  • An in depth look at what was for a while the only Intamin stand up roller coaster left in operation. It's been operating in the U.K. since 1994, sending riders through 4 inversions in a bizarre, but fun layout! 2023 was its final year as a stand up coaster. Drayton Manor then converted it into a sit down coaster called The Waver, featuring a lower height requirement to make it more accessible for families.

@@JRBowling1997 but compare the new surf rider to green lantern, it’s just more graceful and less intense. And with new redesigned trains to adjust for different heights, you can actually focus on the fact that you are standing up on a rollercoaster.

I won't miss it like I miss the old Snake Train... that thing was absolutely legendary, but stupid health and safety wouldn't allow it these days... anyway, I think the park is getting some much needed TLC so despite the family direction it's taking, I'm happy to see a brighter future for it :)

B&M has history of supplying trains for rides built by other manufacturers. Indeed their VERY FIRST contract in the amusement industry was providing new trains for Rolling Thunder (by Intamin/Giovanola) at Six Flags Great America in 1989. In this instance B&M changed the seating arrangement to increase riders per train from 6 to 8.
Since company founders Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard were much involved in designing the track and trains for Giovanola before they started their own, it would make most sense for B&M to provide Shockwave's new trains.

    • @oneandonlysound3453

Very true indeed. I just wish SF Over Georgia would do the same to Georgia Scorcher, it'd be so much more fun and whatever anyone does with SFGADV's "Green Lantern." I say "whatever" because tbh the latter would be a star attraction if moved somewhere else and made floorless or sit down, at GADV it's just kinda there, and it's area would look way better with something actually eye-catching like the park used to have.

When this coasters reaches the end of its life I don’t expect them to retrack it so the new train will outlive the track. Also whilst Drayton Manor do very well they are still quite budget so I can see them paying for a B&M train that will have to have some modifications, especially if it is floorless, when it won’t have a long life
