  • High in protein and easy to bake, these lentil crackers are gluten free, delicious, nutritious and much more economical compared to the fluffy commercial packs. Two varieties are shown here but possibilities to play with flavours in this versatile recipe are endless.

    Great recipes and techniques. Didn't realize you could grind lentils. Also, placing the smaller pieces in the middle of baking sheet - nice. Thank You for sharing.

    Hi, these look much easier. Can I use soaked lentils or cooked lentils in this recipe as it is easy to digestate.

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  11 месяцев назад

      Hi, using lentil powder/flour is quick and easy way to make crackers. You can use soaked/cooked lentils also but procedure will be longer as you will be dealing with a wet batter as compared to dough in this case. Check my Quinoa Cracker recipe for idea on working with soaked lentils ruclips.net/video/4JwhoJxk0jo/видео.html

    Thank you. I eat plant based, but limited, alot of "no's" on one hand & some yeses on the other. I like the no soaking; lentils don't have to be, but many recipes suggest soaking. Adding the mortar & pestle: What is that type. It isn't the typical I usually see. Interesting.

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  3 года назад

      Thanks for your visit Peggy. I'm glad you liked the recipe. Yes there is no soaking required, just need to powder the lentils. You can even use pre-made lentil flour to cut short one step from the recipe.
      Regrading mortar & pestle, this miniature version is made from metal. Very handy to use for grinding small quantities. It's easily available in Indian stores and a must have in every Indian household :))

    To prevent adding too much water just wet your hand and continue mixing. Use a glove to cut down on messiness.

    This looks amazing and will definitely try. Thanks for the recipe... I have all ingredients except the chia seeds. Is this necessary?

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  2 года назад +2

      Chia seeds help with the binding. Crackers will not hold shape without chia seeds. Alternatively you can add linseed powder or psyllium husk, both will solve same purpose in recipe. Good luck!

      But you should ALWAYS rinse them several times before using, so they will be wet anyway.

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  9 месяцев назад +2

      You are right and if you look carefully ingredients list does mention that lentils are washed and dried. It doesn't need to be completely dry as lentils will be roasted before grinding. Just getting rid of excess moisture by rubbing between kitchen towel will be enough before using in the recipe.

    I have previously soaked lentils, how can I adjust them?

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  2 года назад

      You can either drain and dry your soaked lentils in low oven setting or out in the sun, which obviously is a time consuming process. Alternatively I have a recipe for crackers with soaked quinoa. Same way you can make with soaked lentils also. Sharing link here, hope it helps.

    Is there an alternative to parmesan cheese, thank you

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  3 года назад +3

      You can add any other hard crumbly cheese available or if you want non-dairy alternative then nutritional yeast is a good option. Mix nutritional yeast with some cashew powder for the fat component of cheese or a little more olive oil.

    Without oven can we cook? How long they stay fresh at room temperature?

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  3 года назад

      Hi Archana, haven't tried myself but I guess you can cook on stovetop using a heavy bottom pan on very low heat. Keeping pan covered will help even cooking. You can also search some techniques online for baking without oven. Let me know how you go if you try these without oven.
      These crackers can be kept for weeks at room temperature in airtight container but may lose some crispness with time.

      Hi Parul! any hard cheese will work instead of parmesan or you can even skip cheese completely. Really you can add any flavourings as per taste and availability into the base mixture and it will work.

    is chia seed mandatory?

    • @CooknCreateHealth
      @CooknCreateHealth  3 года назад

      Not mandatory but chia seeds improve binding and also provide some elasticity to the dough. This ensures less cracks when rolling dough to make crackers. Flaxseed powder or psyllium husk can also be used instead of chia seeds.
