- How To Build Underground Buried Downspout System that Lasts FOREVER
Tree roots are the number one enemy to any drainage system you have to go to great lengths to keep those tree roots from clogging your underground downspout system. We have a beautiful example of an underground buried downspout system. Let me show you all the components that make our systems last forever.

Thanks for sharing another awesome video!
this guy make videos that are fun to watch
miles above others in terms of materials used, techniques employed, explanation of parts, and explanation of purpose
Thank you
Very nice job
How long will the copper sulfate crystals last undergrown? Do you have to do any additional maintenance to keep roots clear of your pipes?

Very nice 👍
wow that is an incredible truck
i would love to watch a video of where you got it and how the tool doors work if it was a custom build ect
That's the biggest plumbing box you can put on a truck. The total price is $103k.
Do you make a stone drywell underneath the pop-up? I've seen pop-ups and pipes freeze from the water not being able to completely drain the line
I show that in this video

What’s your intake on sdr35 and having a clean out on downspouts? I’m in NC. I understand you like double wall corrugated but customers here prefer solid pipe compare to corrugated.

Can/should you use the copper sulfate when placing your pipe inside the nonwoven, double punch fabric with stone? I have to run my line past a couple of massive old growth trees. Thx!
There you go. I made a video for you, brother.

Any videos for showing the process of wrapping the pop up ?

Any tips you can share on digging a trench and not ripping out a sprinkler system pipe?

Do you have any video showing the compression strength of the pipe? Ie someone standing on it etc? Im wondering with pipe close to the ground how foot traffic/ riding mower would impact it.
💪 no worries, it's strong.
Do you tape the connection at the pop up emitter? Thought I remember you saying not to do that in a previous video, but I can’t remember why that would be the case?

I want to put one of your kits in my front yard but I'm afraid of the pop up emitter creating a ponding issue in my front yard as well as icing over sidewalks in winter. Any chance you have people in PA or MD?

No pop-up emitter on discharge example
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN Thank you!
What do you guys use to measure to assure you maintain a consistent slope?

My street doesn't have any stormwater drains. Would it make sense to install a 15-foot section of knife cut that connects to the popup emitter to reduce the volume of water that exits? I'm planning to buy a yard drainage system for the 4 downspouts in my backyard. I'd like to take 2 downspouts to the front yard, but my neighbor's huge pine tree has surface roots in my yard and I have a few ornamental trees so sending all of the downspouts to my side yard seems like the best option.
Pine trees are very shallow-rooted. But that's all they have; just what you see at the surface. They have this web of anchoring roots, and there isn't anything for feeder roots. I find that those are some of the easier roots to dig through. Just buy a sharp axe. It's pretty easy, to be honest.
NO KNIFE CUT! That just lets roots in.
NO KNIFE CUT! That just let's roots in. If you must discharge into the ground, you want a dry well at the end of your run.
Is this 3" pipe ok for areas with pine needles or would you still stick with the 4"?
I would imagine the downspout adapter's filter would collect most of them and the catch basins would collect others. Do you have gutter guards?
Leaf filters catch long pine needles, but many of the short ones will get through. Yes, going to a 4-inch line displaces more area, so it just takes longer for the needles to become a problem. I always recommend cutting those trees down because they cause all sorts of problems that you're unaware of. You'll end up with the wood under your shingles rotting on your roof, and it causes mold and mildew on the house. The sap ends up on everything. I'm not a fan.
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN My car has several spots of pine tree sap that are difficult to remove. I suspect pine needles are making the ground too acidic for grass to properly grow. My neighbor and I both have huge pine trees. They are nice for shade, but they create a lot of lawn care work.
I had my gutters replaced and the previous gutter guards did great at preventing pine needles from getting into the gutters, but that might be because the nearby pine trees are old. I'm looking forward to a rainstorm to see how well the 6 inch gutters perform.
3" pipe has a faster velocity that ought to push debris through it, at least to a catch basin. It wouldn't hurt to connect a garden hose to the downspout adapter for a catch basin to flush out any debris.
Can I put my gutter cleanout line to my french drain, then my sum pump to my end. Or will the gutter line water just cause my french drain to be over welmed and not dry that area. Just wonder also I don't have all french language.
Here's 2 examples

Thank you.
If they have to pipe their rain water away, that means they have a good amount of rain. They should collect that and use it.

Careful now, some states tax the rain from your roof!
Why do you need the copper sulfate? I thought that your new 3" pipe can't be penetrated.
If you want the tree roots to grow around your pipe, you can allow them to grow on your pipe. The decision is yours.
Did you hand dig this?
Yes, I believe so. When we have a lot of digging to do, we will use a small excavator.
do you ever work with home builders?
Not anymore.
Can you make a pop up emitter guide?
How does the water flow up out of it without the pipe filling up?
It doesn't. That's why they drill a few holes at the bottom of the not-quite-90, with some rock and fabric under it, so that after most of the water flows out the top of the emitter, what's left in the line slowly leaches into the ground. Without those provisions, it would become a freeze/break risk in winter, and a mosquito breeding ground in the summer, as well as potentially harboring various molds.
The residual water would leach out through the holes in the bottom of the Not Quite a 90. Also, a knife-cut pipe can be installed within the last several feet of the system for water to leach out before reaching the emitter.
So what is the point of the pop up then?
@@sseann132 Bulk water during the rainstorm will exit through the popup emitter.

@@FRENCHDRAINMAN Thanks
you do not use corrugated pipe. you use smooth wall inside pipe. corrugated will clog up over time. you will be digging back up.

It’s very illegally need to connect to the legal underground stormy pipe to the legal discharge point
