Get a box of the cheap plain Knox gelatin. Mix it into juice from canned corn with a couple drops of yellow food coloring. Use enough so it gets pretty hard after it sets up. Chop it up into little cubes and you have a TON of artificial corn. It keeps a long time in the fridge and stays on the hook a lot better than real corn. Nice fishing video! The officer was ok. At least he told you other places to try. Hit those guys up for info! They see a lot of guys fishing, and know all the good spots. - Joe

I would fish at the base of the dam in the pool between the dam face and the raised concrete lip downstream of the dam, which used to coral some pretty big carp. We didn't even keep the fish, we'd remove the hook carefully and put the fish back in the water, we just wanted to try fishing once in a while ! Fu*k, it's not like I have a 100 ft Chinese trawler and I'm fishing off the coast of Maine !
Yep, it's BS. Not sure when this type of overzealous policing began but in in 2011, I was 16 or so and got a $50 ticket for having a 5 year state license but NOT a local permit. This jerk-off ran my license over the radio too to make sure I wasn't a criminal on the run or something.. At 16, when a lot of kids are out smoking pot and getting into trouble but they decide to mess with the kid doing some fishing on a little 20 acre pond? Really ruined the experience for me and didn't fish again for years after that. But I did start running around my with friends that got in trouble for a couple years after that because it didn't seem to matter if I was fishing or underage drinking.
An unfortunate end result of massive irresponsibility by a faction of the fishing public. Many, many folks are still being totally selfish in their actions by taking undersized fish, allowing fish to die and then throwing them back into the water, taking over limit, taking out of season..., the list is almost endless. And, unfortunately, attempts to correct illegal behavior without law enforcement is generally met with abusive responses from the rest of the public. Much like people claiming that they teach their kids values like honesty and the same people labeling someone a "rat" when they report a bad actor, many fishermen dislike the abuses by a few but also do not act to stop it. 20 years ago I was practically chased off the Belmont pier for having the audacity to confront a guy who was about to cut up a halibut that was about 6" under the size limit. Even the boneheads around me knew that a halibut that size has not spawned yet and there is no better way to destroy a fishery than to kill off the potential breed stock. But rather than back me up everyone else either ignored the event or criticised me for interfering with another fisherman. Regulation is annoying but the end result of a combination of simply too much fishing pressure and too much abuse by a part of the community. Sad, but without it we would probably have no fishing left at all.

Fun fight for sure. It may take a while to get the fish in because the drag system isn't that great but overall u won't get a fight like that on any other rod.
Carp are definitely underrated as fighters. Good video and way to be chill with the ranger than being argumentative. Not sure why they would restrict corn....not going to catch a steelhead with that and you would think that they would want folks to catch carp. Keep up with the great videos.
The idea is that you are giving that native fish a fair chance at its life, as opposed to tricking its innate behaviors by "matching the hatch". It's supposed to even the playing field in favor of that native fish, in this case, steelhead, which are endangered thanks to our politicians. Hence the enforcement.
Can you catch carp on artificial bait? Pretty chill fishing video. Hopefully you can travel and maybe go do some fishing up in the Great Lakes at some point

try using a small chartruse grub and put scent on it or marinate it in thick kool-aid or a jello slurry.
Yeah that sounds like it could work
Yo, that is a very clever channel name good job.
Thanks man
I like that beat bro i subscribed just cause the beat sooo you better be able to fish to keep me
Welcome to the channel... There is more beats and more fishing...
Use Berkley Gulp Corn Bites. They are larger than the bits and look like corn.
I will check that out... Thanks for sharing...
That was a nice goldfish! I never knew the barbless hook rule, I fished down there a lot back in the day and used a worm, with a worm hook, never took the barb off! Good job on the PB! Enjoyed the vid and educational!
Thanks man. Yeah a lot of people don't know all the rules for that specific river including myself.
Some areas are not allowed to use worm anymore LOL artificial only
That's ridiculous
Dang , I remember when wardens show up they ask u got extra beer , times change
Oh man... I have never had that experience... That would have been cool though...

Love seeing y’all catchin in Cali I heard not to much water over there. I visit long time ago paradise lake, it was electric boat only , big bass gotta find them
But that was about 15 years ago. Love fishing Cali when I visit . 👍👍😎😎
Oroville lake too they got record sturgeon there
Yessir... Orville does have some amazing fishing...
What a nice fish 🐟 those are the fun ones that fight a lot
Thanks man I appreciate it...
Great video
Thanks man...
Man I’m watching ur video cause I’m scared of the wardens and I’m literally boutta go carp fishing on that exact rod
Fun fight for sure. It may take a while to get the fish in because the drag system isn't that great but overall u won't get a fight like that on any other rod.
I've never used barbless hooks in rivers in San jose 😳 is it same rules for los Gatos creek and galdaluupe river by Almaden lake?
Guadalupe river rules are barbless but I don't know about Los Gatos
At lake Cabot fish corn free lined on ultra light tackle for carp
Ok cool
Carp are definitely underrated as fighters. Good video and way to be chill with the ranger than being argumentative. Not sure why they would restrict corn....not going to catch a steelhead with that and you would think that they would want folks to catch carp. Keep up with the great videos.
Thanks man I really appreciate that. Yeah carp fight hard. 👍👍👍
The idea is that you are giving that native fish a fair chance at its life, as opposed to tricking its innate behaviors by "matching the hatch". It's supposed to even the playing field in favor of that native fish, in this case, steelhead, which are endangered thanks to our politicians. Hence the enforcement.
“ that’s a huge bitch!!!” 🤣🤣When deuce is walking with the tall chick lmao !
Yessir LoL
Can you catch carp on artificial bait?
Pretty chill fishing video. Hopefully you can travel and maybe go do some fishing up in the Great Lakes at some point
I have yet to catch a carp on artificial bait but I would love to fish the great lakes.
From LA that fight was nice bruh, keep it up and stay safe folks
Thanks man... that thing was a tank... Much appreciated bruh
Cruzin down the street in my 6 foe !
Ha ha yeah buddy
Mannnnn that's dope...just finished the video. Damn near took the whole fight for the video for just that first giant carp lol thats wassup keep doin ya thing b.
Gud look bruh... Yeah it was a monster had 2 take my time with that 4lb test...
Thanks for making it reel. Haha. You don't have spend 100's of dollars to get the big fish. Skill and patience.
More money can buy u quality reels and rods but not needed to catch fish...
@@ItGetsReelFishing I used to watch people fish off the Venice peer here in SoCal with beer cans and fishing line. Looked like fun actually. Fishing for perch. Would suck if they hooked on to a something bigger though lol
That does sound like fun
Gimme a break....
Is this the little lake near the hwy going to San Jose?
No it is Almaden lake in San Jose
Feels good catching a carp on the Lil rod I have one to 😂 and I did same 😂 nice video
Thanks man it is fun
Ain’t no steelhead or salmon going up that swamp😂
LoL
I'm from the bay area now living in Sac, I used to fish couple places local to me, one was Vasona Lake, some big Carp and Bass there. It used to have a very healthy Crappie population there. I caught my biggest Crappie there (17"). Another place I would fish for big Bass was the San Jose Water works. Is that a place that can still be fished?? And on other place not real close was
Uvas dam, really nice Channel Cat lake.
Yeah I really don't target the bass that much. I tend to fish for what I can catch and take home.
LA river style piece of tortilla or salchicha lol
LoL
Can someone tell me where in the Californian fishing hand book it says anything about it being illegal to use barb hooks in rivers. I've checked the book left to right up and down???
That SPECIFIC creek requires you to use barbless. Doesn’t apply to ALL CA rivers
Yeah it only applies to certain creeks and rivers.
All the creeks in Santa Clara Valley have special regulations. Close Nov. to April. As he said. To protect steelhead and the occasional salmon that go up these creeks. The Ca fish and game map works great.
apps.wildlife.ca.gov/sportfishingregs/#skip-to-regs.
12.89 is worth finding artificial corn. Nice Carp 👍
Yeah that spot is dope. Definitely worth it
My neighbor works for DNR he checks fishing license. he would have loved that officer. cause my neighbor, would've wrote you a citation.
YOU GOT LUCKY...
Yeah it could have been a bad interaction
Where can I find the rules fishing in California river specially in San Jose?
If you go to dfg website you can find the rules and regs for the Guadalupe river
Nice catch man!!
Thanks man!!!
Man, you don't even fit in the picture...lol great vid, you got my sub
