  • In this video, we'll be talking about the cost of college life in the UK- Liverpool
Liverpool is a vibrant and one of the most cost-effective student cities in the UK. It is home to four universities which include Liverpool University, Hope University, Edge Hill University, and John Moores University. Students from all over the world come to study at these universities but do you know how much it costs to live a comfortable student life in Liverpool. If not, then watch this video till the end.
    Tuition Fees
As a student, you can expect your tuition fees to be around £18,000 to £35,000 per year depending on the course and university you are opting to study at. There are multiple scholarships available that can help you save some money on your tuition fees.
    Accommodation
Well, the first and foremost thing anyone will require to live in a city is accommodation. The cost of accommodation largely depends on where you want to live - in the City centre or in the suburbs. The rent in the city centre is naturally on the higher side as the area is filled with restaurants, shopping, and other entertainment options. There are several student-specific homes known as PBSAs available in the city centre at around £120-£150/week whereas similar options outside the city centre will cost you around £80-£110/week.
You can check out University Living: www.universityliving.com website to browse through several fully-furnished apartments and choose the one which suits your budget. There are different types of rooms available like studios, en-suite rooms, shared rooms, and more.
    Transportation
Liverpool is well-connected via buses and trains so travelling anywhere will always be easy. There are bus stops located near our accommodations which make travelling quite convenient. It is advisable to get a monthly travel pass which will cost you around £65.22 as compared to £2.40 one-way ticket.
If you’re living in the centre of Liverpool you may be able to get around on foot which will help you save a couple of pounds.
    Food
Eating out is expensive and eventually, either your stomach or your wallet is going to realise, it's taken a bit of a hit. A meal at a two-star restaurant will cost you around £13-20 per person while a meal at a fine dining restaurant will cost you around £50-60 per person. But if you’re cooking on your own then the entire cost will lie in between £100 - £400 per month. There are several supermarkets where you can buy groceries at a very reasonable price and cook a nice delicious meal for yourself.
    Entertainment/Leisure
When it comes to having fun, Liverpool has plenty to offer! There are student discounts offered in most bars and clubs which makes it even more enjoyable. For enjoying a couple of drinks with friends you can expect to shell out £1.72 for a pint of beer. A trip to the movies will cost you about £9.60 a ticket. However, it will totally depend on your lifestyle how much you gonna spend on entertainment and other activities.

So these are some of the major expenses you will be bearing while living in Liverpool. Also, if you choose to live in a PBSA you will be saving approximately £100 - £150 per month, as some of your other expenses like laundry, gym membership, utility bills, internet, etc. will be almost nil.
