Marianne is lovely. This clip is very lovely. I cherish that I saw her in concert twice and met her three times. She is a great artist.

I have adored this woman since, (well too old to mention, younger than her but...!) due to us both being vagabonds and other companionable "stuff" I have not seen her in concert- I love watching Shindig and Hullabaloo esp- I even know( usually) who designed her dress,AND YOU MET HER- was she a surprise in any way? I'd be too terrified to open my mouth as the cliche goes- she is so clever and so sensitive in areas one might expect her NOT to be and sadly I share some of her traits- I wanted desperately to look like her at 17 and to have her soprano voice and her wardrobe and then not now, Jagger. I still dig her style and will always adore her. Leonard Cohen was my "pepper" to her salt- I prefer my idols well tarnished! Do you read any of the the books she has spoken of- I enlarge any photos of her to see what she is reading! We do have similar tastes but she has broadened my horizons. When she was sick with covid a few months back I said some Buddhist words for her daily and kept up with the BBC and Rolling Stone daily blurbs- I have a few antique treasure/keepsakes, and I wanted to mail her something but couldn't afford shipping! let alone locate her. Sorry for blathering on- my hubby likes her "old" voice and obviously her looks (yesterday my copy of Girl Under Leather arrived!). I have seen it lots of times, on you tube and I hope it stays put- if you haven't seen it, do watch, great lark. I realize this is 2 yrs back but tell me one thing about her that surprised you, are you a journalist- how did you get to meet her 3x or is it none of my biz?! Namaste, Z apologies again for blathering, Eric knows I am a nut job about her and lonely too- have a very, very, excellent day, keep healthy, what is your favourite Faithfull lp? Broken English here, but I usually listen to the early stuff- is she as beautiful when not posed for the camera?

I met Marianne in 1968 when she and Mick Jagger visited Frank Zappa's log cabin in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood. They sat in the kitchen with Frank and his wife Gail. Mick and Marianne were like a double act - he spoke, she spoke, he spoke, she spoke. By contract, Gail never spoke. She sat mute, allowing Frank to hold centre stage. Such a contrast.

Is she as beautiful in the flesh? I've loved her since I was 12- and Frank graces our front door- kids ask me who he is! Draws attention to our Amnesty membership - a hint at Doing Something for Somebody Else...Namaste

@@MSYNGWIE12 Most definitely. You can see her beauty in the You Tube interviews she's done. However, at that time, in 1968, I found her a little theatrical but she seems to have got over that and matured in a very impressive way.

you don't know that for sure. more powerful forces than you are aware of may present themselves and prevent this happening. there is a long time before such events are predicted to happen so maybe even humanity will figure out a way to stop it if we still wish to stay on our base planet by that stage. so don't talk such rubbish mr londen. you did say ALL things change. so that prediction of the sun enveloping the earthy might change as well. wake up and smell your partners fart under the sheets mr londen. wake up man, and lay off on the baked beans while your at it.

Hi Eric- not angry with me, I pray- like this lady, I have issues...but I AM a worthy pen-pal, a trustworthy long distance friend...I guess, being in "the biz" you're aware Marianne took up residence at Denville Hall Retirement Home, for Iconic Performers- sorry if I already sent this- she needs oxygen and I hope you never find out- I had oxygen tank therapy for migraines, sounds SO "Faithfullesque", high drama, doesn't it- ah, catch me in your arms, as I fall, Pre-Rahpaelite stunner style, ( if you are otherwise occupied make those arms, Leonard Cohen's ghost- no I haven't totally flipped, man, necrophilia is a drag, REALLY ERIC, Marianne chides...) was this longer- did you edit - I am doing a small favor for another Faithfull-ite I met on Y.T. a charming French lady who wants a book list- Marianne was reading from Kipling-
DO YOU KNOW WHERE ONE COULD FIND ( WAS ON Y.T.) A COPY OF A BBC PROGRAM: WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? Marianne 's was fascinating of course- her mom, Eva's past as a dancer, Germany, Weimar Republic? Think CABARET, LIZA MINELLI, very bohemian lady she was- can't find that episode- don't know why was taken down-
Oo, oo, just thought of another author, The Marquis de Sade, whom "she prefers over Venus in Furs, written by her grandfather or uncle? My copy got nicked way back by an adolescent...Have a wonderful day. Namaste from A NO Snow (weep, weep, I love snow and would move, to Northern Norway, North of 60- way north- lots of snow and Leonard Cohen-esque blondes for partner, fjords for me...)

So aristocratic, Marianne. Or was she? The persona afforded her seems quite misanthropic. Years spent homeless on a wall were the antithesis of what her parents designed for her.
Her voice, to this day, is serenely beautiful.
