- We went into this one totally blind--and our expectations were exceeded. The new fragrance APEX from Roja Parfums is a special one. I believe that they executed exactly what they sought out to do.
In this 7th episode of "Real World Reviews", where I give you my real first experience of a fragrance that isn't terribly different from how you'd first experience it, we're taking APEX for a test drive, and even getting the candid opinion of a special guest.
Despite mine or anyone else's opinion, I do not endorse blind-buying this fragrance if you can avoid it (or any for that matter). I'll link to at least one place to sample it below.

First impressions videos are always good. There's now a few for Apex and they are very consistent in that the scent is totally non linear, constantly changing as it develops.
I’m glad to hear you can appreciate this scent. I bought it blind after readying the notes and I LOVE it. After I wore it 2-3 times I was able to really understand it. It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely a winner for me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....you've set the bar for how first impression videos should be done. A quick first review followed up at the end of the day with your thoughts after wearing it for 6-7 hours. Excellent video as always, Justin!!

Dude! Yes! This is what I always thought "reviews" were supposed to be! To top it off, someone else's take who was with you. It'd be great to hear her thoughts on sillage and the like since one can't really tell when it's coming from your own neck.

On paper I experience a fresh chypre with a mellow leather accord. On my skin there is a world of difference!
I get an unique aroma, that of an ember, almost volcanic, perhaps scorched earth. [ I'm now intrigued to get my nose on "Smolder"].
Having a very rich earthy profile, deep with animalic nuances I completely understand that video teaser that Roja dropped.

I'm transported to the equator, somewhere tropical and I'm sitting in warm water and I have a melange of fruits in hand and there is an active volcano near by supplying an oddly enjoyable scent of brimstone that heightens the truly distinc sensation of a tranquility that's affixed to the knowledge of a present danger.
I've personally experienced this in hot springs of Southern Mexico and I am aghast by how transportive this fragrance is. In reference to the tranquility with a present danger I'd like to imagine Peter of FrageanceView experienced something of the like as he sit on the edge of a cliff at the summit of Machu Picchu, though I've never personally undertaken such a momentous adventure.
I agree with Troyd247mall, in that I get Nishane vibes... but personally I really experience this as a stand out scent.
Simplest way I can describe it:
Deep earthy and animalic base ala "Hamdani" (PDM) or "Myths Man" (Amouage)
With the top and heart of a tropical scent ala Oud Jaune Instense or Ylang Ylang Nosy Be (Perris Monte Carlo).
Man. I just can’t get on board with roja parfums. But everything is subjective and I’m glad you like it.

Finally bought this one today. How does it compare to the older polo green? I grew up as a teen wearing that one and still own a bottle but it’s far more weaker now. I love your review on this one. You both do a great job.
It's definitely more complex and perhaps not quite a vintage-smelling as the Polo. Thanks Mark!

Man I’ve been wanting this. I love the bottle the presentation and it seems like a great scent. I’m hoping I can get my hands on this soon for my collection. I love Roja Parfums. Burlington is a stunning scent. Aswell as A Midsummer Dream
I’m pretty sure I will love the opening but that dry down is the verdict, with the price definitely will sample first. I was looking forward on your take on this and you never disappoint. Thanks!

6 sprays on the first wear is pretty bold. I'll have to check some Roja scents out, never knowingly smelled any.

Based on your review, I'm 50 yrs old and i can see this in a solid color t shirt or button down and jeans for me hanging out in a park setting, outdoor= indoor concert, lunch=dinner date or cigar lounge. My perspective. Thanks for review.. cant wait to purchase.

Love Roja, One of my top two houses. I found that some of them don’t have amazing performance, but they ALL have incredibly amazing quality.
My sent of the day today is actually danger Parfum Cologne.
Just got my bottle today. This is fantastic! In the drydown it is like a cross between Sauvage Elixir and Roja Fetish Pour Homme. It is like a close cousin of Fetish. Then elements of the old Cosmair Polo comes out. Also, there is like a Valentine’s Day candy heart note. This is like a modern day Polo Green. Meaning, it will have the same effect on people now that Polo had on people in the 80s. However, it didn’t last long on my skin; maybe a few hours. However, I love it. This is a modern day Alpha Male fragrance. Roja knocked it out of the park.
Update: I have gotten 3 compliments so far this morning. I asked one woman (30) to rate it and she gave it a 9 out of 10. I do go nose blind to this one though like I do with Aventus.

Roja delivers fantastic fragrances enigma pour homme and enigma cologne are his best scents I absolutely love apex it's an autumn scent but I agree only good noses will understand this fragrance
I'm the most interested in this one of the bottle style (it isn't actually a parfum cologne is it?) since Creation-E/Enigma parfum cologne.
I gotta admit, part of that is because I love the green. But also I have nothing like it in my collection, and it sounds so interesting.
I'm definitely gonna try to get a bottle of this, it seems to be an amazing fragrance and i'm really curious since the official announcement

Roja basically slaughters the house of Creed!
Apex embodies an Alpha Male scent and it's a testament to what can be achieved by a house that's both niche and luxurious.

Managed to find it in a boutique a couple of weeks ago, tried it on skin and bought it (I got eagle). I find that it has quite a strong incense note, but it's well balanced with the resins and animalics. No obvious bright notes even right at the opening. I'm not really a fan of the Parfum Cologne collection by the way, some of them are even unpleasant to me, but I like Apex and I've worn it a lot since I bought it. Oh and my mum likes it.

The notes breakdown has PINEAPPLE. Please let me know if this smells like Aventus even in the slightest, because I'm almost certain it would because of the pineapple.

Thank you Donato. Scandal is completely different, it is a fougere while Apex is more of a green woody leather.

Justin, I really wanna wear my most favorite everyday but just like you said, I’m afraid of offending people with it. Mine is Black Orchid EDP, new batch. It’s not as strong as people said but it’s good enough in my opinion. So I really wanna how many sprays you suggested I should apply on each application.
Because it is such a provocative profile, I would spray no more than 3 times when you're feeling uncertain, and more than that when you know it will have room to breathe.

Hey Justin. Haven't Found a Roja fragrance that I like yet but I don't want to write off the house. I've tried Elysium and Enigma in both their concentrations and wasn't too impressed. Granted I smelled these early into the hobby but I'm just curious as to what Roja offering I should sample next or simply your favorite. I have been leaning towards woody or earthy freshies of late but I also love a good oriental if done tastefully. Thanks! Boozy notes and chocolatey patch are other accords i'm partial to.
Hey John! It's great to hear that you're having a very honest experience thus far in your journey. It's important to take note of why you may not have been drawn to these fragrances--questions to ask would be were they missing something? Or was their an element in them that smelled unpleasant?
I would sample Oligarch, Danger, Reckless, or Diaghilev if you can. Those are all quite different from each other, so it should give you a pretty good scope of the house outside of what you tried. Just beware of Diaghilev--it's quite animalic.
@Justin Copeland I actually dig most anamalic stuff I get my nose on and have heard good things about Diaghilav 😄. Elysium I would probably like more now but I have a lot of similar easy to pull off scents. Enigma was a strange case as it seemed to be so concentrated that it had a tough time drying on my skin and I was getting cumin on my gf and people around me. It piqued my interest but had to be scrubbed. I think I'll try Danger as love me some good lavender. Have been coming around on mossy barbershop scents and that seems like something he does really well. Cumin listed here though too 😮

For my nose is indeed a fruity chypre one but goes in the direction of Aventus, in my humble opinion it hasn't surprised me, I prefer Turandot, that is a masterpiece. Sorry 😅but I always like your videos and description.

@@stayfreshproductions Yeah it is $300-$400 now on ebay - You might as well just buy Apex. I personally like it better anyway. I was taken back at first at first sniff. I was pretty disappointed with the purchase. Then I wore it for three days in a row and started to enjoy it much more. I really like the drydown. It is a grown man frag for sure. Not for the masses. I said it reminds me of my Dad. Well, I am a Dad now and only getting older so if the shoe fits! HAHA. It is good to see you doing so well with the RUclips thing. @@stayfreshproductions as a 12 year old i did not pick up on the anamalic vibe just smelt so clean and fresh lol. But as i got older i picked up on it but found it funny that females made comments that it smelt like a urinal 😂😂😂 did not stop me still using it. But justin the original hugo boss, now called hugo boss one. used to be another one i loved the smell of that left a trail 3 sprays were enough but joop on the other hand had a scent bubble that you could see from space 😂 and a trail as long as hiker going on a walk. No joke it was on my jackets for weeks and on cloths. But have to say other then kouros my only other love at first sight other then my woman was armani mania1999 to 20007 wow talk about a panty dropper and a half never failed in the club would get women who dancing move close to me on 2 occasions had a female hit on me infront of the man they were with 😂😂😂 even that had so much projection and longevity that on cloths lasted over a week went through good 8 bottles of that as it was my signature scent for many years so glad. But now its been discounted and was reformulated which tore its sexy heart out and its sultry soul. Look at the pyramid for hugo boss, or kouros there so much in there compared to designers now which are a pinch of salt ingredients wise. Only thing that might come close is some niche aftershave but hence the price tag as well.

I wasn’t impressed. Seemed to old school to me and not as up to date as I’d hoped. Maybe I was expecting something different. The Roja team on instagram said this would be as mass appealing as Elysium. It’s not
