I like the concept of these videos a lot, but... Its kinda hard to review parts from different eras on a same scale. I mean this particular part stands the test of time extremely well, but most parts arent like that. Every part is a product of its time, built on top of already existing parts, you know?
True, but the problem with that part was (as much as I loved it) was just a rehashing of the tricks in this part with a treflip nose slide at the end to spruce things up… this was the part that got apples on the map, where he showcased his tech/gnar combination and blew every body’s minds, as a 19 year old btw in this part.. he was filming some of this stuff as a 19 y/o! Most friggin kids that are 19 at the skatepark today doin all their half cabs and no-comply slappies couldn’t even nollie flip up onto a curb sideways, let alone quickstart down a rounded 12 stair hubba with an annoying rail attached to it 50-50 style grind to land to fuck emoji
Love this review, agree with you guys on almost everything but transition and ender. This was hands down the most influential part for me so I’m highly attached to it… I actually believe he deserved a lower score on transition. There basically wasn’t any real transition. I believe transition has to be some sort of curved landing, a bump to flat imo isn’t really transition. I also believe you guys judged the ender too harshly.. the nollie flip back 50 was the ender. When I was a kid all my friends talked about that as the ender, there wasn’t even any debate. You can also tell this because that’s when the music stopped, and it goes perfectly with the music. The kicky front crook and botched kick 5-0 were the transition out of the part into the next part and highlighted the comedy aspect that mark and that team brought to the skating lifestyle at that time, which imo is even cooler than just cutting it after the nollie flip 50. It shows what it was like to be out filming with them, and if I recall correctly I believe apples said that kickflip front crook was on accident, which is even more goofy, and then he falls into the bushes at the end, all just good fun highlighting the magic of skateboarding, not to be taken seriously as an ender. Fun review tho, guys, I enjoyed watching that! Also.. as that sax comes in as they zoom into French Fred’s outfit, couldn’t get any better than that, that’s the art right there, THAT shit’s timeless.
You guys are tripping! that kickflip front crook was dope the bounce made that shit. also another dodgy filming clip was the crook down the handrail in the dark but filmed with him facing away. you cant tell if its crook or feebs. fred is fucking classic though
When it comes to transition you should give out 2 points max per trick. Having at least 5 gnarly transition tricks is a 10. This should've been more like a 2 for transition. A point for each of those bump to bar tricks but not 2 each because its literally a bump to bar....
The older I get the more I realize just how smooth Appleyard is.
Ha LMAO the video to this song was emo as hell keep em coming such a good part to review after the sinner of pain
From what I remember Mark saying, he said that kickflip crook was an accident. He was trying a kickflip noseslide and it accidentally went into crook.
Do Dylan's gravis part next!!!

The kick front crook, he was going for front nose, it was accidental and he still landed it, but I agree nollie 5050 clippers is THE ender..
Also, its probably the last clip because it says flip really big in slowmo...
Should’ve reviewed his really sorry part. That shit is almost a perfect video part
