    Thanks for this video! My side view looks exactly like your sketch. Every pair of jeans I’ve ever owned pulls towards my front thighs. Happy to know there’s a fix for it! ❤

    I'm so glad you created this video. I kept pinching out the excess fabric below my bum and couldn't understand why the wrinkles would never go away. I kept messing with the back when I should have been adjusting the front. Thank you! This has been so helpful.

    Oh my gosh, finally!!! An answer to my fitting problem. I’ve always had wrinkles under my bum and could never figure this out.

      :) This is one of a few things that can cause wrinkles in the back... Check your side seam to see if it's pulling forward at upper thigh level to confirm you need more extension on the front crotch/inseam!

    I have been chasing these horrible wrinkles for years and thinking I needed to adjust the back as the front looked great. Nothing has worked. Time to check the front curve. Thank you for your lovely clear explanation.

    Hello, first of all, thank you very much for helping me. This video has been very useful for me. At the first opportunity, I will follow your advice and try these corrections on my problematic patterns and report the positive results to you. In addition, since we work according to the size chart given by our customer, I will have to take the excess you have given to ten sizes from the side seam or back calf. I will see by trying this. I appicate you.I hope to see you again

    I was just directed to your video, and it is outstanding! I am 70 and relearning garment construction. First pants muslin is a bit of a disaster, but it’s a starting point. Biggest concern is “hip dip”. If I lengthen crotch on front, do I need to do the pivot, or can I redraw the seam lines? I want to add some width to the entire upper thigh. Thank you!

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  2 года назад

      Thank you for fitting along with me! You can spread the entire front and front side seams. Then slash through the back side seam to spread it an equal amount as the front. If you need more length in the CB crotch... you can spread the CB seam too. If the CB seam is long enough, you can pivot there when you spread the back side seam. Hope this helps!

    Almost my silhouette except in the back view my waist is narrower with a high hip. I get stress lines on the outer front thigh. Sometimes I have had pants that were too tight in the knee to bend it. I got a larger size and the waist is too high, almost up to my under bust. I only wear pants if I have to.

    Thank you so much for this video I picked up some yoga pants in Walmart this weekend and I have that athletic thigh
    Which I absolutely love
    But I’m like I need more room for my inner thigh I got those wrinkles in the back and
    I was standing in the mirror like Is the crotch wrong but nope
    Even with wide leg pants I still feel like I need more room for the full thigh
    This helps a lot

      :) Happy to help! ... but to through a little "wrinkle" at you... Sometimes with yoga pants, if they are too long or if they are too loose around your knee, that can also cause wrinkles. Pull the pants down at the hem and see if they smooth out. Also if you pin in the side and inseams at the knee that can help there :) Thanks for fitting along with me

    Awesome! I recognised my wonky side seam there! I do have a prominent front thigh ('athletic' is so flattering!) and excess um, leg? on my inner thigh so I'm gonna give this a go. I've been making Lander pants for a couple of years and I've got them fitting to a point but that side seam issue is still there (and probably the back wrinkles too but i cant see that/dont look haha). My prominent thigh seems to produce a kind of fold of fabric in front of the crotch - opposite of camel toe? Like the fabric is pulling between the tops of my thighs across the crotch below the fly. You're demos are so helpful - I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge - thanks!! Cara

      Thanks! That could also be that the front crotch is too low... maybe a combination of adding ease for athletic front thigh and raise front crotch curve a little bit? Thanks for fitting along with me!

  • @violetmoon2283

    This video is making me think that my back thigh wrinkles and tightness across the front thigh when sitting (coupled with my back rise being pulled dangerously low when sitting) is probably attributable to my front rise being too long 🤔 it's also possible that my back thigh is also too long. Having a hard time with my back rise. I'm sway backed, and when standing up my back rise is significantly higher than my front rise, but it always pulls very low when I bend over or sit down. Maybe a full seat adjustment?

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  2 года назад +1

      :) Tightness on your front thigh can definitely be caused by your front rise being too long... the crotch curve hangs down too low, restricting movement. If you're front rise is much shorter than the back, you can shorten the front rise and lengthen the back rise. If you can add more ease to the upper thigh, you can extend your back crotch point.. this will create a bigger space for you to sit down in to prevent the back from sliding. If you already have enough ease at your upper thigh, you can scoop the back of the back crotch and let out the side seams to make more room... You may have to let the side seams out too. Let me know if this helps! Thanks for fitting along with me!

    I'm just starting to get into pants sewing. I have sewn a pull on pair of pants, waist is flat front with elastic back. I have extended the back rise, but the front seems to hang a little lower and at the same time when I sit or walk the back pulls down. I do have a full behind. Also, the intersection of the front and back rise at the inseam seems to be more towards the front. Should I make a prominent thigh adjustment or is there more going on? Thanks so much!

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  Год назад

      It sounds like you need more crotch extension in the front and probably the back too.. I would start with a single leg musin and a separate fitting waistband. This gives you the opportunity to add extra above the waistline, side and inseam so you can figure out where you need it before moving on to a second leg... Check out this Troubleshooting series that I did for my Whole Scoop Multi-Method Pants Fitting Process ruclips.net/video/29iAeDLmvAQ/видео.html Good Luck with your pants fitting!

    Thank you very much for sharing your expertise! I appreciate your advice a lot! Have those hind horizontal wrinkles in my pants omnipresent. Extending the crotch seam sounds like a very good idea. However, the suggested side seams adjustment seems to be the very opposite to what I need for my slightly knocked (X) legs. I usually do the opposite - take in in the inseam and add a little bit in the side seam (0,5cm will do). Any advice?

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  2 года назад

      for Fitted pants... (to follow the shape of your leg) If you're knees rotate inward, adding to the inseams will give you fabric to drape over your knee... Add it there and then see if you need to remove it from the side seam. If you want pants that hang from your full hip and have a loose fit, you may need more at the side seam to "fill in" the curve of the side of your leg as it rotates in and then comes back out to your ankle. Hope that helps.

      @@JSternDesigns Thanks a lot, I understand the latter part of your advice. I try to "follow the path of my legs", thus adding to the side seam and taking in the inseam (I usually make loose knit pants). I try to avoid adding to the width of the inseam . It was only at a really mature age - with my inseam hems poking inward - that I noticed that my legs are knocked... Did you make a video about Xlegs? My 0,5cm alteration seems to work ok. Anyway, another evening on your videos, my head is splitting, so much information, but happy, very valuable to me....

    I have a problem with a lot of thickness at the inner knee, the knee's touch each other and that creates a lot of wrinkles at the back of my pants. The front looks good and the side seam looks straight. Should I cut my pattern so the inseam goes straight down?
