I avoid spraying my front and side neck areas and upper chest all together, you become way too in the cloud of the fragrance and go nose blind within 15 minutes. The back of the neck area is perfect and also the shoulders on the clothes is great to attain the perfect sillage. As for projection goes, you just need to dose it correctly in to achieve the desired projection. For example when I use TF Oud Wood I'd load it up 6-8 sprays versus LV Ombre Nomade I'd do 2-3 max. People complain too much about a fragrance not getting them noticed enough...again you just need to dose it correctly that's all. I learned all of this from a master perfumer and this totally changed the game for me.
I wonder if sometimes when fragrances aren’t getting compliments from others, they are in fact being noticed, but are disliked instead of enjoyed. Unless I have a close relationship with someone, I don’t say anything when a person’s fragrance offends my nose, but I will say something if they smell pleasant.
“Be courteous to others” totally agree. I don’t care if I get called a sissy sprayer but for me, over spraying is like showing off a tattoo... on my face.
I avoid spraying on skin during the day, because where I live the average temperature is around 35°C/95°F and that causes rashes on my skin. I can give your method a try in the evening, especially with sweeter scents that last and linger longer.
I also primarily hit the neck/collarbone area, 2 in front for EDP (3-4 for EDT), one on the back for EDP (2 for EDT) - My personal spot is actually the back of my left hand since I can just bring it right to my nose when I want a direct hit. It's a little light, but I always put on a second scent in the afternoon/evening so I don't really need 10+ hours of performance.
I really enjoyed your video. It was so inspiring and insightful that kept me nodding and taking notes. I’ve watched loads of videos on the subject and this is by far the best one, at least in my opinion. This is exactly what I was looking for. Love you, man! Hugs from Spain.
As someone less experienced in this kind of thing I always did notice scent lasts longer on hair follicles. Usually 5-7 sprayer. Both shoulders, inside elbows, lower chest for 5. Hit both collar bones if I go 7. Four sprays for the stronger fragrances. I don’t spray on clothing. I typically spray two to three for dinner outings.
In the winter I spray equally on my clothes and skin. For example, if I am wearing a shirt with a collar I spray on my collarbone each side, and then press the shirt onto the fragrance. The next day I wear the shirt I have a richer dried down fragrance on the shirt already, then I just spray a couple of 'booster sprays' on my skin, and it smells great; you get the dried down fragrance mixing with the freshly sprayed fragrance. This gives you a deeper more complex scent profile with a fresh top end. If I am going to be up close to someone most of the evening I'll just go with the clothes spray from yesterday and not top it up. This give a really lovely subtle dried down smell. Works best with sweeter, richer, stronger scents. In the summer or in warm weather I only spray on the skin though, as I'll be wearing a new shirt everyday.

Super nice and informative video!! Love your content 🙏🏽 - would be nice with a video on your favorite Guerlain fragrances. Have you tried Guerlain homme eau de parfum before?
Let's see you spray six sprays of Interlude Man from a decant bottle and not choke someone out, lololololol. A great comprehensive video, Justin. Love this very much. I would say that there is more of a "hygienic" side of fragrance that you have to consider before applying fragrances (as you alluded to the "conditions" -- weather, location, skin type, etc.), but in a general sense...you'd better not spray your fragrances on dry skin because that will halve or quarter (based on the scent) the power of your fragrances. That's something anyone should consider BEFORE spraying ANYTHING on. If you want to be noticed and/or want your stuff to last longer, your skin has to be "hydrated" in some way either through a shower (optimal) or through using non-scented lotions, creams, or something related. So bear that in mind. I would go more into the chemistry side of stuff -- me personally, not you Justin, lol -- (skin types, fragrance notes that play off your skin better versus others), but that would be way too much and that's more advanced kind of stuff that isn't necessary unless you're REALLY DEEP into fragrances, lol. But this is a good starter for people who are just getting into fragrances or for people who would like more detail. I also stick to spraying my neck primarily versus other parts of the body (as denser fragrance oils can splotch your clothes up if you aren't careful). If I have a short sleeved shirt, I might spray my wrists for lighter fragrances to add an effect. But yeah, this was a great video. And I signed up for your newsletter a few days ago, so looking forward to what you have to say. :-)
What do you suggest for someone who wants to smell it all day? I don't like only getting the occasional wafts of scent. I'd rather subtly smell it constantly all day, and enjoy how it evolves, but i dont want to go noseblind either. I'm one of those people who does 4-5 sprays on the chest (with enough time to mostly dry before wearing a shirt). I enjoy pulling my shirt neck open and getting a strong hit of the scent at will.
That’s a lot to ask of your nose. Evolutionarily, our sense of smell is not designed to detect one stimulus for a long period of time. The brain will invariably tune out stimuli if they don’t signal a meal, a mate, or danger. I think subtle wafts is the best you’ll get without going nose blind. And plus, even if you can by chance smell your own fragrance strongly and constantly, expect the people around you to smell it twice as strongly. You will reek.
@@stayfreshproductionsGood points. Thank you. I was assuming covering it with the shirt fully buttoned up would mute things quite a bit. I was doing 4-5 on the chest, 2 each on the forearms, and one on the back of the neck (for EDT). I will try the areas you mentioned instead.
I use 3-6 spray and usually my first spray always miss spot so getting that extra spray on 1st part. On our area where we avg 90F everyday and 80+F at night, it's really hard to spray more than 7 without offending someone. I want someone close to me to enjoy my scent, It's like a book, if you want to enjoy it, get close and open it, not like a billboard with blinding flashing neons miles away and read whatever in there.
@@stayfreshproductions I’ll try your way/routine & see if I get compliments/projection. I’ve been doing Jeremy’s & Curly Fragrance’s way here lately/the whole time.
Love the video my Brother, A couple like Santal complet I wanna try. I got Roja Danger and love that scent until I got Alexandrias clone Danger Zone and I found myself wearing that one more than Roja. Plus I actually wear my fragrance the same way..
Nice approach, Justin. I also do it depending on concentration, but more importantly, how it performs on my skin. For example, Danger on my asking gets this very strong coming note, so I do 3 sprays tops on that one.
Amouage...say, Beach Hut or Portrayal man...how would you spray these?...Also on the other end if the spectrum...MFK Pluriel...which is IMO weaker? Thanks. Always enjoy your videos.
Amouage are quite strong. I do no more than 4-6 sprays. With a crew neck shirt, two on each side of the back of my neck, maybe one on the very back of the neck/head. With a open collared shirt, same thing minus the one spray on the back, but add one spray inside each side of the collar on my collar bones.
Just barely finding this video since i just recently started getting heavily into fragrances. I find I only need like 3 maybe 4 on Valentino Born in Roma Intense, but with something like YSL L’Homme i’m gonna need a little more than that, despite both being an eau de parfum
Hey justin. Nice video here where you not only share how you spray but how it varies on perfume concentration and even the fragrance family it belongs in. As for me, i do a maximum of nine sprays: back of each ear, both wrists, shoulder areas of my shirt, back and front of my shirt and one underneath the shirt. I only do this when its a weak performer or when the event im attending lasts for atleast 6 hours and i dont want to reapply. Generally though i just do 3 sprays: wrist and ear (dabbing so the other side has too) and one on the chest. But thats me :)
Hello I recently found your channel n I want to say great work keep it up!! I just picked up a bottle of Armani stronger with you intensely parfum n I want to know how many times would u spray this fragrance? I’ve been doing 6 sprays behind the ears n back of neck but I feel like I can’t smell it enough or that it isn’t projecting that great. Would u have any suggestions on how I should apply this fragrance for a better experience? Thank you n again please keep up the great work!!
Thank you! I honestly wouldn’t spray that fragrance more than that. It’s not an intensely powerful fragrance, but it’s strong enough to smell it a little bit over the day. But keep in mind that other people around you can probably smell it more strongly than you can when you’re wearing it.
@@stayfreshproductions ok thank you. I think I asked this question bcuz I was wearing the scent n I asked my cousin if he could smell it when he got in my car n he said a little bit. Kinda made me scratch my head. Also can u tell me where I can order fragrances n decants online? A good reputable place bcuz I want to try many different fragrances before I actually commit to buying them in bottle form as well. Thank you!!
Had to go back to this vid, I’m getting a tattoo by a pretty girl, I’m thinking Alexandria ii or nefs, how much would you spray those if you’re going to be in a small room for hours.? Thanks for the great content bro 🔥🫡
I would check out this updated spray video if you missed it: ruclips.net/video/mLl00fIvs8o/видео.html For those two, they’re both quite strong and pervasive. They might be overkill for the situation. If I had to pick one, I’d pick Alexandria II, but no more than 2 sprays.
I know this is a very Replica-esque. But considering your jazz vibes (and I love your tunes man!), what are some of your recommendations if you were in a Jazz Club?
Hi Justin. Complete noob here. Not completely related how do you handle deodorant when using fragrance? For example do you use odourless deodorant, do you worry if spray deodorant will interfere with the fragrance scent?
Hey there. I used to worry about it quite a bit and used odorless deodorants (this worked well for me), but I don’t worry about it these days. My fragrance is pretty much always stronger than my deodorant.
Dope intro as always Justin, I’m a heavy sprayer. I go between 6 to 30 sprays depending of the fragrance strength and I can attest it gives me compliments most of all it doesn’t seems to offend people around me. For example I usually go with 6 sprays with the blue beast or tuscan leather and 30 sprays with Mugler cologne or YSL l’homme.
@@stayfreshproductions hey man the spray routine is pretty specific with most designers.. Double sprays around the neck area, sprays on body (3), then 1 spray on under shirt, sprays on collar and to finish 1 spray on top of each hand. With stronger fragrances (like mancera's) I just don't double spray 😊
I've watched pretty much every RUclipsr's "how to spray" video, and they definitely rained me in a bit. I still spray heavier than others, but I use to spray way too much. Now I start with 6 and go from there based on where I'm going and what fragrance it is. But 6 is my starter. One behind each ear, one on the back of the neck, one on throat/chest area, then one on each wrist.
@@stayfreshproductions Since most of the fragrances In my collection are Oud/middle eastern or Niche Eau De Parfums and Extrait De Parfums, which pulse points are best to apply such dense fragrances? Does applying EDP and Parfums to the neck (are you applying closer to the Adam’s apple or near the side of the neck?) promote Nose-blindness? Any assistance you can provide that can help me on my fragrance journey is appreciated!
@@TheMrbeasely At this point I've come to the conclusion that, unless you work in an office or are carpooling or taking an airplane, overspraying isn't an issue.
Something to add; consider the fact that if you’re into fragrances, your sensitivity to the strength is dulled. Keep in mind that people you will come in contact with may not wear anything stronger than a deodorant. They’re going to notice your fragrance much easier than you do. Those people are the majority in the USA.
Hello Justin, how are you? Thank you for that very nice and informative video! I usually do 5 to 6 sprays regardless. Stay safe brother and thank you again.
I work in a smaller office setting so I’ve had to tone it back to 3-6 depending on the performance. I always do back of neck and inner elbows. Usually side of the neck but never the front (some scents overpower me and I develop a negative association with them) Never the wrists since I wash my hands so many times a day I feel it’s a waste.
With the pandemic still prevalent what's the best way to wear your fragrance and get the best performance. I'm usually wearing the neck gator face covering so spraying my fragrance in my neck area is not ideal.
Hm...there's no way to really get better performance so that people will smell it through their masks. You're just gonna have to wait until people can smell normally again, unless you find yourself in small gatherings with friends on occasion where you guys aren't masked
Recently I started spraying 8 sprays of EDT and 4 sprays of EDP. Two on neck ,two on shoulders and two on love handles, two on forearms.🙂. 16 sprays of EDC.😀 in middle east where I am more is less 😀
Such an informative vedeo, great stuff as always. I also get at least 8 hours with d&g the one edp. And it's not that weak as people say. I would not call 8 hours weak and the projection is pretty damn good too. You are also my type of guy( not get me wrong lol :D). Not a heavy sprayer but still gets noticed, remembered and get compliments. Thanks a lot Justin :)
Idk why but sometimes when I spray my neck or chest it burns the crap out of me and if I shave oh hell nah spraying my front on my neck. I know it's the alcohol but some days are worst than others. Maybe because it's right after a shower and pours are open? I can't spray my inner elbows anymore because they dry out and turn extremely red.
It's crazy because I never did before lol I try to avoid the clothes because some of these scents will stay on even after doing laundry lol I sprayed signature from happyland on one of my hoodies and still smells like it a month later lol I gotta get you to try that house one day lol idk if you'll like them though lol you're into those classy scents. Off subject lol I'm thinking maybe the ny cold is drying my skin out and need to find some good unscented lotion lol
Give your skin a break for a few days. If no improvement then make an appointment with a dermatologist. You may have an allergen or skin sensitivity. I have a condition that makes my immune system overactive and my skin swells up badly and itches followed by ear infections. Doctor told me my body is just attacking itself like an allergen and said a Zyrtec a day would help. So I take a Zyrtec daily and it went away. Maybe you can try the same. I developed this weird disorder when I was about 24.
You can rub on Vaseline before spraying and that will help create a barrier and let your skin stay hydrated longer. Fragrances contain alcohol which does dry your skin out.
When you spray 4 sprays total (2 sprays on each side of the bubble that you’re talking about), do you spray on your ear lobes/behind your ears, the sides of your neck, or the area between your ears & neck? Just wanted clarification on that. I know the chest part & behind the neck. Just want to master the technique/routine. Thanks!
Hey Andrew, I'm referring to the area of the neck between the back if your neck and each ear. I'm not actually spraying my ears! It's almost the sides of the neck, but closer to the back.
@@stayfreshproductions I re-watched the video. I got it now. I want to smell as fresh & as good as you so I have to master the technique, master the routine, you know. Always have to get it right. Thanks for posting/uploading this video, man. Much humbled.
And I thought I was the only one spraying right under my shirt (though I like spraying it on my chest) and then taking a whiff even as i am walking outside and people going, "Whaaat the fuu....." I apply only one spray, left side of the neck, right side of the neck, under the shirt, and back of the neck. That's it regardless of type. Will usually go more for EDT but depends on how strong or weak a cologne is.
I want people's eyes to water and lungs tighten up....all you asthmatics watch out. I prefer to buy my cologne at Sams Club they have the 1 gal Bod Man bottles that resemble a bottle of windex. I'll spray anywhere from 15 to 30 sprays.....I mean if you can't tell I've been in the room 3 days later whats the point??? Lol jk I do 3 to 4 sprays usually. I like to spray my neck, back of neck and the chest but on the skin just under the collar. I've found this works incredibly well for colognes like Molecule 2, woody, or ambergris based frags. When my body heat rises a bit that spray on the chest really works its magic....another great video man. btw you should do what frags you like for bedtime....I'd assume you're like me and a lot of other fragrance enthusiasts who like to wear cologne to bed. Might make for a cool video.
I definitely over spray. I do atleast 12 - 15 with all of my perfume. I do not like it touching my skin at all because I do have sensitive skin so I let it settle on my clothes instead.
You should definetely consider making a how to know your fragnance video...I've gone with 4 sprays with my Azzaro Wanted (original one)then went with 7 now I'm going with 8 and i still don't know what's best.4 Just seems not enough and up from 6 too much but 6 is also not enough😂😂😂i'm really confused at the moment..do you know or have you tested the first wanted yet?
Interesting question. 4 sprays of most fragrances (unless its a super light eau de cologne) is enough to be smelled. What is your basis? Are you trying to spray enough so that you can smell it on yourself?
@@stayfreshproductions well i mean i get whiffs of it like 8 hours later but i'm going to be very honest...i'm 17,just got into this fragnance world and all i want at the moment is compliments😅😂my doubt at the moment is that i'm not sure if people can smell me with 4 sprays that's basically the reason i keep upping the sprays(the mask use at school definetely hardens the job of getting compliments i think)
I am an oversprayer, but I don't spray twice the same spot unless it is a very weak scent or if the atomizer's crappy (because it can ruin the scent profile of the fragrance).. My spots for applying are 1 x behind each ear 1 x back of the neck 1 x behind each wrist 1 x behind each elbow (if I am wearing short sleeve) 2 x stomach (in hot weather when I'm wearing a loose top) 1 x behind each knee (if I am wearing shorts) 1 x each lower arm (regardless if I am wearing short or long sleeve) 3 x each side of the top I am wearing 1 x stomach area on my top 1-2 x behind in shoulder on my top (different spots) 1 x below each pocket on my pants I almost never spray all these spots, but I go every time up to 12 sprays Hope this is helpful! Where I live the weather is hot most of the year. So summer fragrances like Acqua di Gio are always welcome. I apply around the neck but sometimes also on my wrists and on the back of my elbows. Usually 6 to 10 sprays, depending on the concentration.

The chest pumps. Good rec for me in suits/jackets. I use wrists often with lighter scents because in professional office settings, I wear fragrances that are close to the skin. :-)
I agree with you! Lots of factors play into it. Just wanted to share what I consider. Thanks for watching!! 🙏🏾
18:40 Yes. "Akdeniz" means mediterranean sea in Turkish. Greetings from Turkey :)
Thank you Derya...and thank you for even watching the video for that long! 🙏🏾
@@sumdood2035 I’ve recently updated this video, and I think it could be even more helpful.

I totally get you! Heat makes such a difference with how much you can spray...

Nice trumpet playing!!!😁
Thanks Chris!
OK I watch the video I love your old spray technique better that’s just me love to contact keep rocking those videos stay safe out there God bless you
Nice approach, Justin. I also do it depending on concentration, but more importantly, how it performs on my skin. For example, Danger on my asking gets this very strong coming note, so I do 3 sprays tops on that one.
I can see what you mean. With heat, the sweetness is thickened and intensified. I spray a little less in the Spring or Fall.
@@stayfreshproductions To me it's the cumin note on Danger that gets very strong. I have to be very careful with that one. Big hugs to you, Justin!
I like you're trumpet intros ... I play guitar ..... My wife plays the skin flute
:(
Amouage...say, Beach Hut or Portrayal man...how would you spray these?...Also on the other end if the spectrum...MFK Pluriel...which is IMO weaker?
I love it! A thoughtful routine!
Had to go back to this vid, I’m getting a tattoo by a pretty girl, I’m thinking Alexandria ii or nefs, how much would you spray those if you’re going to be in a small room for hours.? Thanks for the great content bro 🔥🫡
I would check out this updated spray video if you missed it:
ruclips.net/video/mLl00fIvs8o/видео.html
For those two, they’re both quite strong and pervasive. They might be overkill for the situation. If I had to pick one, I’d pick Alexandria II, but no more than 2 sprays.
I know this is a very Replica-esque. But considering your jazz vibes (and I love your tunes man!), what are some of your recommendations if you were in a Jazz Club?
Thank you!
I’d recommend Memo African Leather, Chris Collins Oud Galore, and Nishane Fan Your Flames.
@@stayfreshproductions Thank you for your reply.
Great video JC! You always learn something new. Keep up the great vids and work bro!
Thanks Jose!!
Damn 30 sprays I guess you go thru bottles real fast.
@@B-Luv82 actually I got too much frags that I'm not running out but yes when I didn't got all these bottles they were flying out in months lol
@@torryjean-baptiste2627 if your trying to go thru bottles then I understand.
Lol damn Torry. Trigger finger! I'm glad you're not offending people and that its working for you. Do you pretty much spray all over?
6 is reasonable! Especially if you'll be outside
Just make sure you don't suffocate people around you.
You start with six sprays!!
Hint, you’re still over spraying.
@@TheMrbeasely At this point I've come to the conclusion that, unless you work in an office or are carpooling or taking an airplane, overspraying isn't an issue.
Thanks JC. Do you ever layer a lighter performing fragrance with something like ISO-E super or Ambroxan to boost longevity and projection?
I don't really layer my fragrances, but I know that combo works for people!
Hi Greg! 5-6 is totally reasonable. Thanks!
I work in a smaller office setting so I’ve had to tone it back to 3-6 depending on the performance. I always do back of neck and inner elbows. Usually side of the neck but never the front (some scents overpower me and I develop a negative association with them)
Never the wrists since I wash my hands so many times a day I feel it’s a waste.
I totally understand! Gotta be mindful of others. I get you about spraying the wrists.
Justin why when spraying the side of the neck..u only spray one side only? Why not one of each side?
With the pandemic still prevalent what's the best way to wear your fragrance and get the best performance. I'm usually wearing the neck gator face covering so spraying my fragrance in my neck area is not ideal.
Hm...there's no way to really get better performance so that people will smell it through their masks. You're just gonna have to wait until people can smell normally again, unless you find yourself in small gatherings with friends on occasion where you guys aren't masked
What is the best distance of sprayer for projection of fragrances?
The distance of spraying doesn't affect the projection!
@@stayfreshproductions What distance should the atomizer be from skin to apply fragrances?
Thanks. I used to spray minimum 4. But hv stopped being a sissy sprayer..-curly.. now I do minimum 6 edt. Edp 4 sprays.
Do you think spray double in 1 position will have better performance than just 1? Thank you bro 😊
It might! I do that all the time.

Thank you! 8 hours is damn good!
Sounds like you have extra sensitive skin, my friend! Try to avoid your neck. Clothes spraying might be your best bet
Very informative, doesn’t your fragrances last longer on clothes?
Thank you! Fragrances do last longer on clothes. But they don’t develop in the same way as they do on skin. I like that development

And I thought I was the only one spraying right under my shirt (though I like spraying it on my chest) and then taking a whiff even as i am walking outside and people going, "Whaaat the fuu....."
I apply only one spray, left side of the neck, right side of the neck, under the shirt, and back of the neck. That's it regardless of type. Will usually go more for EDT but depends on how strong or weak a cologne is.
You're not the only one!
We have similar routines!
I usually do 4-5, mostly Versace Dylan Blue since it has great projection since everyone wears masks now.

Interesting question. 4 sprays of most fragrances (unless its a super light eau de cologne) is enough to be smelled. What is your basis? Are you trying to spray enough so that you can smell it on yourself?
@@stayfreshproductions well i mean i get whiffs of it like 8 hours later but i'm going to be very honest...i'm 17,just got into this fragnance world and all i want at the moment is compliments😅😂my doubt at the moment is that i'm not sure if people can smell me with 4 sprays that's basically the reason i keep upping the sprays(the mask use at school definetely hardens the job of getting compliments i think)
thanks brother, really needed this
Glad it helped bro
Pls do a content on layering how to apply for layering with molecule 01 or any other.
I don't normally layer my fragrances. But I know there are other videos on that topic!
I kind of opposite to the first tip would be when you you already overspray with a sample then massively overspray with a full bottle
I am an oversprayer, but I don't spray twice the same spot unless it is a very weak scent or if the atomizer's crappy (because it can ruin the scent profile of the fragrance)..
My spots for applying are
1 x behind each ear
1 x back of the neck
1 x behind each wrist
1 x behind each elbow (if I am wearing short sleeve)
2 x stomach (in hot weather when I'm wearing a loose top)
1 x behind each knee (if I am wearing shorts)
1 x each lower arm (regardless if I am wearing short or long sleeve)
3 x each side of the top I am wearing
1 x stomach area on my top
1-2 x behind in shoulder on my top (different spots)
1 x below each pocket on my pants
I almost never spray all these spots, but I go every time up to 12 sprays
Hope this is helpful!
Cheers
