I have several study bibles in different translations. NIV Study Bible, NLT Illustrated Study Bible and both the CSB and NIV Woman’s Study Bibles. My ESV Study Bible is arriving today.

My favorite study bible right now is the NASB95 Grace and Truth Study Bible. The notes are so eye-opening for me and are helping me understand context. I also just got the ESV Study Bible and CSB Study bible in digital formats, so I can't wait to dive into those.

The CSB Study Bible is also very good and worth a mention. Same with the CSB Baker Illustrated Study Bible but it's no longer in print as far as I know.

I agree. I had to keep it to a small number. But I’m a fan of CSBs work.

just a bit of correction the N.E.T. Bible DOES contain study notes... it actually has it's notes broken down into 4 categories...
      "translator notes (tn)"...
      "study notes (sn):
      "textual criticism (tc)
      "map notes (map).

Amazing! I got the MacArthur awhile back (great work on that Study Bible), JUST GOT THE REFORMATION STUDY BIBLE today! I can’t wait to work on it. I mean there’s just so much that others don’t have. My only difference of opinion would be that I like the Life Principles Study Bible by Charles Stanley. It takes that same tact of how to apply directly to the day. Have to say I have that ESV Study Bible as well and love it.
One last honorable mention from my personal study is the NKJV Illustrated Study Bible.

I totally agree. I can afford premium Bibles so I invest in them if available. The new faux leather Bibles are really great if premium leather is not available. Premium leather costs of course, but if you were a tradesman, you wouldn’t hesitate to invest in a tool that would last 20 or 30 years, well that is what a premium Bibles is. This is just my preference of course.

Well said. The ESV Study Bible has been a favorite of mine since it was introduced! I have all four of the bibles you listed as well as the NET Full Notes Bible.

I have 6 of the 7 Bibles you mentioned. The only one I don't have is the Holy Land Illustrated Study BIble. One Bible I thought you would mention but you didn't is the Thonpson Chain Reference Bible. I know it technically isn't a study Bible because it is more like a reference BIble. But I claim it to be a study Bible make because the TCR makes you to go digging deeper into Scripture making you to study the Bible and Scripture. Hence I call the TCR a study Bible. 😀 Thank you for this good video today. Blessings brother.

Yes the ESV study Bible is the best! My top 4 would be ESV SB, CSB SB, NET FN and the NLT Life application SB.

My top 4 would be (in no particular order).
    1. NET full notes edition.
    2. The ESV study Bible.
    3. Hebrew-Greek Key Word study Bible.
    4. The Reformation study Bible.

  • @philtheo

Interesting fact is that J.I. Packer's little book Concise Theology was originally a series of 1 to 2 page articles on theological topics (e.g. God, the Bible, heaven, hell) that was written for the Reformation Study Bible (or its previous incarnation known as the New Geneva Study Bible), but then someone had the good idea to collect all of Packer's articles and publish it in a book. Hence Concise Theology was born. 😊

Guess I’ll have to buy the Reformation Study Bible to complete my library as I have all the others you mentioned and I like R. C Sproul. My favorites are the ESV Study Bible for scripture and “commentary” notes and the NIV Life Application Study Bible for its life application notes. When I want a really deep dive, I will pour through MacArthur’s NASB Study Bible. As for daily reading, I love the NASB 2020 Thinline, thumb indexed, red letter Bible. It really speaks to me as I read and meditate on the message being delivered. Thanks for all of your confirmations.

Ignatius press new in Old Testament. And the Lutheran study Bible. Holy Tradition from the Church as taught by his disciples, then bishops etc. is important for people to understand especially today when the churches is in chaos and you have 14,000 divisions outside of his church

If you are Lutheran, The Lutheran Study Bible is recommended, but note the word “The”. It is conservative, published by Concordia . Stay away from “Lutheran Study Bible” no “the”, published by Augsburg and the very liberal (even heretical) ELCA denomination.

Does John Macarthur have a Ph.d on Biblical studies? I think that he does not, there are far better Bible studies than MacArthur´s and the reformation study Bible which should be named "the Calvinist-zwinglian Bible" to be precise.

    • @ClaimingChristianity

Ph.D? Biblical Studies? Would you say then...that nobody without an advanced degree in the whole of the Bible has anything valid to say about it? (That's what your comment sounds like.).
Bart Ehrman has advanced degrees in History and the NT and he's an atheist? So I"m a little lost by your assertion.

    Psalm 40:7
    Hebrews 10:7 KJV
And all these are looking for $$$$$
