Yeah. I like when a Sled bucks me around a bit can make transitioning easier if you time it with a bump. I do like the idea of a more firm, Narrow seat. Easier to hop over to the other side can really dig your knee into it. I also do like the handle bars as far towards the front as possible but losing adjustment I'd say is a downside. The levelling in the front of the running board. Is great! I think. I'd have to try it to know. But I feel it would help with quick changes in slope when you have your feet that far forward. Although wheelies is a bit frightning. Would have to right it to know how safe it feels. But nice to know it's easier to roll side to side, that is a nice +.
Thank you! I believe coming off a pro s as a trail sled and Polaris having done away with the xc skid that this rave may be the next best thing for someone who wants a playful 137”.
Great quick comparison Luke! I'm up in Muskoka and a lot of my buddies have been buying freeride and backcountry 146's lately (rip to the freeride 137) so they can rip powder fields and get the nose up on-demand while still being manageable on the trails to get from point A to point B. In my mind the Rave RE kind of fills the gap that the Freeride 137 left behind but does it better. 146 can be a lot of track for some, especially if you're a trail-biased rider, plus the Backcountry and Freeride have a relatively narrow stance which can cause added ski lift on the trails. The Rave Re seems like it's going to be the perfect sled for someone like me who likes to rip trails, hit the powder fields, ride un-groomed stuff and have fun while doing it. The uncoupled suspension I think is what makes this package work. Getting the nose up and getting loose on an MXZ or Renegade can be difficult, but I have a feeling that's not the case with the Rave lol. So, to sum it up, in my mind the Rave RE sits between the Renegade and the Backcountry/Freeride in the Ski-Doo lineup. All the fun of the deeper snow sleds but with a more manageable track length, wider ski stance, and presumably better ride quality on/off-trail with that insane PPS3 suspension. Cheers man!

I have the 21 XRS and in my opinion its too flat for the way I like to ride. Even with the rear skid adjusted to the lower position it does not transfer enough for me. This could be the ticket. Well done guys, keep it up.....Now get out there and ride it so we know. You're the only feedback most of us will get before plunking down considerable coin.
Hi Luke I have the 2020 XRS now and had a Renegade 850X before that. My main question about the Lynx is I think it looks hot and cool but.... Because its for rough trails and I'm getting older , my back feels the Moguls allot these days. The suspension and the fact this Rave is made for that enviroment would it be easy on the back on our Ontario trails for a aggressive but not a total speed demon style rider
Here in Norway(Part of Scandinavia) this is a very rare sled. People buy boondockers, rangers, commander and xterrain. Also, we are not grooming trails the way you seem to do, but they are by no means the snow-x track you are describing. Speed limits are 70 km/h, if not to twisty no trouble going faster
@@jankriegerinc.9001 How you feel boondocker does in low snow conditions? Could many use it for trail riding one day than mtn the next? When I was in sweden last year, only did off trail in your mtns.. So didnt get to see how temps were "on trail"
Does the RAVE come with e-start in US/Canada? In at least Sweden they come standard with manual start but you can add e-start at spring order if you pay extra.
Great review. What you said is so accurate, it’s not a better sled then the other it’s just better if that’s the style of ride you like. Plus you guys are about to hit 80k in subscribers. Way to go!!!
Love the plushness of the Rmotion X I feel like with how I have mine set up it can handle little stutters great and still avoid bottoming on big hits. Ive always wanted a bit more transfer even in the lower front arm position. Ill be very curious to hear if the Lynx is just stiff or if it can be set up to do a little bit of everything.
The RE(RE stands for Race Edition) are very stiff, I ride one myself(an X-terrain RE 850 3700 - the Backcountry 146 XRS would be very similar) and rode '15 Renegade XRS before. Can they be plush? Sure but it would take a valve job to accomplish. IMHO the rMotion is a better skid than PPS on trails for general riding, maybe putting on a 2-up seat etc. The rMotion is just great, period! The PPS are way more playful and are super strong built and its a wheelie monster. You cant really make it do other things great other than what it was made to do. Its made for very harsh trails and it works at its best when you ride it hard. Slow riding isnt really where it shines. A common mistake some do, even in Scandinavia, is they start to adjust the shocks for it to keep the nose down(stiffen the rear shock low speed and pulling up the center arm) but this will only ruin the way PPS works. They wheelie! If you dont want that in a sled, buy a Ski-Doo. Another thing many will notice is that a Lynx isnt as good in deep snow as Ski-Doo counterpart. Its an old saying that you need to move up one track length for it to compete with a Ski-Doo in deep powder. This was specially true some years ago, today they are getting closer but they are still not there.
@@akmt9114 your welcome. Many asks whats so special with the pps suspension and only Pauli Pippola himself could give a straight answer but as you can see, both arms stands very close to each other. The front torque arm and the rear scissor are mounted very close on the rails. This will always create a wheelie machine by itself. It's hard for the rear shock to resist weight transfer so it would needed to be very stiff to counteract this behaviour which in turn would ruin the overall performance. On rMotion the arms are spread apart giving the rear shock much less torque to overcome plus the coupling also do what it is suppose to do. The biggest difference between those two are while the 137 rMotion isn't a bad climber being a 137", the PPS don't do this very well. Doing a u-turn in the middle of a down slope will only raise the front end pronto. The PPS are also known for trench a lot, specially the stiffer RE models. My best advice is to test a Lynx before you buy. If it fits your style of riding it will probably do it with excellence.
Losen maximum(spring, flatdriver and 17mm) the rear shock on the pps3, and it will beat the r-motion all day long. and the mid spring pressure to medium. Set a shorter limitedstrap, or to the highest setting, for keeping it from wheeling like crazy.
Nice break down Luke, I am looking forward to ST seat of the pants feeling between Skidoo’s new active suspension and there tried tested and true XRS KYB package. How they compare in both real world riding and on whooped out trails!
Great overview Luke. Both are great looking machines. It does come down to what kind of rider you are and the area you ride. It will be fun in the deep stuff I imagine with it picking the front end up so easily. Great Vid Boys👍👍👍. Ride Safe
My experience from yesterday while filming is that its not great in the deep stuff. It does lift its nose but it just ends up trenching. Handles great in the deep snow, but doesnt get around as well as a renegade.
@@pavmentsurfer13 right on thanks buddy. I’m riding a 17 850 renegade x and it trenches a bit but gets back up on top. I’m going to wait till you guys get some miles on the rave to here more. Ride safe
Luke - Great job explaining differences. For those of us with multiple sleds from BRP that have to buy windshields - Are they interchangeable? Can I take one of my G4 screens and put it on the Lynx?
Great question. Im not sure. Ill have a look at our collection of windshields here and see. any windshield that doesnt have side portions that contact the body will work.
long since you are so enthusiastic on a snowmobile, I think this will scare blows on the other manufacturers, yamaha and artic cat now have to come up with a machine that matches this, myself I have driven 4 strokes since 2004, rx1 apex now artic cat thundercat, fit my running style, but now I get the urge for a LYNX ...
Good review wondering how it would handle in some powder im in Northern Ontario and ride ice trails and go off trail quite a bit have you got the chance to try it in about 4' of pow ?? Thanks !
I'm riding a 09 MXZ 800r Adrenaline so any newer sled I would prefer lol .. If choosing between these two and after racing motocross for a long time, and being a more Aggressive rider I would probably choose the Lynx because i think it would suit my Riding Style more..

I would LOVE to give you some comments and impressions of the Boondocker models, but we dont have any mountains here so we couldnt do it justice. Normally we'd travel to get impressions of mountain sleds but this year we havent been able to.
Lynx looks good. Not SRX good, but really good. Of course looks are subjective but I’ve personally never liked the stub nose Doo look. Prior series was a sharper looking Doo sled. Good article.
It really doesnt. Its not an off trail sled or a crossover at all. In fact, while filming my test ride yesterday I got it off the trail a few times in deep snow and it doesnt work very good. It just tries to wheelie and trenches like crazy.
@@pavmentsurfer13 ....good to know! Sounds like a really fun trail sled...looking forward to hearing your opinions from the ride review on whether that’s true or not.
We just got our Mach Z yesterday and both AJ and Luke are working on smashing out content as I write this. The plan is to get things online as quick as it is ready.
Another very informative video. I got a question about the rear suspension. The RAVE rear suspension doesn't use torsion springs like the the XRS dose. Do you know how a bigger guy would go about changing the rear suspension to make it stiffer? Would you need to change the springs on the shocks themselves ? Both of the sleds look SWEET 🤘 Keep up the AWESOME reviews on NEW sleds and other tech.
The shocks have threaded bodies so for a bigger guy youd just wind up the spring. If your ALOT bigger you MAY need a bigger spring, but I doubt it since they are setup very stiff from the factory. I would say its more likely that lighter riders would need a lighter spring.
Thanks for the reply back Luke. Look forward to the next video you guys do on the Lynx RAVE RE. Also looking forward to all the great information you, AJ and Mark will be putting out on other 2022 sleds. Keep up the great work you guys do for all of us sled heads !!!
I'm curious to why they didnt bring the Ranger models over. Rave and Boondocker got their opposites, while for example the 49 Ranger got no competing models from the other brands.
Hey Luke, I’m undecided between the new renegade x with 1.5inch paddles or the new assault, I would be in the UP and don’t know which is the best for off trail and in trail
Luke I was curious. Seeing how the handlebars do share a lot with each other and I know Skidoo offers the adjustable riser in accessories. do you think it would bolt on the Lynx ? Also I was able to go see this today at my local dealer and this thing is amazing pictures and videos do it no justice. Thanks for the videos and walk arounds and reviews.
I would say the minus the ski width i think the rave re is basically gonna be a replacement for the 137 freeride they randomly dropped from the line up..for me a 137 with a uncoupled skid is perfect for my newfoundland riding..put a 2.3 paddle on the rave like on my 137 freeride and it would be the perfect sled
Nice to see our product of our country been exported to north america and reviewed. Just wondering will people understand it was made to our kind of trails. Hope it wont be doomed by groomed trail riders. I like your style of making this video, no over edited, clean and informative. Greetings from the land of the lynx!
@@mikem9953 There are places where they groom, but i don’t want ti ride there. I dont se the point. Maybe it’s because we don’t have any mountains so we need to get our gigs in bumpy trails
I totally get it. We use to joke about secretly dismantling the groomers. But now at 56 years old, and a ton of injuries I’m happy to see the groomer. Maybe I need a ‘red sled’ ? 🤔🤙
That’s not good, not good at all... lol. Total value, peanuts, but I just started getting into the vintage thing, and they/it won’t be a trailer Queen! I fully intend to wring it out like a dish rag and break something (other then my back, for the 3rd time) every ride, or I’m not coming home until I do so!
Awesome! It sounds like it is a beast! I want to see the trail report! It looks like it will rail. How does ther steering feel compared to the renegade.I would think it would have a lighter feel? I know the ski doo can feel a bit heavy in the front. Thanks love what you guys do!!
It feels lighter (your right about the heavy feeling on the renegade) but it still bites better in the turns. Everyone around here whos ridden it has come away with that exact same impression.
I love the new Lynx Rave . I've been looking at lynx for 4 years now. Luke... you sold me on my very first new sled , snocheck . The 2015 pro X 800 Polaris sb. How does this compare to it? It looks like it's very similar.
Arctic Cat. At that height you’re going to be more comfortable walking! Just kidding. Try to figure out exactly what you want a machine to do for you, and be honest with yourself, then without being brand loyal try to limit what you’re interested in by 4 or 5 sleds, then grab your wallet and sit on some, I guarantee you, you’ll keep coming back to the same sled and saying ‘Oh ya! This is it!’ Also very important to purchase from a reputable dealer! They can make a good sled great, and a not so good sled good. Happy shopping. 🙂
the more i look at the Rave RE the more i want it.. the XRS was supposed to be a race replica, we want a race sled with reverse, and the XRS is just a fancy'd up trail sled, the Rave is the real deal. I'm probably going to give up the 600RS and pick up a Rave to gain a RS with reverse and warranty. can't wait to smoke the 115' gap at the track on the Rave RE. from skidoo i think the XRS Competition edition will be the most direct comparison only for engine size.

Hi Luke
I have the 2020 XRS now and had a Renegade 850X before that.
Same in sweden! The older Rave were popular but now its basically Boondocker or Xterrain. Very sad
This one has electric start!
Thanks for the content. Helped me decide on my snowcheck.
Can you tease us with some smart shock reviews? Lol
Great review. What you said is so accurate, it’s not a better sled then the other it’s just better if that’s the style of ride you like. Plus you guys are about to hit 80k in subscribers. Way to go!!!
Really good review. A sled that can do snow cross stuff on the trail that doesn't require a race motor is a great package to offer!
@@smaug1977 Thank you for this it answers so many questions!!! I was thinking this is just what is needed here in Alaska and this confirms it!
These videos are awesome and very informative, keep them coming please!
Love the video now I need to see a Mach z vs lynx so I can decide which one I wanna buy!
Nice break down Luke, I am looking forward to ST seat of the pants feeling between Skidoo’s new active suspension and there tried tested and true XRS KYB package. How they compare in both real world riding and on whooped out trails!
This was a great quick comparison video thank you
Great overview Luke.
Ride safe
Ugh, gotta keep me waiting on the ride differences.. I will probably be demoing it before you release the video.. XD.
Sit tight. We're working on it.
Really looking forward for the Lynx utility sleds show up in North American
Luke - Great job explaining differences. For those of us with multiple sleds from BRP that have to buy windshields - Are they interchangeable? Can I take one of my G4 screens and put it on the Lynx?
Great question. Im not sure. Ill have a look at our collection of windshields here and see. any windshield that doesnt have side portions that contact the body will work.
Nice review ! The dog doing video booms is cool !!
long since you are so enthusiastic on a snowmobile, I think this will scare blows on the other manufacturers, yamaha and artic cat now have to come up with a machine that matches this, myself I have driven 4 strokes since 2004, rx1 apex now artic cat thundercat, fit my running style, but now I get the urge for a LYNX ...
Any info on the Boondocker 3900-4100 series for us? Love the show, been watching since I was a kid in Ontario! Up un northern Quebec nowadays and very curious about the Boondocker's 🤙 Keep up the good work guys! Best snowmobiling channel period.
I would LOVE to give you some comments and impressions of the Boondocker models, but we dont have any mountains here so we couldnt do it justice. Normally we'd travel to get impressions of mountain sleds but this year we havent been able to.
What’s the shortest track option on these in the States?
Another great video Luke thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lynx looks good. Not SRX good, but really good. Of course looks are subjective but I’ve personally never liked the stub nose Doo look. Prior series was a sharper looking Doo sled. Good article.
Great info as always...would love to see/hear about how this Lynx compares to an Assault!!
Great review, where you able to get it to ride plush? thanks charlie
Luke do you think you will have a smart shock review in before snow check is over?
A ride review that is...
We just got our Mach Z yesterday and both AJ and Luke are working on smashing out content as I write this. The plan is to get things online as quick as it is ready.
Right on, good info, and whats the 🐕 dogs name??? Hes great
Let's go with the ride video I'm dying to order one of these lol
Imagine(o reimagine LOL)the dealer markup on these sleds.........insane potential...
Can I set up the lynx to be good on trail and lake riding
Hey we like the dog in the video👍😀 thanks for sharing the Lnyx
Hey Luke, I’m undecided between the new renegade x with 1.5inch paddles or the new assault, I would be in the UP and don’t know which is the best for off trail and in trail
Luke I was curious. Seeing how the handlebars do share a lot with each other and I know Skidoo offers the adjustable riser in accessories. do you think it would bolt on the Lynx ? Also I was able to go see this today at my local dealer and this thing is amazing pictures and videos do it no justice. Thanks for the videos and walk arounds and reviews.
Nicely done. Looks like a solid rig, but I imagine the price is going to be unreal
Love your excitement. Finally, Lynx in North American !
That tank on the lynx could be a real nut buster.
rave is going to take over for heavier agressive riders cant wait to try
Maybe I missed it--What 137" tracks are available on the Lynx?
Very professional. Great work guys. When you're done with that, I'll take 'er! Lol lbs
Great comparison! Thanks
Lynx have a model called xtrim wich is 137" and almost exactly the same as a freeride 137... hopefully you Na guys can have it in the future
@@albinlinde3399 There is no Xtrim at all for 2022. But yeah, the Xtrim RE is great :D
@@amietinen whaaat :( Is xterrain the replacement?
137 freeride used a rmotion skid. The sled made 0 sense. Should never been built.
Nice to see our product of our country been exported to north america and reviewed. Just wondering will people understand it was made to our kind of trails. Hope it wont be doomed by groomed trail riders. I like your style of making this video, no over edited, clean and informative. Greetings from the land of the lynx!
Right on!
People NEED TO understand this is a Non watered down bump sled!
Maybe you guys will get part of Doos revenue and you can buy a groomer! lol.
@@mikem9953 good amount of sleds to own is n+1 where n is number of sleds you currently own 🙂
That’s not good, not good at all...
Thank you!!
It feels lighter (your right about the heavy feeling on the renegade) but it still bites better in the turns. Everyone around here whos ridden it has come away with that exact same impression.
RAVE RE is a stunning sled in person, HAVE TO SEE IT!
And you have to try it 👌
Will the Lynx have the active suspension as option for 2022?
What is the price difference?
Is there a significant weight difference between the two?
Great episode, Thanks for sharing
I love the new Lynx Rave . I've been looking at lynx for 4 years now.
Luke... you sold me on my very first new sled , snocheck .
The 2015 pro X 800 Polaris sb.
How does this compare to it? It looks like it's very similar.
Can’t wait to get one!!
What is the Weight difference if any ?
Great job great info Luke...
Thank you!!!
Do they have the same chassis
Awesome reviews... What's a good sled for SUPER tall riders? Looking for a 50/50 sled and I'm totally torn !
This is it!’
Also very important to purchase from a reputable dealer! They can make a good sled great, and a not so good sled good.
Happy shopping. 🙂
lynx are better looking and fit and finish is better. glad they are now available in canada. they really are a scandinavian luxury product.
Can you do something on the smart shocx?
the more i look at the Rave RE the more i want it.. the XRS was supposed to be a race replica, we want a race sled with reverse, and the XRS is just a fancy'd up trail sled, the Rave is the real deal. I'm probably going to give up the 600RS and pick up a Rave to gain a RS with reverse and warranty. can't wait to smoke the 115' gap at the track on the Rave RE. from skidoo i think the XRS Competition edition will be the most direct comparison only for engine size.
That Lynx looks sick!
Hey great job...but superstar....
Remove the sunglasses...
Your no Slash!!😂
My deposit already given on my 2022 Renegade X Turbo R...
Can't wait man!!
I really want to try that seat
I like the Lynx but man 17K is a bit much.
you can buy skidoos Mach Z for close to that price lol lynx isn't worth it
its only green paper
C'mon! Not about the loot$$man!!
Etc wrong with you??🤦🤦🤦😭
@@jasonthomas2714 lol if your paying for it no problem but here in NY we barely get enough snow to ride on so that's way too much money for 3 months outta the year to ride...no thanks.
Your price for Lynx is bargain here you pay that amount Euros if you want one...
