- Rare video footage of No Doubt playing live during their early years when John Spence was in the band. This was taped at Fender's Ballroom in Long Beach, California, where No Doubt headlined Mod Expo III in 1987. In this clip they play the song "Get a Life".
Is it weird that I love this stuff way more than the stuff they released later on?
BTW, i thought i'd let you all know that the exact date of this gig was March 12th 1987...More than 20 years ago. Got this info off the no doubt website.
Crazy how its 35 years old now
Too bad I wasn't into this scene back then. A 30 mile drive and I could have been there.
old no doubt is the shit
whoa. No Doubt should re-record this, I think :)
If anyone knows where I can find the original studio recording of this song please let me know ASAP. There was one video on RUclips of it a few years back that has disappeared and I’ve recently been searching everywhere for it... please and thank you I love this song so much
I'm looking for it too. Help
Not sure if you guys ever found it, but it's here on RUclips, the video is called "no doubt - unreleased material".
He joined later. In 1989 I think.
omg i wasn't even born then.
this song is awesome :D
Wow my god!!!!!!
Utroligt at der kunne være så mange op på dén lille scene 😉 Men de så ud til at have det sjovt samtidig de optræder, men det er jo osse dét, det handler om.
Haha, Tony Kanal rocking that hi top! :)
chris webb on drums i think
are u sure about the boy sining is john spence or is it alan?
I always thought "You Owe Me" was the real title of this song, and that "Get A Life" was a mislabeling. I guess if John Spence himself calls it Get a Life it must be true! Great song, naturally!
Check out our band PapaFish out of southern cali, if you love ska/reggae, also if you love this video.
I loved Erick but Gwen kills them vocals. She's awesome. Wish they woulda evolved ska and not swtiched to top40
I wonder how she distorted her voice after "the water bill, the electric bill, even the phone" and "u just leave me alooooone" parts...
Was it her voice, some kind of distortion effect, or was it just bad footage quality??
Who knows... The result was amazing though oO
It's a dub echo effect. This was commonly used in vocals during the 2-tone era of ska music. An example of this can also be heard on One Step Beyond by Madness, which was a huge influence on the band at the time.
Don't forget about Alan!
