Jay she is straight and perfect , you need her . Get her running somebody will gladly pay well for it. Or it could be a nice one for you to fix up for your dad !
Just go to AutoZone and order a new ignition switch and then put the car on eBay you might get $2,000 for it after it's running it's more than scrap value!
The 1982 Continental was Lincoln's flagship. It was a new model for 1982 and had a similar style to the Cadillac Seville. The Continental Mark VI was an upscaled version of the Town Car and the middle priced car in Lincoln's lineup for 1982..
Ebony Bunny, you are mistaken. 82 Mark VI was flagship, not Lincoln Continental. Read Wikipedia if nothing else. When it came to the Lincoln division, any year they built a Mark, be it a Mark III, IV, V or VI, that Mark was the Flagship too of the line.
2:08 I could just hear Doug DeMuro pointing that out about the front marker lights! "Even the front turn signals have the logo INSIDE the lens so everyone around you knows you're driving a Lincoln!"
Ford is still doing this. I have had my 2017 F-150 for two years, and just discovered there is a Ford logo on the side of the low beam headlight bulb reflector, *within* the headlight assembly. This was my "easter egg" find last week.
@jdslyman He reacts to everything as if he was born yesterday (which he was), and his tone is always somewhat condescending with a touch of ridicule. Man, I had a '77 and an '81 Olds 98. Talk about phenomenally comfortable and beautiful cars! The '81 was stolen from me. They are very hard to find these days.
@jdslyman I know! My '77 was an LS, which had plain seats, but the '81 was a Regency. Those pillow-back seats were something else. When we took a trip, I often rode in the back and let my father drive just so I could enjoy them fully. And there was no stupid center console. No car today offers anything similar for any reasonable amount of money, and that's a real pity. The Great American Automobile is dead. Thank you, Detroit - you could not have surrendered more disgracefully.
Oh my god that is gorgeous!!! Someone please save this!!! Hell if I were closer that would so be mine! (If it’s cheap enough maybe I will still get her, detail the hell out of her, fix any issues, but leave it as stock as possible) And Jay you really gotta use the pressure washer on her and see how nice she is all clean 🧼
Jay, well son!! Honey hush!! Providing motor and transmission are ok. And she don’t leak oil from the valve cover gaskets ( they are notorious for that) give her a good wash, clean up the interior best you can. Maybe a quick coat of wax to preserve the paint. You should be able to get $500 to $1000 providing everything works inside the car. That Lincoln would make a great cruise night car!
There is no way that car can be scrapped Jay - NONE! I expect one or two more videos on it to get her running and clean it up - then I might have to burn some vacation time to come and get it- seriously! New tires on it all the way around and good check over and off it goes. 2 door blue in that condition is awesome! A summer cruising car! Love it and what a find that is - WOW! :-)
No worries about this one getting saved, it's way too clean to crush or even part out. I know even if nobody pitches up willing to pay the asking price Jay's got to take this one on. He'd be crazy to let it die, potential in bucketloads there. To be pretty honest I'm wondering if it could even be 16k miles looking at the underside, more likely 116k but then i can't see the pedal rubbers or tire brands.
Someone will definitely snatch that up in no time given the condition and title status. New tires and brakes, fluid change, a good wash, interior detail, and a grille and that car will look almost like the day it rolled off the assembly line. Always loved these 2 door Lincolns.
Please don’t crush that one. Brings back a lot of memories. My dad restored a ‘79 in the early 2000s. It was also a 2 door with a 460. Green paint with green interior. I think it was called a Town Coupe
@@TiberianFiend these are identical to the originals, plus not many people pay the extra cost of whitewalls when replacing them, they just buy standard tires.
Hey Jay. My name is Jason and I love your videos. I am from Montreal Quebec Canada. I hate it when people scrap cars that can be fixed. This Lincoln should be saved.
Very clean and nice! Good scrub, polish, and through detail!!! I liked Lincoln's '80-'85, had one!! Too bad I am too far out west!! I'd love to hear it run!!!
Not my taste, but a really nice find. The steering on these was "less than accurate." Post this in The Brougham Society on FB. Someone there would snap it up.
Man with a little bit of money and a lot of TLC that would make a great car. I believe she will run and I hope somebody snags that beauty and saves her for sure.
Jay, that is such a beautiful Lincoln! Even if it needs engine work, it would be a real decent vehicle for somebody that has an interest in the old Brougham. The underside looks incredible! Thank you for posting.
Very cool, almost bought a huge 1979 Lincoln Continental the other day with 25,000 actual miles. 1979 was the last year for the true land yachts at least with Ford. GM and Chrysler downsized their cars 3-4 model years prior. I say give this one a chance, looks like it'd clean up well!
I had a '79 Mark 5 Bill Blass edition I bought from the original owner. A '72 Continental 4 door, too, that I also bought from the original owner. That one still had the back seatbelts wrapped in original plastic from the factory.
I love those Lincoln right there!! I could tear it down and rebuild it those models I have always owned!! They ride like a cloud!!! Awesome my friend keep on getting em! !!!
That's one nice, straight, clean ol boat! You have one of the few RUclips channels where I 'click' the thumbs up (or whatever you call it) icon before the video starts! Keep up the GREAT work man.
I hope that someone who will take care of this beautiful car will buy it . It do not need to go to waste . I would buy it if I could . 1982 was a very good year for me I met my very first girl friend in 6'1982 . That is still a beautiful 1982 Lincoln just like my beautiful wife . Enjoy it who ever get that car . Wow .
Assuming there aren't any major mechanical issues (which there very well might be, it was scrapped for a reason) it's in really good shape. It'd absolutely be worth throwing a battery in it and seeing how it fairs, after checking fluids of course.
The body is so good that it would even be worth throwing a new motor or trans in, if one or both turned out to be junk. I'm so envious of people in the South with their supply of rust-free classic cars. I split my time between Boston MA and the UK and anything from this period that has survived has invariably been patched, welded and filled with bondo multiple times. Original bodywork is simply not a thing unless it was taken off the road at three years old and parked up in a dry garage for 40 years.
I was on the lookout for one of these two door lincolns when I found a clean 89 town car and bought that instead. I would have bought this in a heartbeat. The engine is very underwhelming but nothing a set of those explorer heads and an aftermarket camshaft wouldn't fix. The CFI fuel injections system is awful in these, honestly swap to carb. 400HP and overdrive makes for a very nice cruiser that could surprise a few older mustangs!
I love how when something too nice to scrap comes in, Jay makes a video in hopes to sell it because he cares too and does not like seeing nice old cars being scrapped. Keep it up Jay.
Looking at the condition of the factory exhaust / converter, and the brake / fuel lines etc. I wouldn't be surprised if this only had 16,000 miles when it was parked. At 116,000 miles, I don't think the exhaust would still look like this. Considering many of these cars rotted away with perfectly good grilles, that should be an easy part to find in good condition. Hope someone gives this a new home. Won't be a rocket with that 2bbl smogger 302. But it will be smooth and quiet. A fun future project could be a 5.0 Coyote swap!

Legally I cannot drive, but if I could? I would love this. I grew up around these old “boats” thanks to my grandfather, and I feel nothing tops those squishy couch-like seats, especially nowadays.
I want that car. This would be perfect for me. A car like this is my dream car. I don’t care how old the car is, I expect the floor pans to be free of rust, all the cosmetic stuff to be in perfect working condition, and the clear coat on the paint to not be flaking off.
Here in Ontario Canada most cars are scrapped because they're rotted out. Most have they're powerplants removed and sold. Most decent shape ones have powerplants in them cause they blown.
My dad had one just like this except it was black and gray and had the digital dash. I loved that car, BTW those vent windows roll straight down before the big window does.
Smart man with a passion for the classics. I appreciate your effort to save this rare Lincoln Mark VI. Hopefully someone buys and restore this beauty. Oh my, that's a beautiful old beast. You can keep your Mustangs and Camaros, I'm all about the land yachts, baby. I'd take this over a Caddy - as others have said, you can't beat a Panther and a 2-door is like hen's teeth now as I don't believe there were many made. Such a good-looking vehicle - someone *really* didn't know what they had there but aside from a good wash / polish and replacing that awful modern stereo, I'd drive this big girl all day long. Lovely well-preserved modern classic.
Thanks for the video. It is a great looking car cannot wait to see other video's about it like starting up or if you could do a pressure washing video that would be great.👍😀
Dude, what's this I hear about even THINKING about that being a "parts car"? Nooo, that's a saver! Even if the motor is shot, put a 302 cid (or whatever) out of a wrecked car in it. Years ago, I saw a 1982 Lincoln Continental Givenchy Signature Series car in the junkyard. It was in practically perfect condition with only 60k, except for one of the little windows being shattered, a blown engine, and I forget what little else. They had just gotten it in. Long story short, a kindly lady employee informed me at the time (1990's) that replacing the engine would have been a very expensive headache, especially if it is not replaced with the original type engine. Nevertheless, that did not stop me from at least trying to save it by advertising it on our local online BBS (Bulletin Board Service). There were no takers. But that lady's explanation helped me to understand why many "savers" get scrapped.
That's a awesome car! A'82 with a little more than 100k is cool,,I have a '86 Buick Century Limited bought new in 11-85 w/ 103,800 and is running and driving great, only has the 2.8 liter by but has been a very reliable car, thanks for sharing

This really saddens me. I love old Marks. Closest thing I had to this was a '79 Mark 5 Bill Blass. I love these Mark sixes, too, even though they don't get a lot of love from Lincoln ppl. Gorgeous car. I sure hope someone buys this that appreciates what it is and can be again. In the meantime, my heart breaks seeing it like this.
what a beautiful car??? Someone must had taken care of it? How hard will it be getting a 80-83 Lincoln (assume) grill and a great used ignition system, one coat of NuFinish/a scrub down, good used tires and a tune up and sell it for $3200....??? about $250 in labor and parts....3 or 4 part videos??

@@falconlover1579 im not talking about how much the Lincoln is worth IM TALKING ABOUT THE MILEAGE
It will run I owned 5 of them that body style easy to work on save it
That's a awesome car! A'82 with a little more than 100k is cool,,I have a '86 Buick Century Limited bought new in 11-85 w/ 103,800 and is running and driving great, only has the 2.8 liter by but has been a very reliable car, thanks for sharing
If it runs and clean title
Give me a price
Neil
Its salvage title now
@@showgirlsaroundtheworldada4484 may not be savaged. Just because a car sits in a barn for years and is sold for scrape doesn't mean it has to consider savaged. With no record of damage or being totalled should be able to register with a regular title
@@billst.1044 there are legal procedures when cars are sold to junk man...that title becomes a salvage title...that is not a "clean title" and depending on the state very hard to get back on the road
what state are you in?
dude if u buy it make a video !!
That car is perfect. I love these early 80s Lincolns. It belongs ina garage not a junkyard
I am so happy I grew up far in the wayback, gives an advantage over many . I saw, rode, and traveled in luxury automobiles such as this. If someone picks up this Lincoln please try to stay as original as possible. It will pay off if you decide to trade or sell in future.
Always did like Lincoln exspecially the older Lincoln's can't believe that was scraped Jay you need to do a revival of this good old American car👍👍
Whats the matter with the car I'm driving?
Can't you tell that it's out of style?
Should I get a set of white wall tires?
Are you gonna cruise the miracle mile?
Nowadays you can't be too sentimental
Your best bet's a true baby-blue Continental
Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk
It's still rock and roll to me
Billy Joel
PLEASE save this Lincoln Jay!!
It's a shame it's not a cooler vehicle in that nice of shape like an 82 Bronco. Those Lincolns were funky when new and haven't aged any better.
I thought they were drop dead gorgeous when new, and I was only 11 or 12.

I thought they looked like the product of over ornamentation, like jewelry on a pig, surpassed only by Chrysler luxury cars.
@@upsidedowndog1256 The Chryslers were gorgeous, too! LOL. Especially the '81-'83 Imperial.
@@robsrandomness7824
Ha ha!! I bet you liked the Cadillac with the chandeliers in the movie "Escape from New York"!!
@@upsidedowndog1256 Didn't see it, but it sounds wonderful. I liked the Zimmer Golden Spirits, which had crystal vases in the opera windows. lol
Typical problem for the 80's Ford products ignition lock siezes up
It's the module under the steering column, unplug the wires and plug into a good known switch from a mustang or crown vic...........

Who ever sold this car for scrap if out of their mind, it's still in great shape.
2 door coupe, with pop up headlights and opera windows. thats awesome
Please don't scrap! Nice car, good color too. If it was pea green I'd say crush it.
