Rumor has it that the less Jesse has to say about a song, the more he loves it. This plays in a mode called Cyber Grind, it isn't really training mode, but like a highly configurable arena type area.
I love the fact that this track created the Cyber Grind, and not the other way around. Meganeko was inspired to make this by early versions of ULTRAKILL and when Hakita heard it he knew he had to put it in game somewhere, and thus the Cyber Grind was born
There's a funny bit of trivia involved with this song, if memory serves: after experiencing Ultrakill when the game was still in its infancy, Meganeko was inspired to compose this song, and when Hakita later listened to it, he knew he had to put it into the game somewhere. So he eventually decided to create the in-game Cyber Grind feature, a.k.a. an 'infinite horde mode' on a variable-morphing stage where the player tries to last as long as they can against progressively more dangerous waves of enemies, and put this track as its theme. Yes, you read that right - Ultrakill's Cyber Grind feature exists because of a *music track.* If you couldn't already tell, this game is BONKERS.
In Ultrakill, you essentially play a blood-fueled robot traveling down through the layers of hell, slaughtering every damned soul you meet (and anyone or anything else you may find along the way). It's a frantic first person shooter that actively encourages you to be highly aggressive because their blood restores your health, so you find yourself constantly in enemy's faces trying to balance between doing damage, healing, and trying not to get hurt. I should warn you about two things: one, it is *not* an easy game, and if you don't have experience with shooters you may find it exceedingly difficult. Two, there is a *lot* of secret content, which you may struggle to find if you aren't an obsessive lunatic. If you care about finding secrets, check a guide.
Ultrakills soundtrack has no misses. Most of the music is made by the developer Hakita, as his artist name Heaven Pierce her. My personal favourite is Death Odyssey. But Cyber grind is the standout Ultrakill track.
if you listen to the riff at 4:30 in the track, (4:51 in this video) you might recognise it from somewhere. A bit of a musical easter egg, and a nod to Mick Gordon.
This is an interesting one cause Meganeko isn't really a video game composer per se, but is very video game-adjacent. His music is used/liscensed in a lot of rhythm games, and his electronic style usually sounds very VGM-inspired (this song's a bit of an outlier). As far as I'm aware this is his only song that's originally composed for a game though. Meganeko's relatively popular so I imagine him being featured gave the game a solid signal boost. (It's how I first heard of it, anyway). Though aside from being A: hectic and fast paced, and B: really good, it definitely sounds like a Meganeko song first, and Ultrakill song second. It doesn't have the same identity. It's missing the unnerving, anxious, panic-attack feeling, and the "filthier" sound the rest of the soundtrack has. Which I just now realized is probably why it's separated from the main campaign, so it's hardly a problem.
Hell, I'd bet that the inverse happened just as much, with Ultrakill heavily introducing many people into breakcore/breakstep/breakbeat (whatever people feel like calling it at the moment) and particularly Meganeko as an arist. Certainly someone I'd never heard of before, same for Keygen Church.
when the shades are in the thumbnail you know it's gonna be a banger wait a minute... was that a synthesized cowbell!? Nani? Sheesh this song went all over the place. So much energy. Even the more "mellow" section felt high octane. That descending melody on the keyboard with the shredding in the back? *chefs kiss* adding this one to my music playlist for sure lmao
Funnily enough, Spotify recommended me this song before I even knew about the game. I can't say the game is my cup of tea (too fast paced for me) but the OST goes HARD.
It's been a while since I listened to a version of Cyber Grind that didn't have "Everybody get up it's time to slam now We got a real jam goin' down Welcome to the Space Jam" as lyrics.
The thing with ULTRAKILL is the further the level, the better quality of content you'll get in terms of gameplay, levels and especially ost. At least from my experience after following this game for like 3 years of development, I can actually feel the dev improve over those years.
So uh funny enough that comment you read isn't far off lol. Cybergrind is also the name of the mode and its basically a way to farm points for the shop and also to trial out weapons so uh yeah it is the training mode. Also just saying i swear every time the guitars kick in you get a dps buff because every time it kicks in your brain just says "the violence has escalated".
This track is just pure blood pumping goodness, it plays in a mode where you’re fighting endless waves of enemies, so “training mode” is actually an apt description. I’m not surprised that Jesse was speechless and just vibing along, that happens when you first experience a lot of Ultrakill’s music.
So cybergrind is slike and bloody palace from dmc. Infinite levels, more and deadlier enemies spawns with each round and arena reshapes itself. You really feel like an unsotpabble death machine while this ost is playing, untill you fall of arena like a goofy cartoon character. Hope you will streaam ultrakill, this game is really awesome and unique.
Just in case you didn't know, New Blood Interactive is pretty much a Studio/Publisher that specializes in old school style games with graphics and gameplay calling back to PC games of the 90's and even 80's. Their motto is, and I'm not kidding here, "We Hate Money
If you liked this song, I highly recommend reacting to Tenebre Rosso Sangue because its mine (and most of the Ultrakill community's) favorite song. The song hits so hard in a similar way to this, and honestly so does basically the entire OST so I recommend the any other songs that other people suggest from this game.
Ah, yes. Good ol Ultrakill. Punch your bullets and perfectly hit everything by shooting a coin you toss. A game where even nonsensical things get kept in by the developer if it's fun enough. And the rest plays like Doom and promotes style points.
Rumor has it that the less Jesse has to say about a song, the more he loves it. This plays in a mode called Cyber Grind, it isn't really training mode, but like a highly configurable arena type area.
arena type arena
It's the "endless" mode essentially
I love the fact that this track created the Cyber Grind, and not the other way around. Meganeko was inspired to make this by early versions of ULTRAKILL and when Hakita heard it he knew he had to put it in game somewhere, and thus the Cyber Grind was born
Jesse pulling out his sunglasses is always a good sign
Yup I always knew if thumbnail have Jesse with cool glasses, that OST is S-Tier

Meganeko is the name of the artist. I've never played Ultrakill myself, but basically everything Meganeko does is peak
ironically thisis the only track meganeko did for Ultrakill
@@N4melessWanderermade an absolute fucking banger and then just left

This song specifically wasn't Hakita, it was meganeko just for clarification on anyone reading this hence the "most of the music"
@@gbtygfvyg Right, my bad. I just assumed people watched the video where he stated it was Meganeko.
Technically theres also tenebre rosso sangue(made by KEYGEN CHURCH & Heaven Pierce her)
@@cakeeyplayz I said Most.
If you like death odyssey, you're really gonna enjoy "death of god's will".
if you listen to the riff at 4:30 in the track, (4:51 in this video) you might recognise it from somewhere.
A bit of a musical easter egg, and a nod to Mick Gordon.
This piece is one of, if not, the most beloved in the whole game, it's only rivaled by 3 other pieces, Tenebre Rosso Sangue, ORDER, and Death Odyssey.
Don't forget WAR

Love this game! The soundtrack really helps you get into the fast paced action

Jesse absolutely needs to listen to Tenebrae Rosso Sangue. It would be amazing
Funnily enough, Spotify recommended me this song before I even knew about the game. I can't say the game is my cup of tea (too fast paced for me) but the OST goes HARD.
i'd say the game and OST match in vibes
Severe skill issue
This song is how I found out the game existed lmao

I listen to meganeko casually, so having you listen to one of their songs is pretty awesome
Holy moly indeed. Damn that was sick

You recently just listened to a song made by HEALTH for cyberpunk 2077. HEALTH also made a song for this game, and it's an absolute banger
They also did the entire Max Payne 3 OST which is one of the best parts of that game.
I would love an ultrakill playthroufg. It’s the purest/most innovative fps game I’ve ever played in terms of design/mechanics
We'll finesse Jesse into playing Ultrakill eventually.
Eventually.
When violence is the science, this is the theme of The Lab
Hell yes more Ultrakill! Cyber Grind, too, one of the best!!
So cybergrind is slike and bloody palace from dmc.

I see Cyber grind and jesse, I click it.
Hyped for you to get to Lisa: The Painful requests (I assume there MUST be). The music is cracked.
Meganeko is so damn good, I'm so glad he could guest on the Ultrakill OST. Easily one of my fav tracks in the game.
I recommend Tenebre Rosso Sangue.

Would love to know what you think of the rest of the soundtrack in general if you’re checking the game out
I'm late to this, but.....Yes~
You have to give a listen to ORDER, superb piece
i recomend reacting to tenebre rosso sangue, its a good theme too (sorry if my english is bad i dont really practice that much)
Can't believe it took so long for you to get to this song
How long is your backlog of PayPal song requests? (Just out of curiosity and timing reasons)

I have a bit of a wild song suggestion:
The Darkest Lord's theme from Miitopia
Tenebre Rosso Sangue when
where can we see you try the demo 👀
MORE ULTRAKILL
I beg of you listen to Tenebre Rosso Sangue
That is one of my requests for him to listen to, so he'll get there eventually.
Bro was flabbergasted. Honestly, Cyber Grind goes so hard.
