This one was planned, my spidey-sense told me this one might get me yelled at, so I wanted to share it on our anniversary. 🎸 Guitar Trivia, that twangy guitar noise we use a whole lot, (the ones that goes to your left ear right in the beginning, for example) are called "pinch harmonics." Harmonics are extra sounds you can make where guitar strings ring out in the same key as the fret would, but higher pitch. There are different types of harmonics, you've heard them all. Pinch Harmonics are called that because they're made by letting the string gently and immediately touch the inside of your thumb after picking, kind of like pinching the string. That mutes the guitar's normal sound and causes the string to ring out. What makes pinch harmonics so useful is they can be played on any fret, so in any key, while the other types ring out because of where you're muting (eg 12th fret). We love them. If you want to hear a bunch, listen to ZZ Top, they pinch wonderfully and constantly. Just to be clear, the sound I used as an example isn't just a pinch-harmonic, it's also being bent. While the harmonic is ringing out, the fretted string is either being bent or bent back and forth (like a vibrato, but I can't think of what it's called on guitar). (See? Toldja I don't know terms!) Bending is when you literally bend the string to make it go higher. Fretting is when you're holding the string down behind a fret (the wires across the neck). I'm not talking down to anyone, but I'm aware that my audience might know a lot or nothing about guitars, this also might be their second language or I might just be using the wrong terms. I'm not a term-knower. (Get it? I'm implying I don't know of a term for people who might know more terms) Anyways, I wasted most of yesterday trying out other editing software, today I'm going to work on aspects of editing/mixing outside of CapCut and see where it goes. Once the sun stops shining in my window, I'm gonna play some Dead by Daylight. (Dead by Daylight is a very dark game, I was playing yesterday and I couldn't see half of what was around me, and it's really bright today. I know there are things like curtains, but I just have drapes and I resist change of any kind.) 🖤 Thank you all so much for listening! 🖤
Hate the Doors? I didn't even know that was possible! I'll admit that their deep cuts aren't very good, but their good ones are so good. Thank you Caine!
@@DreadParade Oh, it's more than possible. I mean, I don't hate every song. "The End", "Moonlight Drive", "The Soft Parade" and "Light My Fire" are always welcome at my house, but you have to remember, I'm a geezer and lived through all that. Sometimes people outshine their music, and not always for good reasons. He sure was good at fooling people, tho. (Actually, the secret to a happy marriage is agreement on what you listen to. Like all the same, hate all the same. You'll see.)
