Thanks Jay. Livestreams will be awesome. Never sure I've expressed enough how yourself and the other OGs have been super generous with your time and help over the years. The software was a great find all those years ago but it was the community which helped me get the most out of it.
That’s a great question and I’m glad you asked. Yes you'll be able to install HitFilm on a new computer, but you'll need to have the installer so make sure you download it before January 15. Compatibility will not be guaranteed on new machines however.
I purchased my hit film pro version before the whole artlist and subscription debacle. I certainly hope that my Mocha plugin will remain with the program. It still asks me to register Mocha.
This is a double bladed question. FXhome had the license to distribute, but the reg/verification servers are Boris, and... I know any version of Mocha below 6.0 can no longer be activated. Ultimately, if your Mocha Hitfilm deactivates, or can no longer register, that's Boris, not Artlist.
This saddens me I tried using Davinci resolve but always end up using Hitfilm. It's so much more intuitive and the special effects compositing are top notch. I don't believe Davinci resolve does the same for effects Compositing like Hitfilm. So sunsetting means no more Hitfilm of any kind in the future?! I was hoping they come out with a new updated version of the program.
The problem with that is Hitfilm uses a lot of third party libraries with varied patent pools. Also Artlist still owns the underlying (original) tech and seems to have pivoted to plug ins. Another issues is Hitfilm is based on OpenGL, which is depricated on MacOS. OpenGL was a brilliant idea in 2011, but there are more advanced libraries now. Ultimately, to really improve Hitfilm one would need to rebuild it from the ground up (this was a discussion Ambassadors and FXhome had even before the merger). While it's sad, Hitfilm's time is up. For devoted users, can probably get another 5 good years out of it. More, depending on how often one upgrades their computers.
@@HitfilmSensei since so many people seem to be loving DaVinci Resolve, that is something I would like to see. Eventually I would have to switch when hitfilm no longer works.
Here is another video on this topic by HitFilm University... ruclips.net/video/fT7mwou0iec/видео.htmlsi=emmk6z9XdlaoWC45
Thanks for the info. Such a sad day to see this happen. This software and community taught me so much
Taking advantage of my sneak peek to "FIRST!"
Sad days, but the Livestreams should be a fine sendoff.

My questions are answered! I plan on a purchase of the full version in January! 😊
Thanks for the info. Even though I use other software, Hitfilm has features I really like. Like the "Lens Dirt" effect is really good.
Thanks for this video, Jay. Because of it I just upgraded from the free to the pro version. I have NEVER liked the idea of renting software.
Thanks Jay, very helpful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This wasn't covered completely in the video... will installation and activation on a different PC be possible after January 15?

Good info to know. Thanks! Also perfect dates for livestreams.
Thank you soo much. I will be on the live stream
Thanks Jay for all that info...
Many thanks for the info 👍
Thank You
👍
It was a good run
oh thanks was wondering about being able to even run hitfilm after this lmao

Ive completely switched over to DaVinci Resolve and learning Fusion. Doesn’t seem like it will be worth it in the long run to stick with Hitfilm.
If I'm using hitfilm express, will it continue to work?
What happens if I wants to reinstall it and need to activate?
Yes!
...but make sure you download the most recent installer that you use.

Jay, why don't you just get HF to put it in public domain with you as director? Easy, Peasy!

@@HitfilmUniversity Thanks Mike. RIP HitFilm. 😪
U forgot 1 question! Will u still teach Hitfilm? If not what will u?
I will definitely continue creating HitFilm tutorials, but I also plan on expanding the channel with tutorials about other applications as well.
