Came across a fan-made Mockery Breed that was ALMOST a match for a proper Werewolf conceptually. They used large breeds of dogs as the baseline to make Weredogs that actually have 4 forms that match the Garou same for the completely human form. The thing that defines them more than anything is the utter loyalty they have to their masters. They even have gifts and can side step, but since they're creatures of Civilization it becomes harder and harder for them to do that the more rural the location they try. It also mentions that if they realized they had bad masters and were thus bad dogs, the rage they'd have against the ones who had lied to them their entire lives would make a Black Fury tell them to calm down.
Most of them seem to be on the weaker side, though I've dabbled in 'abominations' like warped Shifters due to experiments, who may be more formidable than low rent shock troops. Mixing it up can help, change ups, complimenting factors perhaps like kinds of Fomori or, of course, much worse.
I play more of a Hunters/Ghost Hunter type game. I prefer WarWolves to Garou mainly because they seem to be a more classical (horror story, movie) type werewolf. A diseased, rabid, ravenous monster. More than capable of killing people. I used them as the basis for my Werewolf (the 80's TV show) conversion.
The War Wolves themselves are not something very remarkable for me. Poor sick creatures whose existence is miserable and painful. But the very idea of DNA is quite interesting. Given that Lycanthropy has a genetic basis, I believe it is theoretically possible to use the Reaper virus to create its analogue, but with the opposite effect, namely the introduction of the Change Breed gene into ordinary people, creating a huge number of new Kinfolk. Perhaps this would significantly increase the ranks of Gaia's army. And as always, the video was excellent! I love your work, thank you 👍
I would think that making everyone a changing breed would be even more terrifying. Imagine if they all went through their first change at the same time... That WOULD be an apocalypse
@@TheMapleTable Well, I probably didn't think about it ... Yes, such a large-scale transformation of the population will be ... destructive, to say the least.
Actually, "Lycanthropy" of Changing Breeds is not based on DNA, Pentex and others tried to find the gene that makes it possible to shift into different forms, but failed. Because the thing that makes it possible is actually their connection to the spirit world, the fact that they're part-spirits, apart from part-human part-animal. And this "spirit-part" is transferred to their children, kinfolk or shapeshifters, but not through genetics, any shapeshifter in Homid form is 100% human, even in terms of DNA. You can check Changing Ways book from 20th anniversary edition, it has a lot of info on how Garou, and presumably other shifters, "work" from scientific and mystic perspective.

As a werewolf the apocalypse outside fan (aka loves the lore, wants to play the tabletop but no one nearby plays), I am really enjoying Earthblood and am greatful for it's existence. It's too bad that it wasn't an MMO with an entire world and other players thought!
I wonder if there could be a Mockery breed that mimics the "infected werewolf" trope that causes problems for the Garou. Obviously, these are not them.
It's been a long time since I've heard anything about these guys, and don't remember much about them, but I do remember being upset that they didn't have a fashion breed variant. Like the gilla monster Mokele.
There aren’t weredogs specifically in WWtA, but there is a fan supplement called The Debased that revolves around what happens when a few optimistic werewolves tried to use a certain Rite to enable to open their breeding options.
Planning to run an encounter where a War Wolf has taken over a small log cabin and uses it as a home base and has their own Kinfolk that they rule with the iron fist and devours any of them who opposes the War Wolf.
I always liked the mockery breeds when I ran them in my WTA stories. The War Wolves were fun to hit the classic werewolf stories while my Garou players would be trying to figure out what was going on. Was a great mystery story.
Personally, I have the War Wolves experiencing a unique mixture of circumstances. War Wolves get made in Pentex labs outta stray dogs, only to be skinned for the Rite of Sacred Rebirth, creating intelligent War Wolves that have access to more than 2 forms. Adding to that, the Hollow Walkers exist thanks to Cernunous, meaning that these guys can now mix with the pre-tampered War Wolves to create a stable, Wyrmic Garou tribe. Pre-Hollow Walker Metis and all
Mockery breeds are great they actually can challenge werewolves in combat. Let's be honest out side of BSDs if you are a heavy stealth werewolf with good combat skills like a BG Arhoun you got something that can surprise attack kill like a shit ton of people.
They are in the w20 book of the wrym. Its displayed on the shelf behind me, although the titles may not be easily read :p they start on page 161 I believe.

If a vampire was to try and embrace one what would happen? Would it die like most abominations. Or would it have a higher chance of survival and be something like a gangrel ?

I love Mockery Breeds. I have no idea why, conceptually, they would not make great antagonists.
I agree with you about that on the War Wolves, I happen to think a greedy Yeren would make for a very interesting BBEG for a short story arc.
The War Wolves could make good pathetic shock troops, especially if guided by say… A Yeren…
