- Classic Game Room reviews SPACE INVADERS: INFINITY GENE from Taito and Square Enix for PS3 Playstation (and Xbox 360 XBLA). This review of Space Invaders Infinity Gene has best gameplay showing Space Invaders Infinity Gene on Playstation 3 with game play in HD. Space Invaders Infinity Gene has more in common with Japanese space ship shooters like Mars Matrix (Shmup style games, shmups) because of the moving playfield and chain combo style multiplyer. Awesome crystal clear sharp visuals and thumpin' tunes make this a cool "evolved' version of Space Invaders that should appeal to SHMUP fans as well as some Space Invaders arcade veterans.

For a video made 11 years ago this feels still fresh and made just yesterday. Great video
I LOVE the graphical style of this game, and it looks more fun then most full priced retail releases!!
Dude, I love CGR! Every time I'm looking for space shooter reviews on youtube, you've got em. Thanks man, keep em comin!
Love the art style of this one - very cool and very different take on one of the oldest classic arcade titles that's been done to death. And yet, this title shows more innovation and evolution of it's original concept than many big budget sequels do nowadays.
this game looks gorgeous! thanks for the review, would have probably missed it if you hadnt
That last bit of game play footage had my heart racing!
Awesome, I was waiting for you review of this game.
Epic 1974 chain, reminds me of the home version of Pong for some reason.
Thanks for the review! You should review PixelJunk Sidescroller... it's by far my favourite shmup (great retro gameplay, great retro visuals, scoring system and leaderboards are designed to perfection)!
You are a master at what you do. I was curious about this game and what better, than to get a quality review from the CGR.
@ptwob Indeed, but the 3D-angle stages aren't in the iPhone version...
Damn, that looks intense. Amazing review Mark, without them my collection of games would be so little. LORD KARNAGE!
With the music thing, you can put in any CD into your Xbox and it will show up in the audio section of your xbox, click it and click rip music. The music will be ripped to your hard drive. You can then play that mode. The action on the screen and the enemys will react and follow patterns and such in the music, pretty cool.
I think he forgot to mention about the nagoya attacks, as those give extra bonus points too
I have the original on my computer. I love how they use the same graphics.
I have this on my iPhone and it's still brilliant. They made a winner with this version.
@jewifeifei the console version have 5*6 = 30 normal levels, i heard the iphone version only have 3*6?
It is also available on the iPhone and iPod Touch. If you've got one of those grab it on the App Store, cuz it's awesome on whatever system you play it on.
This Dish network ad poped up and Im wondering if I should switch? I already have Direct and I love it but should i switch?
@HUYI1 The game is meant to take you through the shmup's evolution (hence the theme of the game) from its humble beginnings 30 years ago up to the bullet hell shooters we play today. For instance, the Gigantic UFO was clearly inspired by Stage 3 of R-Type, and you see references to many other shmups throughout the game.
With this much high energy shooting and techno music from such an awesome sequel to a such a classic game, I can almost feel a Gradius V review coming...but maybe that's just wishful thinking.
This is an excellent game - bought it and KoF Sky Stage at the same time, and the latter has only been played once so far.
The second I heard "like Mars Matrix", I was sold.
this game is so awesome, and some awesome music. can u beleve this is also on the iphone
I Would Love to see them bring this game over to the ps4/ps5, Xbox one/the newest one, and Pc.
You forgot to mention this game is also on iPhone/iPod Touch! IMHO its vertical screen gives it the most arcade feel, and you can turn it 90 degrees for horizontal scrolling action, too! Not to mention that the touch interface makes it easy to weave between bullets! My favorite moment in the game was the RTS3 (R-Type Stage 3) inspired battle with the gigantic UFO!
This game on the iPhone freaking onws!
Totally getting the PS3 version!
@Alcarldk btw, they had a thing called space invaders extreme
It originally comes from the iphone/ipod touch
and it works very well for them
I bought this for my iPod Touch and its amazing.
I know what my next PSN purchase is now...thanks Classic Game Room.
at the next E3, you should focus on those back-of-the room games there, the kind of games we dont see at Gamespot or ign.
The demo felt like space invaders merged with rez but written for the Atari ST home computer.
is the console version short? because i beat it on ipod touch under an hour
This game is so much fun on my phone. But now I have to go buy it off the PSN just to experience it on a screen that's larger than a few inches.
Cool! Cheers Mark : )
I love the first 10 seconds of the game.
Great looking game; I love the monotone graphics :)
This looks awesome.
best €10 i've ever spent, very good replay value in this game.
@Alcarldk It should make it to those systems eventually. I have it on my iPhone right now.
when the real space invaders come Ill be ready cause I trained on these games and I have my techno collection ready!!
Mark, if you like this, I reckon you'd like Shatter on PlayStation Network. It's Breakout but better :)
thnxs 4 the post ~
@MIBsecretagent PS3 and 360, but there's a version for iphones
This is better than the original Space Invaders. It plays like the classic Space Invaders, but with brand new twist of gameplay!
what are those blue balls they look like plasma nades
Nostalgia... I just hate how this game got completely forgotten, and left behind ): it’s amazing and I don’t know why no one even talks about it anymore.
Did it just get deleted out of nowhere? I can’t find it anymore ... :(
@@user-xf2rm7pp4z yes, it is no longer available...
yeah this is a pretty neat game, quite a change from the original game indeed haha
Iv got this on PS3 (PSN). The game is one of my favourite Shooters ever! Its Space Invaders but Evolved.... anyways im gonna get back ta playing it! Lol.
I love playing randomly generated stages with custom DNB music on PS3 😎
It's like Space Invaders meets Gradius via Vectex.
@Robertskull9 Actually, the iPhone version was released before the XBox/PS3 version AND received better reviews.
Incredible.
I playd the ps3 demo. and its awsome. I have never had a huge apel for retro games. but this was extecy
Amazing game. Get it on XBOX 360 and it adds another level of gameplay. I've bought it on every device I've owned since it first came out just to have it.
I love this game!
@MIBsecretagent He said in the video.
This is also on the iPod touch...
@Gmod1001 thats cool things!
.....was also relased on android and (i think i don't know this for sure) ios
It's been out on iPhone for well over 9 months now. It made good stages out of my music.
I love this game
Didn't this come out for the psp
I'll stick to space invaders extreme cuz it more closely resembles space invaders
Whoa, I like it!
holy shit this game looks awesome
@MetallicMushroom Well maby not but i still think it has a retro syle to it
this game looks amazing!! l demand a PSP port!
Want Good shmup on the Xbox360?
Mushihimesama Futari
Espgaluda 2
and Dodonpachi Resurrection(This November)
Has there HD remixes for the console.. please.. review them.. try them out.. there like Gigawing only without the overused shield thing XD
@SackboyMania Quite honestly, I was hoping for thumbs down. I am sick of seeing thumbs-up whores, so I made this sarcastic post. UGH I should have put "*sarcasm*" at the end.
Can you still get this?
I didn't know they sell seizures in the PSN/XBLA Market place
why didnt he show the 3d parts of the game?
You don't need great graphics to make a great game. Look at the simplicity, and I bet it is beyond fun!
i like the guy reviewing this cgr thing coz he does not swear like the irate gamer who is sooo imature thumbs up if u agree
What's the song 0:02 - 0:08
Hey mark umm I found a game thats just like this its in the namco virtual arcade game for the 360 and it might be on xbla still but its exactly like this its called galaga legions
@elbert0p1kachu No. Sticking to one game for a certain genre would be extremely boring.
cool
@tonyutter It's so different on 360.
This game looks siiiick
@bazfanv2 I like GGR Undertow.
i have iphone versoin. also awesome!
@pirosoffaireyes Same, dude!
This game looks like it should be a WiiWare title as well.

@EmeraldWarrior420 It doesn't need skins to look good....
@bazfanv2 Yeah.. how's that crow taste?
@xxchimakaraxx I thought it's one of the best games on iPhone. :x
Nagoya Attack!
1500 chained was a bronze medal?
this looks cool but also really complicated lol
they have to make a flash game version of this game XD
looks like lumines mixed with space invaders
@digioverlord That might be mostly because Xbox 360 has more n00b users than Ps3, due to the fact that there are more Xbox 360 owners than Ps3 owners. This is just a theory, which might most likely be false.
You are definately not a n00b. I'm sure of that.
now that`s what I call a progressive Space Invaders.
