    Picked up my 1989 JDM ESL-X exactly 1 year ago today. I always wanted a manual car and just something unique, then I saw it pop up on FB marketplace and went and had a look. Had been sitting in someones shed, started but could not drive it. Got my local genuine mechanic to install new brakes, power steering needed fixing, still has a small oil leak, but runs amazing now. It only has 175,000km on the original engine and body. It has a B18A engine due to it being a Japanese made one. It's the sedan just like others have with the pop ups, but its a 5 speed manual and has some unique Japanese features which I like. The main issue up next to fix is some bad rust where the upper doors like meet the roof, you know how our regular cars the doors don't like join into the roof? Well since this and some bad rubber which didn't keep water out of the vent part it has caused rust on both sides of that roof meets door area. I'm getting it professionaly done soon it wont be cheap, but I'm happy I saved this car and knowing it is a 1 of 1 especially in Australia makes it worth it to me. I don't know anyone who has an ESL-X edition from the JDM market, even in America.

      That's awesome I've never even heard of that trim. I hope for the best for the restoration of the car. When it's done please send me some clips or photos to my Instagram when it's all done.

    The O rings on the idle control valves get dried up. Need to change them. Vacuum leaks that won't throw a code with the OBD 0 PGMFI system. Two of the sensors that control the FI can go bad. One is the MAP, and the other is the altitude sensor. The MAP is in the 'BOX' in the engine bay. The other is mounted in the car on the blower HVAC unit under the passenger foot area.

    My 88 lxi hatch REALLY hates reverse, and theres a massive whine that comes from driving and even just rolling in reverse gear with the clutch disconnected, I'm not sure what it is, but I plan on taking out my transmission when I do my next clutch job and seeing whats up

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад +1

      Either your low fluid or more than likely the transmission needs a rebuild with new bearings, especially the input shaft bearing. Or possibly your wheel bearings.

    My first car was a 87 Accord Sedan.
    While I no longer have the car
    These were my problems
    The Moon roof leaked
    Other problems I had were the tail light seals failing causing water ingress, this will cause the STOP light fuse to blow as the brake light housing gets flooded.
    The Highbeam stalk would fail.
    I replaced it several times, one could think it was a problem to my car but failures were never the same each time.
    First failure, I could not push the stalk to keep high beams on, but could pull to flash
    Second failure, I could push to keep high beams on, but when I pulled to flash high beams, after a second of holding the stalk I noticed smoke coming from the stalk area.
    Third failure was the same as the first.
    All stalks where from junkyards.
    The High Pressure Power Steering hose split in front of the exhaust manifold,
    This is what ultimately made me get rid of the car, as the brake calipers were also needing to be replaced due to seals failing, brake booster was also leaking but I got that replaced to pass inspection,
    So the car would've failed inspection the following year.

    not sure if you still reply, but, what did you do for your weber swap, how the throttle cable doesnt pull fully or how the TV cable hooks up to it. I am having issues with the TV cable with mine. In your video you said youd send some resources on it, but i didnt see much in the desc for it.

    Can you share the location of the main relay you talk about in this video. Also do you know if there is a difference in parts numbers of the distributor and camshaft between a fuel injected engine and carbureted. Thanks any help info greatly appreciated, AL

    Do the 1986 to 1989 integra differentials have the same problem with the pin?

    I have a question bro Do you know what the fuse for the headlights is so that it opens and closes without the light on? greetings ✌️

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад

      I'm not sure what you mean, you want the headlights to pop up but not have the lights on? There is a button you can press by the ignition that pops the headlights up but will not turn on the lights. The fuses for the pop up motors is in the fuse box in the engine bay and the headlight fuses are located under the dash.

    The main relay is the same for most 80's and 90's Hondas but the plug is just different. I just used jumper wires for a mid 90's Civic main relay from Amazon.

    I've got an 88 Honda prelude that will run for about a half hour and then shut off for about a half-hour it'll start back up for about 15 minutes then die. I replace the fuel pump all the filters up to the carburetor the relay turning on the fuel pump put a fuel pressure gauge in line and it's hitting where it should maintaining that pressure as well. What would cause this kind of problem?

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад +2

      I would check the ignition stuff next, distributor cap/rotor in good condition or ever replaced?

    • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 Год назад

      @@aziangarage The ignition system was my first thought too, especially the ignitor and coil. If these have a crank sensor, that's also something to check. Next time it dies and won't restart, quickly pull one of the plug wires off and check to see if it has spark before it cools off. If there's no spark at the plug wires, check to see if there's spark at the coil and report back.

    What injectors are you running in your car? Looking for a part number for upgraded injectors if possible.

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад

      The stock 240cc low impedance injectors (resistor box). You can run almost any Honda injector or GM style injector with the appropriate top hats adapter and wiring.

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад

      If running high impedance injectors your going to have to get rid of the resistor box, if you want to stay low impedance for whatever reason DSM injectors are an option.

    I have a carburated 88 lx accord. I looked at the weber 3238 but it looks like it would decrease power. I guess not having the vacuum lines might do something. Do you know if the weber comes with instructions to help with the conversion. I have taken the carb off and put back on more than I can count but if this conversion can take away the hassle of all those vacuum lines then hell ya. Things like the EGR valve and the air suction valve what would I do with those? And the Distributor? and does this affect the cruise control? Love this video btw! This car seems like a hassle to find information about. Reading the haynes and chiltion manual don't mention these problems or suggests a 3238 weber carb. I really do appreciate it!!

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад +2

      The Weber 32/36 and 38 are bigger than the stock carb, paired with the right fuel pump and jetted correctly I guarantee it will be an increase with power. It definitely wad noticeable to me and I didn't re jet a thing. As long as you have the adapter plate for the intake manifold . Worse case you can make one or have one made. Distributor stays just connect the vacuum hose for vac advance to the Weber. You can just block off the EGR. I think a Weber install video is on the list.
