    The rear rotor depends on what size rear parking brake you have to work with the rear rotor. If you have the ID 16.5 rotor, the rear brackets don’t work. The ID 18 works and is on ~90% of F chassis cars

    Drilled/Slotted rotors doesn’t really increase performance, its just cosmetic to make the breaks look cooler. Seen people also say that Ferrari and Porsche have actually admitted this, just for looks. It’s why F1 cars don’t have slotted/drilled rotors.

    I’m trying to do an F80 M3 brake conversion on my F30 335i, I get the calipers but I can only fit 370mm rotors. So what you're saying is with your brake upgrade kit, I can move the Caliper mounting point to allow the standard 380mm M3 rotors? I understand how the front works but the rear is where I’m getting confused. With your upgrade kit, will I also be able to run stock M3 rear rotors 370mm?

    Just the biggers rotors by it self will increase the stoping power
    Same force produce /further away for the center = better results

    • @kern417
      @kern417  2 года назад +1

      The theory is sound but it doesn't work that way in reality. It's like getting wider tires vs a better tire compound. The material that's used makes a much bigger difference than the size of the disc.

    • @flaviomartinho1753
      @flaviomartinho1753 2 года назад

      True but for example a f80 set up if got swapped just the rotors to a 345 lets say would decrease a bit.
      U should have done some testing before and after on the same spot/ conditions since the only change was the rotors itself.
      That way we would know for sure.

    • @kern417
      @kern417  2 года назад

      @@flaviomartinho1753 it's common knowledge. You can look around on various forums and RUclips videos. It doesn't really matter what the platform is. Again it's like somebody saying they want to go 10-20 mm wider on an all-season tire versus going to a direct replacement summer tire or track tire. It just doesn't make the difference you'd think.

    • @kern417
      @kern417  2 года назад +1

      @@flaviomartinho1753 think about it this way.
      Yeah you're increasing the torque on the wheel, but you're also increasing weight. And you're throwing that weight farther away from the center of the wheel that increases rotational inertia. How much does that play into affect?
      Like mentioned, majority of your braking comes from the front wheel and tire setup since all of your weight transfers forward. So what benefit are you even getting from increasing the size of the rear rotors?
      Running larger rotors also means you have to run larger Wheels. What downsides are you sacrificing by having to go up from a 17 to an 18-in wheel?
      Lots of factors. But in the racing community it's been pretty well documented that larger rotors primary benefit are for cooling (and looks of course)
