  • Quick video of me TRYING to work A25R on my yaesu FTdx-101MP. I attempt to show how to work the DX station "split". This means that the DX station is listening on a frequency other than the one they are transmitting on. This helps tremendously when trying to listen to the DX station during pileups.
The Yaesu does a great job - making working split easy. If you hear folks other than the DX station sending "UP" - you know that the DX station is working split. Hope this video helps!

Don't have one of these waterfall thingies on my radio, so I do it all by ear. 😊 But it seems to make life a lot easier. 👍

Thanks for sharing. I have him on 40-10 CW including WARC Bands. I don't work 80. Right now it's 3 in the afternoon in Houston, and I can hear him on 40! Condx excellent!

I was trying for VK4 this past weekend on side band. I'm too small of a station though and they couldn't hear me.

@@k9kj We often hear east coast and up around Great Lakes on CW and FT8 on 20m down this end of the world. I'm also small setup with simple wire antenna's and max 100W hence the fascination for CW to make this location workable on HF. 73 and thanks for the reply.

I use my little button the swaps the VFOs (XFC) on my IC7300 and listen for the responding station. That way I can hear with my ears and see it on the bandscope. I chase the responding station, and then give it a shot for the next round. If that makes sense!

Makes total sense, and that was the only way you could really do it back in the day. I still do that sometimes just to listen to other stations responding. What a great hobby! The stuff is so fun!

Massively difficult to get these guys on 20m for me 😂. Got them on 10 though. 20 is tough when I’m in the shack

What is opinion on the FTDX-101MP, mainly the V-Tune and roofing filters for added quality of noise reduction and additionally the 200 watts, dual tuner and power supply speaker add to a better experience? If the V-Tune and roofing filters are not as helpful for added ease of hearing then the FTDX10 maybe the best choice?

I will say that I dont use the V-tune. Not sure why, but I just keep forgetting about it.

I use the FH-2 remote control keyer on DXpeditions to avoid sending errors, match their CW speed, and maximize efficiency. Memory 1 is my call and memory 2 is 5NN TU. The FTdx101 makes it very easy. 73 es TU TJ. dit dit
