Football and baseball saved my grandsons life after being molested by a “friend” as a child.

Or that his stance on organized sports actually building character is wrong? Im not sure what leather helmets have to do with anything, but you just made the point that football is safer because of advancements in equipment and rules changes. @@54fighting5 nope, believe is sport building character but I don’t think football is the only one and to act like concussions and head trauma is the part that builds character is bs. These guys are saying it’s all getting too soft and the tough sports like football save the kids. Even though football also has the highest crime rate of athletes. Sports can get safer and still be sports. Why I brought up the helmet and pad changes.
@@Oregon727 Okay thanks for making that clear. I'm not sure where you got the football/crime stat, but keep in mind there are 40 plus players on an NFL team and about 100 on an NCAA div I program. That may enter into it compared to baseball, basketball etc. I think Tyrus was using football as an example because of his personal experience, not saying kids should play football exclusively. He did mention playing baseball could result in getting hit by a ball, probably to point out every sport has some risk. The main point they were making is that kids today, and their parents, are softer and less likely to take risks, while criticizing those who do. Of course their are injury risks in organized sports but many believe the benefits outweigh the risks.
My initial reaction on January 6th was "Damnit, they should've burned down the Washington Post instead"...and I can't remember a day since where I didn't go to bed believing that more strongly than when I woke up.
