In this video I build an FPV Cinewhoop for the First time, like Joshua Bardwell, Chris Rosser, UAVfutures, MrSteele, NurkFPV, or Dronecamps would teach. I struggle through such as Chase Momo, Brodie Reed, Captain Vannover(in the past) or Potato Jet might've. Follow my FPV journey building new drones, crashing into bandos, and doing flowy freestyle
Great video that exposes just about every learning curve that could be had while building your first FPV drone, keep up the good work
It's pretty hard ain't it!
@@CalebTyler sure is at first. I think I got lucky on my first build and didn't let that magic smoke out 🤣. You've got a new follower. Keep it up.

Haha, good luck with BnF!
Seems like a larger drone would be easier to build since it wouldn’t be so fiddly. Impressive how you stayed with it! The scenery there is very nice.
Yes definitely, I built a 5" not long ago and it was 48 times easier😎
Nice effort man. amazing video. Small tip for any beginner, the quad size depends on the prop size, which depends on your motor size and Amp draw which depends on ur esc and FC.
So first, decide which frame u want, then look for which motors and props fit that frame as the mounting holes are different for each size, then the ESC and the FC.
Thanks for sharing
Great video Caleb! Keep on making things. Great content and videography.
Thanks mate!
Awesome video Caleb! I hope you stick with the hobby it's alot of fun and gets less frustrating the more experience you gain with building! :) I subbed to keep up with your progress

Welcome 😊
This IS me a year ago! 😂 I built a 5inch quad a year ago and I couldn't get it to work for MONTHS. Same issues and everything... Great video!
@@gnugget1015 For MONTHS huh? That's rough!!
Man.. I thought a day was long
a little bit of advice dont set the soldering iron to max. maybe 10 degrees above what ever the solder is rated for and clean off the tip as much as possible.
but also make sure the tip is tinned as this is what makes it melt the solder faster.
What's wrong with max? my soldering iron can only get to 400 celsius (752 fahrenheit) and I hear people go higher that.
This is so underrated, most channels dont talk about the pains of building a quad. Love the content, keep it up!
Thanks! Trying to bring something new to the table.

Ok I don't really want to build a drone but this was a lot of fun to watch
I have the same drone. Top plate breaks extremely easy. Broke mine twice, it wasn't even from a height, fall from 2 meters on a grass. Next time it breaks, I'm moving to a different cinewhoop. Extremely difficult to repair and replace the frame...
Hmm, I've had some pretty big crashes with it and I've only had problems with the prop guards.
Having just built my first 5 inch quad I understand your struggles
Congrats mate! What did you build?

@@Tyler-kj8ss Sorry to hear that.
my first cinewhoop was hell to, but figured it. well done. make sure you don't go under 3.5volt per cell, you properly already know by know:) you got urself another sub;)
My poor batteries are begging for death, lol.
@@CalebTyler been there myself
Good video. You are right about the cinewhoops. If I get someone new into the hobby and they want to build a cinewhoop as their first one, yeah I'll try everything to keep them away from it. Not only is an AIO (as you noticed) not the best thing, a CineWhoop is also just not the most fun drone to fly. When I started I wanted to have fun, so I built a 5". Now I want long range, so I built an aiplane. A cinewhoop is good when you want to have indoor footage that can be used as a job or smth. But why the hell fly outside with it or try to do things it was not designed for?!? My best recommendation for a beginner is a 3.5" Freestyle. Take the Volador 3.5" Frame for example, I want this so bad but rn I don't want to buy another Walksnail Kit. Next thing. You use DJI, I use Walksnail, many people use Analog and a few HD0. The last 3 are great. DJI is dog s h i t. It's expensive and won't let you fly with other systems. I can easily use analog or hdzero with walksnail, and most modern Analog goggles can use walksnail and hdzero, and vise verca. DJI only lets in analog in the V2 goggles, which aren't produced anymore. So I'd get analog if I was starting new, but Walksnail is the next best thing. HD0 personally doesn't turn me on, but it sure is a great option! Now for some positive things. You watch bardwell, which is the best thing to do. I see many people stick to someone like Brodie Reed. No offense but he doesn't really talk that good stuff. Next. You informed yourself. Like with the prop thing: You went onto reddit and searched for the problem. Not spam any dc's full... You mentioned linux doesn't have the DJI activation app, and I think informing yourself and getting things done by yourself comes from something like linux. All in all cool Video, hope to see some more content, but please keep it in a style like this. Again, no offense, but someone like chase momo, nah that's not really it. Greetings from your FPV mates in Germany

really good stuff dude, I built my first quad for only 200$ despite people telling me to get prebuilt because it was so time consuming and difficult to build one, but it paid off because I now know all the ins and outs, competely worth teh learning curve.
Definitely, I built a 5" later on and it made it a lot easier.
Great vid, man! Watching this while I fly in the sim lol. Your soldering issues are probably because of that iron. I had that same one and had a bunch of issues with it.
@@DanielJohnFPV What iron do you recommend? JB seemed to like this one. (Sequre D60B)

Yo Caleb lets go haha. Just got my first cinewhoop (pre built) and the AIO had a faulty esc after my first flight 🥲 I returned it but I thought about building my own cine whoop but maybe not after this haha
Yeah I'll also stick to BindNFlys after this
🙃

Definitely more to come!
Good job man 🤝
Thanks ✌
I need some tips, I am 13 years old and new to this like you but I researched, made a list of all my items and I will use a pull configuration on the cinewhoop frame which is Cloud Reptile v2 frame.
I would highly recommend building a 5" quad. It will be a whole lot easier, still tricky but much easier than a cinewhoop.
underrated! thinking abt going back to fpv myself😅😅
Go for it!
9:30, or just cut the uart 2 wire if you don't use the dji controller.
I'd recommend getting a bigger soldering iron tip and some flux in a tube, that works well for me.
Good job on the build and enjoy the hobby, fly safe!
Yeah I saw people saying that, but I didn't want to cut out the possibility of using the DJI controller. I have a larger soldering tip now. Thanks for the comment!
Haven’t seen it yet, but if it flies in the end, big respect from me. I build my first FPV drone have a year ago and decided to build a 5” freestyle, because it’s much easier. But building a cinewhoop as a first drone is impressive. And in this case I’m for sure, cause I have Cinelog 35 too.
After seeing the video, all my thoughts are right, but well done. And your endurance is impressive. By the way, ELRS ist that complicated to set up at all. I use ELRS too, but a friend of mine who uses Crossfire has way more problems and it’s much more difficult to setup. BTW nice Video 👍
It was a living nightmare figuring it all out! I've since built a 5" and wow it it's easier!
I agree, ELRS ain't that bad. Everyone says it's a 'big learning curve' but it appears to be getting easier every update, like actual bind buttons, etc.. And Crossfire, didn't know it was that bad! It's expensive too🤑
@@CalebTyler Nice
@@CalebTyler BTW keep up, your storytelling in this video was amazing.
Elrs hurts my head lol, I decided I’m going with DJI remote, still gonna try again with elrs 😅
ELRS range just on 250mw beats DJI o3, my radio master boxer goes to 1,000 mW, so failsafe ain't a problem!
either it is just me or that's a chunky battery. could be why you are at high throttle.
lighter battery can sometimes mean longer flight too as bigger can be heavy.
It was on the large side, but with props on the right way I'm getting 6 to 7 minute flight times and hovering at around 20% percent throttle.
Yo ! Sick video ⚡⚡⚡
Thanks !
You’ve gotten another sub! This video was amazing, your constant trial and error and you showing us how you resolved it really worked in the video. I’ll follow your advice and not buy a cinewhoop build 😂
Thanks, definitely appreciate it!
Amazing video, deserves way more than 79 subs. I just subed!
Haha, thanks for that!
Dayum man, keep up with the great work! I would try to build a drone too but the part of buying 700$ goggles and a 250$ o3 unit is kinda too much for me lol
There are quite a few cheaper options, I'm working on a video building a cheap drone.
I would try to make the same 1 but it looks to painful and way to hard without a tutorial.
Agreed. I found some videos of people fixing it, reviewing etc, and analyzed every second of them. lol

Great video! This just shows me the difference between being a gifted teen and a 72 year old fart! I knew almost nothing either and found I didn't even know most of the stuff I was assumed to know, even though I've been "into" computers for decades. I had to learn how to solder again since I hadn't done it for over 50 years. It was nice to see someone else struggling with soldering as much as I did. I managed to build the Bardwell kit and can fly it but that's after an embarrassing amount of sim time. And I can't fly one tenth as well as you! Ah, youth! One thing I think I can do is repair it if I can find it when I crash! BTH, I highly recommend getting lens protector/cpl filter for the O3 and securing it with some extra strong tape. Without the tape it'll fly off on your first crash....or at least mine did.
Regarding soldering: I had an iron similar to the one in your video and couldn't do a thing with it. My friend who's helping me only uses one like that in the field and has a higher power one for bench. He solders everything at 480C! In frustration, I tried going hot, realizing I would have to be quick and found it worked much better for me. I am SO far from being an expert I don't even know why I'm sharing this. The one thing I found that puzzled me is that I could make 5 great joints in a row and then have a big problem with the one that was identical except it was to ground. I am theorizing that because it's to ground it is sucking away the heat to other parts of the board. In this case using hotter and faster seems to make sense. This seems similar to what happened with your negative battery wire. I wonder....
Thanks mate! I did put a uv filter on the o3 and it's stayed on by itself so far, even after some pretty hard crashes😀. Happy flying!
I'm pretty sure that negative is directly connected to every ground pad on the board. That would explain our problems.
dude, please tell me ur using lithium ion rather than lipo, i saw ur power drop to less than 3v in a flight...
They're lipos. My batteries beg for death! Lol

You are braver than I am. I've been watching videos for nearly 5 months now and practicing on an Air 75 and Avata 2.
The Air 75 has allowed me to dip my toes into BetaFlight with rates, binding and VTX channels. I also have been doing solder practice on those same Mambas and a dead Tinyhawk AIO.
@@brandon9689 Is the Air75 good? I was trying to decide between the Air75 and Air65 and ended up ordering the 65.
@@CalebTyler I like the 75 a lot. I can see why it's less recommended for indoor flights, it felt overkill for the first few days.
After a week it was completely manageable indoors though. Adapting has improved my throttle modulation greatly.

Do you recommend as a first beginner drone?
@@trexflight For a first drone I would say a tinywhoop because they're small, cheap, and durable. The BetaFPV Air65 freestyle looks like a solid option. Add in the 300mah lava 1s batteries with the 1s dual charger. Then get the radio master pocket as your controller. For goggles find some cheap box goggles. That's what I'd recommend.
