  • Hello! to all In this video, I demonstrate a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of a medical syringe, focusing on the reaction forces required to pull the plunger. The syringe consists of three key components:
🔹 Barrel - Made of ABS plastic
🔹 Plunger - Made of ABS plastic
🔹 Stopper - Made of elastomer (modeled using the Mooney-Rivlin material model)
One of the most critical aspects of this analysis is defining the interaction properties between different components. For this case, I have incorporated:
✅ General contact - For overall interaction handling
✅ Surface-to-surface contact - To ensure precise contact definition where necessary
The focus of this analysis is to understand:
✅ How to define boundary conditions and symmetry
✅ How to apply loads at different steps
✅ How to ensure reliable results using proper material modeling
✅ How to properly define contact interactions for realistic simulation behavior
By mastering this analysis, you will gain a deeper understanding of how contact mechanics and material behavior influence simulation results. This tutorial builds on my SolidWorks syringe design and assembly video, so be sure to check that out!
Stay tuned for future videos, including dynamic analysis of medical devices. If you have any specific FEA challenges or requests, drop them in the comments-I’d be happy to explore them! 🚀
