Alice Urizzi it's not just that; Tatantino lists Morricone at the very top of his list of favorite composers, as in league with Mozart and Beethoven. So, basically, this is the culmination a dream come true for Quentin Tarantino.

Capolavori Unici!!!
what a swan song for an absolute legend. the man could weave a potpourri of the complete spectrum of human emotions so effortlessly. One of the last great maestros of our times
As long as all those cinema masterpieces exist, Ennio Morricone will live FOREVER! In fact, he made them those great masterpieces that they are to this day.
In the great tradition of "Once Upon a Time in the West" - where the music wound up being composed and recorded before the film was shot, so Sergio Leone fit the film to the music. But that's the way Morricone often works: He reads a script, then composes music that fits the emotions of the story but isn't fit to the movie shot-by-shot.
I'm smoking a joint with this song and I'm afraid the fbi is spying me for no reason and my house in italy isn't safe no more.. That's the power of music. Morricone's songs make me proud of being Italian 😎
Beautiful film! The last movie I saw at the cinema .. And Ennio Morricone,a Special Genius and hight symbol of the best italian culture.. I Love him,I respect very much and I admire deeply this wonderful man, I am deeply impressed and fascinated by the seriousness, passion and atypical intelligence of his work, which remained "on the crest of the wave" until the age of 91, among other things .. this is a great example for me, for all beings humans, in general I think .. so: thanks for everything, Ennio Morricone! Men like you never die ..
This is the 'Hollywood Morricone', I very much prefer his italian projects and soundtracks of the 60s and 70s including the even more obscure works he did in those years for the general italian library music.
God, it’s just so god damn good. It’s to me a bit of waking up, slightly breathless, knowing but unable to recall the dream you were in, and lying there in 6am quiet and light, you search the mind for the memory that is on the tip of your tongue. It never comes easy, or whole, it comes to us as disjointed flashes as jigsaw pieces. And then the unease as you, lie still, staring up the blank ceiling already knowing it is forgotten.
Very very dark. This is right up there with Two Mules theme and Ecstasy of Gold for me. Once you listen your drawn into the dark journey of the hateful eight.
Apparently some people here felt the need to be self righteous about other people's taste in music. Just enjoy Morricone's amazing work, no need to be pompous about it.
I experienced Ennio Morricone live a couple of years ago. If you have a chance to do so. Do it! There was a similar concert with Hans Zwimmer that I sadly missed some time afterwards.. Will always regret not going! Anyway. What really hit me on the Ennio Morricone concert was the main title to "A Fistful of Dynamite". The movie might be famous for people who was alive back then.. But quite unknown to a younger audience. I have bought the movie but not had the chance to see it yet. With all that said: I got GOOSEBUMPS at the show. Just amazing. If you have missed that song from Ennio Morricone... Check it out!
At 1:53 , if you see, only one of the 6 horses is white, although the characters are 8 in number in the film, it goes with the plot that one of them is a traitor
Note on the violas..say, at 9:21. You can see the bridge on one. For some mysterious reason, the bridges are never stained to match the rest of the instrument. Doesn't even seem to have a Linseed coat on it..or an oil. I cannot believe that a stain would interfere with the transmission of tones from the strings to the body. Same for full size bass instruments. Never stained.
I did some research and I discovered that this piece (at least I'm pretty sure it's the piece, considering how it sounds) was orginally supposed to be used in "The Thing" but it was scrapped until he used it for this movie!
No. The only two themes composed for the Thing but unused in the movie and used in TH8 are "eternity" (the electronic piece in the scene where OB and Walton Goggins create the passage from the Minnie's store to the latrine) and "bestiality" (the piece with only strings in the scene where (SPOILER!!!) John Ruth dies after drinking the poisoned coffee).
I really hope the Abbey Road recordings are released to the general public soon and not just as the limited vinyl issued with the collector's bundle. They're just as chilling and effective as the actual recordings used in the film.
This is so creepy and another masterpiece by Ennio Morricone. He is an absolute genius and shows that he deserves an Oscar for this movie

headphones in a car? why?
no like walking down the empty road
with no lights xD
Saurab Bale Brody Norton Pacino Crowe Oh, walking okay that makes sense :)
most of the music in this movie was taken from a horror movie or was spare songs that were gonna be used in the horror movie btw.
That doesnt count...if you wanna set the mood and the environment to get scared...that wont make the piece powerful...a real horror piece is a piece that terrifies you no matter what situation you are...even in a bright day in your house with your full family and friends arround or alone in the middle of a road in the mid-night

My favorite song from the film.
I would argue that it is not so much a song as it is a piece of score

I feel like the starting scene was built around this piece of music more than this piece was composed for the scene.
