My Norwegian Elkhound, Aani (of blessed memory) was a yawn-talker. When she yawned and whined at the same time, it would often come out sounding like "I wanna" or "All righty". My boy, Baldurdash, sometimes talks, too. Having a dog is like having a toddler with the speed of a gazelle.
I used to have a female German Shepard that would eat the insoles out of my work shoes when she got mad at me, and she didn't like being laughed at either.
10 years later and I get this recommended. Whenever a GSD opens their mouth the tiny little bit you know what's coming, they're so easy to read between their ears, eyes and mouth. They also change little movements as they get older to match when you give them what they want. They really are that intelligent of a breed.
My vote goes to the Norwegian Elkhound. A bit smaller than the average GSD or Golden, gorgeous grey color and markings, and that tail! Out of the mainstream, maybe, but an outstandingly beautiful dog.
Best Doggies ever!!Our Sassy and Champy boy are unbealiveably smart..and so sensitive... They argue all the time..must have their way..and we always give in. Those eyes and perky ears.. Can't ever resist.my eyes fill with tears with love for these most beautiful creatures..Thank God ..

OH MY GOSH!!! My last German Sheperds name was Gretchen!!! Once I had a pecan pie pushed out of her way only to return to the room to find not one crumb...not one!! LOL. 🐶❤
Giving your dog everything he ask for just because he is making puppy eyes/ whining is a sure way to make your dog beg for everything and eventually he even might just take things without permission. Plus he will start to not see his owner as the pack leader and that can have pretty bad consequences with powerful breeds like GSDs.
Shep's have such wonderful control of their "voice" when they want to. Like a fine musical instrument, it's coming from some place deep inside them... as they apply it to getting something more to EAT!
My beautiful GS Elsa &hi had many conversations like this. We lost her last year but I have several audio recordings of her. Our girl was camera shy so the audio's are a treasure. Besides being the most beautiful, loving, nurturing they do talk especially when upset! These are just a few very special traits of these wonderful dogs
I’ve been around German Shepherd Dogs a lot all my life and those are Biggest German Shepherd Dog Ears I have ever seen. The Dog hearings is excellent.
OMG, we had a German Shepherd named Gretchen & she was a talker. She would watch for the mailman everyday & he laughed everytime she talked to him. Our last shepherd talked too, her name was Heidi Ann. She would wake our daughter by talking to her. We don't have any shepherd's anymore, but those girls were my babies. It's really true all dogs go to heaven!!! 😊🐕🐕❤❤🙏
Some dogs can be so smart. Understanding most of our words. Learning by association. My Pug is the same though less "talkative". Does give me the look/chin on the edge of my knee or chair. :) Tell him we're done (no more food) or we're finished. He walks away. Gets it. :) Carries on with his day. :) Smarter than some humans. HEH...
Gretchen said quit playing games with her. First you tell her the icing is not good for her, then you ask her to beg for it. Then, after all that, you tell her you're sorry, but she still can't have the icing. Shame on you. That's why she walked away. She said "Forget you". Maybe she went to the kitchen to get a piece of cake so she can have her cake and icing too. She said keep your little stinking icing. I'll get my own.
Janet this reminds me of my dog sheba when she wanted her cup of tea from my mum at tea time she would not take no for an answer sheba would give my mum a paw or climb on top of her and give some noises like this dog and I would say to sheba ok I'll give your tea then we go walkies but give me 5 minutes and then she would follow me into the kitchen and wait for her cup of tea once sheba was satisfied we went for her usual long walk l suppose we spoiled her but then that's what you do with your best friend and we protected her and she protected us especially my mum because I was working during the day and my mum was there all day till l came home and I took over but sheba was 1 percent dog 10 percent human she knew how to get around us if I didn't get up quick enough she would jump on the bed and drag the covers of but the funny thing she slept beside me in the bed like she did when she was 5 wks old and always did l used to wake up in the morning and her head would be on the pillow my nose with hers and l would say to her good morning sheby debs that was her nick name l had another dog called laddie his name was laddie the baddie haha o God do l miss my best friends l don't have them together laddie was the first dog l had then sheba came long time after words
oh look at those beautiful eyes, astonishing! sometimes during the video I felt like I was looking at an animated figure of a dog movie ! wow, so rare beautiful eyes of a GSD.
She looks much like my big baby Hanna, she's going on twelve and in great health, though she had a knee replacement eight months ago she's still going strong, does much the same vocals for walks or car rides, I love it when they dog talk!
