Hello everyone - hope your having a great first week of the new year! In this video, we do a little dancing and act silly. Music is good for those with dementia and can provide relaxation as well as fun and excercise. I have music playing most of the day in our home and we sometimes get silly and dance when a good beat comes on. "Rise" the song we are dancing to, is an instrumental written by Andy Armer and Randy Alpert, first recorded in 1979 by trumpeter Herb Alpert. Yes, I know that I can't dance, can't keep a beat and have no rhythm! That's ok, cause Theresa is smiling and happy! Have a good laugh, act silly and play some music for your loved one!!
You dance just fine! Is Theresa easily distracted now? You really do great keeping her engaged. My Dad passed ( at 90 ) with dementia/Alz.. One of my worst memories was after my Mom passed & he would call asking if we had seen her. Heartbreaking. Watching you guys continue your love story together is so very heartwarming.
At end of life my dad had to put into a local hospice care home.. he never sang in his life.. even at church but end of life he sang loudly! Istill remember that! Thanks for the memories
I wished I'd found your channel before Teresa passed away. That was Beautiful.Your such a Wonderful husband.God bless you in your days and weeks to come.❤❤❤
Trey, I don't know how I missed this beautiful, fun, video. It makes my heart smile to see you both having so much fun. I know you miss her every day. Continued prayers for you as you continue on in your new journey. I hope for years to come, people who have a newly diagnosed family member will find these videos. They are treasures and although each loved ones journey is different, your videos represent the common threads. You leave Teresa with a very beautiful legacy. God Bless.
Thank you for your comment and prayers. This was a fun video to make. I haven’t gone back to watch any of our videos yet but glad it’s there when I’m ready. God bless
Can’t dance??? Everybody can dance! Everybody SHOULD dance! You two have brought me so much joy with this video ❤️ I’d LOVE to see more. Do you take requests? 😂 My husband had a stroke 15 years ago, and before his stroke, he’d rarely dance with me. But now, we’ll dance anytime and anywhere. Happy New Year from the east coast of Florida 🌞 “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” ❤️
It was great fun to dance with her and make this video. I will cherish it forever. Thank you for your comment and for sharing about your husband. Much Love and Happy New Year from the west coast of FL !!
Jeepers do I ever love your love for your darling. You lead while letting her lead; you know how to read her and provide exactly what she needs during each moment you share with us. This was such a joy to watch. Happy New Year, Mr. & Mrs. Pippen.
Trey, I just saw that Theresa passed away, I had followed your journey together and looking back on her laughter and smiles makes me cry with appreciation. Thank you for sharing with us, and may you find comfort in the knowledge that she was loved deeply and fully. She is no longer suffering, you did a beautiful job supporting her. Blessing to you as you move forward into life.
@@ravenraven966 There's a thing called "RPD" Rapidly Progressive Dementia. This presents a scenario where a person suffering from this disease can experience an incredibly rapid decline in cognitive skill over the course of days or weeks. RPD can be fatal. It's also something that when detected early enough can sometimes be treated, but not always.
Hi Trey, this is so beautiful. Heather watched it with rapt attention. I explained what was going on but I don’t think any of it sunk in. She stopped dancing a couple of months ago but I keep trying. I’m so sorry for the loss of your love my friend. My heart goes out to you.
My uncle had dementia and in his final months he was bed bound, no longer spoke. But every night my Aunt would sing old songs and he would join in, singing the words. I also remember Gabby Gifford singing before speaking during her recovery. I heard it’s a different area of the brain for verbal retrieval. May be helpful in the future. It’s great so see you enjoying yourselves 😊
Wow usted fue un gran esposo y ella una mujer muy afortunada, que descanse en paz Theresa y usted puede tener la seguridad que ella está con Dios y usted la va a volver a ver.
Trey, this just underscores what a fabulous caregiver you were to Theresa! You always seemed to know what she needed. it was so nice to see her enjoy this, with your gentle persuasion at times when she hesitated. I hope you are feeling peace in knowing you did everything you could (and more) to make her happy. Prayers continue for you.
