“Holy eye pin” and “Come at me bruh body language” made me actually cry laughing lol. Poor Jim just wants to be friends and I’ve definitely been there before. Wishing her parents the best!

I actually had to laugh a bit when Dave approached her the first time and she looked at the target stick like: "Are you serious, dude?" xD
    Very expressive bird.

Don't give up y'all! My Macaw HATED my husband from day one, and two years later they are going amazing together! ~ I do a bulk of the training so I still have his 60% of the relationship but our Macaw just goes into full baby mode when he sees my hubby now, all content fluffs and baby head bobs, and we can both comfortably handle him at the same time too 😊 wonderful experience for all of us!

A problem I have noticed with humans is that we tend to think excited is the same as happy. So heightened can look like excited to us and so we think the animal is happy.

Whoa. I don't think I have ever seen such aggro posturing from a macaw, as at 4:08 - 4:21. Not a shadow of a doubt that this bird meant business.

I have been WAITING for this video! I have the EXACT same thing happening with my MALE macaw towards my husband. I almost never get aggression taken out on me when he moves, but I do watch him just to be careful.
More of these videos would be awesome if possible!!!
I’m extremely grateful for this video! Thank you Jamie and Dave 😁

Also with dried fruit they use sulfur to help preserve it most of the time and I am not sure how safe that is for birds.

    I've been following every
    video of yours pertaining
to baby birds 🐥 and it's
SO TRUE to start off with
    a SOLID foundation! It's
    simply AMAZING what a
TINY baby bird can do in
    such a SHORT time! This
    week it's bath 🛁 time. I
    haven't found a video on
that yet, but I will, thanks
    so much, Jamie! 😊✌️🐦

I'm going through some of this with my IRN. He isn't very interested in target training, will only bite me if I'm interacting with him, and anyone walks into his room & getting him to step up is proving to be a challenge- if he does he runs to my shoulder 😂 I've got a lot of videos to watch for help with this.

I find the video really sad as my husband and I bought a female galah two years ago and she hated him from the first interaction. She’s super calm for a galah, likes petting, is very interested in training but that is what happens only with me. She bites him every time he asks for a step up, like from the first day. She chases him, attacks from his back and that’s very sad for me as he never did anything bad to her. She can train with him a bit without stepping up and flying, she can allow to pet her neck, but that doesn’t help. I wish I understood her to know what exactly bothers her so much in him.

The problem here is they truly don't understand parrot type birds they have one mate at least most types do they have evolved over thousands of years a few training sessions cannot override that behavior they naturally defend their mate for survival it would be the same thing as training a married couple to accept other people in the relationship if they are committed that won't happen people just don't truly understand birds that's why they get rehomed so often you have accept the good with the bad OR DON'T GET A BIRD! it's that simple

Can someone help me with a “leave it” command for my bird? He gets so angry when I take things away from him he’s not supposed to have (My phone for example, or a fluff of hair I don’t want him eating), and he shrieks and tries to bite. Should I only be using distractions to redirect the behaviour each time? Get him to step up?

    I have 3 untamed budgies
I would like to train 1 ,I tried to change thier diet but they would not even eat it , touch training does not work as the become scared tof the stick and are afraid to take treats (seeds) from my hand.

    • @Bullen_3
      @Bullen_3 Год назад +4

No. They need to phase this behavior out through training the the bird and changing some of their own behavior.
This bird thinks that the woman is her mate and finding another spouse won't change a thing, the bird will still feel threatened and territorial around someone else if nothing they do is changed.
We change the the bird's behavior to a much more desirable disposition,by WORKING THROUGH the problem.
Just going out and finding a new spouse won't fix a thing. And that's not a very reasonable suggestion..
