you did a great job with the history of this once beautiful building...I really enjoyed this video as I love old houses and the back story to them..thank you..
Brian and wendy were good friends of mine and their son and grandson he was an amazing and kind thoughtful man he was an actor and worked in vintage medivel armour and was deeply involved in the TV industry
Great video with some interesting facts i didnt know. im a local from Leek and used to go mountain biking at rudyard, cutting through the hall path when John lived there. I remember the attack, so awful. i ventured into the hall a few times when it was not long abandoned, before the ceilings had gone and before it was vandalised. It was quite intact, mainly just window frame woodwork rotting, but windows still intact. heartbreaking to see it get worse year by year, it was a beautiful building inside
You make it sound like Orwell used it was a base, but he only stayed one night there. He said it was so cold next morning, he couldn't fasten his buttons! I came to your video via reading his diaries.
Thanks for shedding some light on a place I've walked past quite a few times. You did a great job. It's amazing that someone can't do something with this wonderful place. As you say, it won't be there for too much longer. Take care 👍
Hi Jenna. Recently discovered your channel and have really enjoyed the content. I’m a STOKIE from Porthill and this content is just fabulous really enjoyed the Jollees episode with the beloved Mel Scholes. Keep up the good. All the best. Dave from the Album Review Channel
Wow that take me back to the mid 60's 70's and early 80's when I used to visit my untie Mary and uncle Herbert Riva who lived in Maccelsfield. As my untie was a local cub leader, and I used to go on walks with them as a child and later on with my wife and children where we enjoying camping at Barnside Camping ground with her and her group were we walking around Rudyard Lake and the local area. Past the hall many a time, such a shame it's like it is now though. Good informative video though, well done.
A interesting place with history and yet in a sad state of decline . You sad its grade 2 listed so why hasn't anyone stepped in to save this iconic building so sad really. Thanks for touring us around a building sadly shortly to be falling down. Best wishes for 2024 🎉and greetings from Simon and Beth ❤🙋
It's a beautiful building, been recently and a crazy alarm system was activated in a different part of the building than where we got to see so we didn't stay long unfortunately, great video so sad to see the building decaying as it is
@@TheRedHairedStokie it was horrible we couldn't hack the noise we had to leave it was like someone screaming down your ear in surround sound, how the hell did you stay with that lol

Yes that was there when we went in, completely deafening! We managed to only trip it a few times luckily.
