- In this episode, Rob is joined by Welsh actor and singer, Luke Evans, to discuss his new album, A Song For You, released on 4 November.
Luke also lifts the lid on what it was like to play Gaston in the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, his experience of starring alongside Tom Hanks in Pinocchio, and how he came to tread the boards in the West End at the age of 21.
He also opens up about being the victim of childhood bullying.

I can hardly wait to receive my signed copy of Luke's A Song For You! I ordered it as soon as it was allowed, and should also be getting a Christmas card with Luke's signature. It makes me happy to know that a voice like his is finally finding a much wider audience.

I’m glad that Luke Evans has become successful and loved by many; his discipline, hard work and determination has truly paid of dividends. It’s disheartening to hear that he was heavily bullied at school but he’s come out the other side a warmer, stronger, handsome, compassionate and beautiful soul! Well done Luke! You deserve all the success your career has to offer.
Luke absolutely radiates joy, kindness, talent: this speaks volumes about what a brilliant guy he is, from where he came from, to realising all he has inside of him. Presumably those bullys are stacking shelves at the local Spar, or selling second-hand cars!
Nothing wrong with shelf stacking of course. We all have to shop. But, yeah! He has so much to be proud of. Da iawn Luke!

I absolutely adore Luke Evens Welsh actors never seem to let it go to their head. Enjoyed this interview. I had family that immigrated to the Ronda valleys. I understand the bullying and so does my son it unfortunately comes back to the parents who teach their kids to bully others. Luke is proof of how to come out the other side. My son is currently at uni studying film.

Luke Evans pretty much gets an automatic YES from me!!!! Simply because he is Welsh!!! I’m a fan of the Welsh because my BF is a son of Wales. He’s in Costa del Sol. 🥰 He’s the most proud, grounded, strong, passionate man I’ve met. The grit. The inner strength. Plus his icy blue eyes. Because of him I appreciate the Welsh Anthem and the Welsh history. I fell in love with Dylan Thomas because of my darling Richard. I loved that he is proud of being Welsh. Wherever he was, and he traveled a lot, he was always himself, Welsh, and owned that with dignity. I’m from California and we’re proud of the weather and the beaches. LOL. Not the same.
Great talk with Luke. I'm from South Africa and he is such an inspiration. His openness is mind blowing and he is such a humble person. Wales is indeed beautiful and he is a true son of the soil of Wales. May he go from strenght to strenght. I loved watching his show in Wales with so many other celebrities. Thank you to his Mom and Dad raising this wonderful person and to saw his Grandfather in the audience of his show, was super special. 🎶💕🎶💕

Hearing Luke talk about his childhood and his journey brought a small tear to my eye and a feeling of relief when he described coming to London.

Lovely interview, great people. Always enjoy your chats, Rob and Luke Evans is a sweetheart. He showed an impressive level of maturity in recognising, as a child, that the bullying was a period in his life that would pass and not let himself be defeated by words and actions of those less brave or talented than he. Heart warming and inspirational.

What a lovely interview. Reminded me so much of my upbringing in the coal mining North-East, leaving school at 16, moving to London at 17 and going into theatre then television and film. Well Don, Rob! ❤
I had the exact same mindset as Luke as a child. Mine wasn’t about being bullied at school but by my parents. I knew it wouldn’t last forever. It was hard at times and at some points I thought I was going to give up but I’m very lucky I made it through.

I had a hard childhood and much like Luke, I just knew I had to hit 18 and I was going to be okay. I love him and just really pull for him. (To be fair, he has done perfectly well without my well wishes so just a lot of continued success!)

I was Bullied at School on the School Bus,by Two Twin Brothers,it was virtually everyday ,it badly Effected me ,they did Bugger all for my Mental Health,a Maths Teacher embarrassed me in Front of the Whole Class,I HATED Maths because of that Experience,I am now 51 ,when I look back at my School years,they were NOT ENJOYABLE AT ALL 😢☹️
