I always wondered what's the difference between construction lines vs. Center lines.
Thanks for clarifying this. Now I know.
Excellent content without any extra fuss

A centerline also changes dimensions from radius to diameter when referencing it during sketching.

Forgot about that! Would have been a good point to add in the video.

Thanks. Very useful. I was half expecting going from centreline to construction would break the mirror

I often wondered if there was a practical difference. Perfect explanation!

I understood the use of construction lines and find them very useful but did wonder at the use of the centre line, very well explained, thank you.

F360 seems quite happy using a construction line for mirroring (without having to make it a centre line first). The only time I use centre lines is for a revolve.

I would like to add the all the automatic selection of the center line stops working if your sketch has more than 1 centerline

    • @Fusion360School
      @Fusion360School  Год назад +1

That makes sense, though it is hard to imagine a situation where you would need multiple centerlines within a single sketch.

@@Fusion360School you are absolutely correct but I am sure someone out there might do it by mistake and think since they are colinear it wouldn't matter

I’m not an expert but I thought centrelines were there to clearly indicate their role. More as semantic information than being special tools.

Centerlines are one of the most useless sketch entities.

Considering they are somewhat useful, that says a lot about everything else 😅
Seriously though, as much as a single mirror or revolve isn't worth the hassle of making something a centerline, sometimes it is nice to have

I use them all the times when modelling parts for turning on the lathe. It makes dimensioning way easier because you can insert diameter values instead of radiuses when you select them.

Ещё проставление размеров по другому себя ведёт.

What would be your solution for a design like this? www.boredpanda.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/3d-printing-faucet-design-american-standard-laser-sintering-7.jpg
