What an incredible RTP by these magical duo - I should say trio- Charumathyji is an amazing partner to the gifted Raga Sisters. The video was very good - with a good sound system it felt like I was in the concert Hall - though I have to admit that the experience of physical presence in their concert is hard to replicate. Bravo !!
Ranjani / Gayatri’s RTP is always a special treat, especially fr me hu turned from Hindustani to Carnatic , of course I admit too late….( except Veena Vaadan , may b bcz my Dad was a Veena player. . .Ametur nt professional )
Excellent rendering. But one doubt which I have for many years. I have heard many such duets right from Alathur, Radha Jayalakshmi, B V Raman Lakshmanan, Hydrabad Brothers n so on. Somehow I have a feeling one of the singers seem to dominate the other. Never a equally participated duet. Correct me if I am wrong.
This bound to be there when one of the singers is more gifted and it is graciously accepted by the other. Gayathri always goes into unexplored territories and bring out novel ideas whereas Ranjani sticks to the traditional idiom. That is the beauty of their concerts.
So there’s no raga called as Khamaj in karnatic music, it’s called khamas with an ‘S’, and is unlikely to have any relation with the raga khamaj of Hindustani
