  • I show you the draping of a slim silhouette trouser in a standard design. It is very difficult to achieve a three-dimensional hip and leg shape with only two patterns in the front and back. It is important to know where to use the fabric stretching technique on the trousers.

    This was the video I was waiting for. Thank you for sharing your skill with the world. It’s so inspiring to see a professional sharing his wisdom. I would love to see how barrel leg / wide leg iteration can be draped and maybe with addition of pleats to the design process 🙏🏼

    The most important part here, as you say, is to stretch the fabric in certain areas. Despite that, the technique of stretching is not shown in the tutorial. That is very unfortunate..

    Dear Kondo, grateful to you as always 🙏!
    I have noticed that the center front line is not parallel to the grain line and I am not sure is it because of the camera angle or is it really so. Can you please explain, should the CF be parallel in such garments or should not. And why.
    Also would be interesting to see the ironing part. 🤗

    • @kondosdrapinglibrary9070
      @kondosdrapinglibrary9070  Год назад +1

      You notice a detail in the pattern. The grain line on the centre front is related to the waist darts. This time, the waist darts are distributed in three places: at the centre front, at the pocket position and at the side line. This process eliminates the seam darts. If the darts are not moved to the front centre, the darts at the pocket positions will be larger and will not fit the body line. Or darts with seams are needed in the front. Darts are necessary to ensure a beautiful fit of the trousers to a woman's body shape. However, where you place these darts depends on the design and your sense of style.

    The thing that concerns me the most about the stretching technique is how do you stretch the left and right pieces in the exact the same spot, the exact same amount etc., so you end up with two pieces that are stretched, yet identical..? Can you apply such a technique and always get the same result? Can you make, for example, 10 identical pieces this way?
    I have been trying and struggling for almost four years now to make trousers by draping, also using nonstreachable fabric and I have not succeeded yet. Such a video about the technique of using the iron in clothes making would be godsent..

    • @kondosdrapinglibrary9070
      @kondosdrapinglibrary9070  2 месяца назад +2

      Many thanks for the interesting comments. The technique of ironing on fabrics is inevitably individual. Therefore, this technique is both expensive and risky in this day and age. When stretching fabric with an iron, two pieces of fabric are placed on top of each other and stretched at the same time. Alternatively, a template can be made and checked to see whether the left and right sides deform in the same way. Of course, this type of ironing is not possible in today's mass production, so the quality of the trousers is lower.

    I feel extremely grateful for your videos too. They are excellent. Thank you so much. The deepest appreciation.
    I would have one question. When I watch your videos sometimes I wonder if there are some kind of garments that need a lining quite different from the draping of the main fabric. If so, can we have an exemple . Thank you again. 🙏

    • @kondosdrapinglibrary9070
      @kondosdrapinglibrary9070  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching my video. My ultimate goal in draping is to create a basic pattern. You will then choose the material for your design. Of course the pattern will need to be adjusted afterwards to suit the material. Also, for designs that use jersey material, it is more efficient to use the same stretchy material for the draping. However, once you have mastered the draping technique, you will be able to adapt the volume and silhouette to the various materials during the process.
      The technique and feeling are developed through repetitive practice.

    Hello, I really enjoyed this video. But I still do not understand why we must add a mark 0.7 cm below the crotch line. And why don't we use the crotch line in the front?

    • @kondosdrapinglibrary9070
      @kondosdrapinglibrary9070  8 месяцев назад

      The angles of the front and rear inner seams are different. The front trouser seam is closer to a straight line and the rear trouser seam is closer to a bias. The back under the hip is very three-dimensional, so if the seams are stretched, the fabric follows the shape of the hip. It is necessary to adjust the length of the front and rear seams in order to stretch the seams.

I am thinking that in order to ilustrate it properly, I would need to send you some photoes or a short video. If you would want to help me, please suggest a way I can send them to you.
