For your sake, I want you to get to Canada. For my sake, I need your weekly video to feel peace and happiness...your hikes have always provided that to me and I am extremely grateful. Enjoy the closing miles!
You met Perk on the AT, you hiked with him on the PCT and now you are finishing the CDTwith him! That's a bond you two will always share and i think it's pretty cool! Soon you'll be able to put that bracelet on marking the coordinates for the terminus of the CDT. Way to go, Dixie!
Is it just me or does Dixie seem a bit more giddy and goofy, lol? Must be the anxious anticipation of reaching Canada, I guess. I got to thinking of Aaron, who has truly been an unsung hero. Shout-out to his editing skills, his sense of adventure and seemingly happy contentedness to remain in the background. I'm sure it hasn't been easy, but I know I appreciate your skills every time I watch Dixie's videos. We know you're there, Aaron! And...I actually hope that maybe you've been putting your own videos together about your experiences on the CDT to share with everyone??? I know the weather has taken a turn and wish all of you safe passage to Canada!!
Dixie, I just want to thank you for your plantar fasciitis and feet care videos. I got diagnosed with pf and sesamoiditis and just had my first hike post-diagnosis. When my feet started to really hurt on trail, I remembered seeing you icing your feet in cold streams and found myself a nice creek to ice my feet in. It did the trick better than any ice pack, and i was able to keep hiking. So thank you, Dixie! Enjoy the rest of Montana!
So awesome to see the section you were hiking when I met you through you eyes! :) PS I was the black F150, with my brother in the passenger seat, who stopped to check if you needed water before you got to the hot springs.
Good to see you & Perk together again. I know you are each hiking your own hike, but it's a blessing to share the company of good friends. Best wishes for the rest of your trip.
Watching Dixie hiking the beautiful US wilderness has become part of summer for me. It's really odd to think this is the last long trail. Good luck with the weather to Canada. We'll all miss your videos. Guess there aren't any East-West trails in the US?
There is your extra 4 months of summer, by going down under! I have done the Milford Trek in NZ as a freedom walker (we carried our own stuff and cooked our own meals but still stayed in very basic huts.) Lots of rain, but I loved New Zealand - a lot like Northern California in some spots, but with more rain in others.
There is an East-West trail: North Country Scenic Trail. Eastern New York to central North Dakota. Passes through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota. It's the longest trail in the US.
The Pacific Northwest Trail is east - west trail. 1200 miles from Montana, thru Idaho and Washington, to the Pacific. Be prepared to spend a lot of money and to get extremely wet on the Te Araroa Dixie, lol. Oh yeah, that is a nice new floppy hat but it is NOT a Gilligan hat..Youngsters, geez!
OK, so 4600 miles on the North Country Scenic, then build your own route from Lake Sakakawea to Chief Mountain (570 miles as the crow flies), then 1200 mile on the Pacific NW - probably 6600+ miles - and several parts don't exist... I cannot see how that could be thru hiked until global warming gets rid of winter snow, but it would be an epic year's hiking... Good luck finishing your well deserved triple crown first
I'm from Alabama and last year, I moved to Montana. I can't tell you how much you have inspired me to follow my dreams. Good luck on the rest of your journey!
Hey Dixie!!! Wanted to let you know that every Wednesday my family and I gather around the tv and watch your video. It’s now a tradition in our house . Thank you so much for bringing so much joy to us!!!!
It's SOoo GOOD..., to see You once again with that Ol' Rascal 'PERK'!! I think IT, ONLY *Fitting & Proper* that You FINISH Your *TRIPLE~CROWN*.... 'TOGETHER'! I am So Grateful, that You 'carried' each of us (your Many Viewers) along with You.... You (we) have Traveled Far..., since Amicalola Falls. Godspeed. 'Be Safe, Out THERE'!! ; )
For any adventurous person who happens to read this, Caltopo is great for planning hikes. Multiple map sources, ability to estimate distances and elevation gain, and many more features. Much better than paper maps for planning (I print up my final map set off Caltopo to have a paper map while out on the trail).
When I first watched this two years ago, I was amazed at how tough you are. Now, two years later and you are in France!! I am still amazed that you hiked out the same day you had surgery on your toes! t]I think you are love or what? You are laughing a lot! You are always happier when you are hiking with others, I notice! Aaron has done such a great job editing! Thanks for these wonderful videos. You voice also has many more tones and variety than before. I think you are really getting well. You must have been in a lot of pain before.
Hey Dixie, you are the most courageous outdoor gal I know, but have never had the fortune of meeting in person. I truly have to tell you I have had a wonderful time staying up with your hike episodes since the beginning of the PCT to the close to the end of the CDT . I will miss your adventures, and want to thank you so much for sharing these with us Patreon supporters to RUclips contributers. I will be staying tuned til you, Perc and Aaron make that final crossing..God speed...
Ma and me sit on the couch every Wednesday evening and watch Dixie adventures. We lament that it will be over soon. Gonna miss it. Thanks for taking us along!,
I have been backpacking since the 70's. Started on the CDT as my first thru hike. I hiked the trailhead to the Toltec RR in Colorado and plan to resume the hike from there in the summer (19). I have to say that 99% of all the hikers I have met have this insane obsession with the number of miles they want to hike each day. I can't figure out what that is all about.......why is it so difficult to accept the miles the trail is going to give you everyday? There is nothing a hiker can do to change that. If I were to use daily mileage to justify my motivation - I really think I'd just as well stay at home and watch these videos. At the 11 mile mark, from the trailhead, there is a very large arrow on the path that I put there so hikers don't miss a turn on the trail. Well, I missed it......lost.......2 days without water......found by the last 2 hikers of the season.......I recall how rough it was even as I write this. Just because you know there is a water cache ahead doesn't mean you can carry any less water!
Everybody has different reasons why they hike. As the motto goes "hike your own hike". In other words, live and let live. Why worry about what others are doing?
I’m having brain surgery in 2 weeks and I’m trying to be ready to do the PCT in April. When I see your fitness and tone quality of your legs in shorts, it spurs me on. I want my legs back! Thank you Dixie. You inspire me. 🌿😊
Hey Dixie.... Love ur videos.... You still have some amazing U.S. national scenic trails to conquer ya know ... Look at the IAT: National Scenic Ice Age Trail... It follows over a thousand foot miles following where the glaciers went thru Wisconsin. There are deep woods, canyons, cliffs, a Great Lake (Michigan and if u do Pictured Rocks National Trail even Great Lake Superior not too far away... Breathtaking!)... Also water falls, prairies, sand dunes, the beginning of the Niagara falls escarpment, as well as cougar, wolves, bear, and of course cheesecurds and beer! Too much fun to miss out on! And... if ur really lucky u may even see a yooper squatch come down from the U.P. of Michigan (Yooper land). You'll know them cuz they stink like an outhouse and have cheese and beer in tow. I dare ya to brave the rough terrain and wildlife, and soak in some amazing views. Keep on a hikin' 👣😁👣
You should make "winter relief" videos with hikes we can follow along on a treadmill. I definitely will be watching some of your videos at the gym this winter...
I have enjoyed seeing thru your eyes. I know many of us appreciate the respectful nature of your narrations and your wonderfully positive outlook, even when things got tough. What will we do when you come off trail? Guess we'll have to go for a hike. Bless you, Dixie and thanks for being such an inspiration!
Dear home made, Map's and no guthook. And, can't see ahead, it's very tuff when you are not knowing the what and how. 32.5 years ago that how it was for me. And having some one who was committed not only to the trail but the friendship, like your buddy Perk, is beyond estimate !! May you both be blessed in your travels and look forward to the stepping over as we called it. Every border was a stepping over.there are other forms of stepping over....and after this trip you'll have one of another sort. Hope you'll share that with us too.peace ✌️
i`ve never been to Montana and i`ve only seen a few pictures of what its like up there. i lost my younger brother on Feb 14`th to an illness. he was raised up there with his dads family, now i finally get to see what he got to see everyday up in the wooded parts of that state. thank you
I’ve never er said so before, but your photography skills are awesome. You really have a good eye for that special pic or video. Love the closeups and slow mo stuff very much.
I’m excited to see your northern Montana portion. I gave a hiker a ride in GNP who only had a day and a half left for the entire CDT and he was visiting from the Czech Republic!
Can’t believe, I’ve just watched 24 Episodes in three days. Amazing how you stepped up the editing game since the AT. I might try the pct next year, if they let me into the US. Greetings from Berlin!
I've been watching your videos all the way through your triple crown and they were were what got me amped and motivated to go do my own European thru hike this year. I'm hoping this won't be your last thru hike, your videos are something I look forward to every week, and even when I was on the trail I looked forward to catching up on them on my town days. If you come to New Zealand and hike the Te Araroa trail next, us Kiwis would love to show you some Kiwi trail magic :)
Holy crapamoly! I was literally about to comment on your last video to say how much I'm in absolute dire need of an update from you when low and behold the update came! Do us all a favor won't you? Can you hike slower so that your journey is prolonged? I'm going to really miss your adventures.
Like most followers I will be sad when you complete and the Wednesday updates come to an end. It's been a great summer and the photography has been outstanding; and by the way you have to finish with Perk, it's a moral imperative.
I just really admire how adventurous and brave you are as a woman! Nothing scares you off not even hiking in bear county, many times alone. I’m a big scaredy-cat myself yet I hope to someday go out there and hike just like you do. You are AWESOME !!!
Its good to know that while many of us who are at work dreaming about doing an adventure like yours there are many like you who are living it. You are a great story teller with words and pictures.
Dixie, so glad your toes are almost healed! I have driven highway 93 a couple of times and just love the area. Thanks for sharing this adventure. I felt melancholy as you discussed the termination of this adventure. It must be bittersweet. Are you able to feel the change in the air? Sometimes in the mountains the impending change of seasons seems like something you can touch.
Oh my goodness! !!!! Yall are soooooooo close. ... maybe you're even they're. .... that's crazy my foot is hurting just thinking about jumping for yall lol.... I hope you have the most awesome time! I'm so proud of all of you, everyone was so hardcore! !!
Almost there almost there :) I have truly enjoyed watching your videos in the last few months and hope you gonna keep on doing other thru-hikes. It's all about the journey not the destination :)
its 10/3/2018 I noticed today a snow storm in northern montana and southern Canada thought about you and hoped your ok and got somewhere safe during storm.
Got a report from the oil sands that it was a 20 cm nothing too bad. We have someone else going up this week I think, but she'll be done before it gets bad.
I'M SO GLAD THAT YOUR TOES ARE DOING BETTER & LOOKING PRETTY AGAIN! CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR NEW SHOES! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! AWESOME VIDEO AS ALWAYS!
It is so great watching your journey. My partner and I have started planning our hike. We want to start with the AT. We may start with a section hike first. Only because we can't take that much time off work right now. Plus we have some physical issues to straighten out. My knee just swelled up on me yesterday and I actually missed work today. But this has become a goal for us both. I have back watched almost all your videos. Thanks again. Take care.
Do not despair ! When you finish this triple crown you can then do them all again going in the reverse direction and you will be seeing all new views. I know this is weeks old but I am glad you are with your friend Perk again. Blessings and Peace.
Looking good. Hope things are going well for you all. Look a little tired. Can't imagine hiking a hundred miles much less over 6 THOUSAND miles over 3 years. Just amazed. I'm 57 with a heart condition that can only do day hikes. Thanks for your videos to places I'll never get to.
When you said you had about 400 miles, a little math in my head added up to about +/- 20 days or 2-3 episodes left. Excited for you to finish but a bit sad that it is coming to a close. I look forward every Wednesday to your videos. Good to see Perk again. Had to watch Darwin’s 21 episode: end of PTC again.
If you go to New Zealand or Australia you can have more Summer! You mentioned a few videos ago you might like to hike in New Zealand. Maybe after you complete your fire closures next summer you could head over during our winter and go on a hike during New Zealand's summer! I am going to miss your videos so much! I look forward to them every Wednesday!
All of us have really enjoyed your videos. Perhaps, you would consider hiking other long trails like the Ice Age Trail, or the Florida Trail, or ..... The Discover America Trail (coast to coast).
God I so badly want to get out there and hike the Appalachian trail or any trail but I’m stuck in college 😭 I love watching your videos every week Dixie!!!
Come on up to Canada, the trans canada trail is 15,000 miles, I guess the prarie stretch can be a bit dull. Seriously though, the Superor Coastal Trail is the perfect short trail, about 30 miles I think but at least 2 days because of it's condition., and beautiful.
Oh yeah!!! I can't wait till she gets her 3rd bracelet☺
I guess Im quite off topic but do anyone know a good place to watch newly released movies online ?
@Bode Mayson i watch on Flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Bryant Milan Yea, been watching on flixzone for since march myself =)
@Bryant Milan thank you, I went there and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it!!
@Bode Mayson Happy to help :D
Aw man, we are gonna miss the crap outa you when you're done, we've come to know you and to us you're our good friend and we love ya 😦😥👍✌🇺🇸🌞🌻🌾🍄
bc Florida trails Awww! I’ll be back 😉
I know! Darwin finished and now Dixie's about to.
You got an answer you lucky devil. 😃
comin to a close?! Nooooo!!! You can't stop! Just keep walking!. Alaska! It's not that much further. Just keep, walking and making videos!
WOAHHH..heck yes, the Denali hike next summer, Dixie??
SHe might make it to Calgary before big snows set in for the winter. Sometimes the first blizzard doesn't hit til December.
Dixie, I just want to thank you for your plantar fasciitis and feet care videos. I got diagnosed with pf and sesamoiditis and just had my first hike post-diagnosis. As the Magpie Flies Yesss! Thank you ❤️
Where is Aaron?
Look at you! New hat, new kicks- you are a hiking fashionista!
In this episode: Dixie mounts a broom; Perk gets inappropriately mounted; and Dixie and Perk mount an expedition to a lookout.
Ha ha ha ! All that did happen. I look for your wrap ups. I find them very funny (in my mind I make up my own).
Read in spot on Clarksonian arrogance.
Technically it was a mop:)
could you just keep on walking and making videos? It makes Wed very nice
I mean I enjoy your videos and worry about your safety but I don’t get some of the followers get all “gaga”
Good to see you & Perk together again. I know you are each hiking your own hike, but it's a blessing to share the company of good friends.
Best wishes for the rest of your trip.
The crown is yours. (AT-PCT-CDT) You are awesome... 👍🏕
That would be a small club. 😎
You've ' perked' up for sure . But 400 or less to go..no o o o. I'm gonna miss this. :-(
Watching Dixie hiking the beautiful US wilderness has become part of summer for me. It's really odd to think this is the last long trail. Good luck with the weather to Canada. We'll all miss your videos. Guess there aren't any East-West trails in the US?
lardo666 There are, but I’m gonna do an international trail. I think the Te Araroa! It’s not over yet 😉

I'm so happy to see perk again! Thank you for giving all of us on here a taste of your awesome adventuring!
Hey Dixie!!! Wanted to let you know that every Wednesday my family and I gather around the tv and watch your video. It’s now a tradition in our house . Thank you so much for bringing so much joy to us!!!!
I love that she always meets up with Perk during the last month to canada! Thats awesome, and Aarons beard growth is amazing!
Perk! missed you

No problem finishing the CDT, you can start the PCT in a few months. We will be watching for that next. Thanks, Rocky
She has already hiked the PCT.
For any adventurous person who happens to read this, Caltopo is great for planning hikes. Multiple map sources, ability to estimate distances and elevation gain, and many more features. You have the best videos, Dixie. Thanks for sharing all 3 journeys!
I’m so excited for you. This has been like watching a family member accomplish this. Thank so much for all you do to capture this adventure
I so much look forward to your videos every wed.It makes my mundane work week suck less.
Great to see you and Perk getting closer to Canada together. You inspire, Dixie ... Groeten from Belgium.
I like it that Perk has the insight to bring Whisky or Wine for those end of day treats and meals. Good man.
I’m having brain surgery in 2 weeks and I’m trying to be ready to do the PCT in April. When I see your fitness and tone quality of your legs in shorts, it spurs me on. I want my legs back! Thank you Dixie. You inspire me. 🌿😊
Happy to see you catched up with Perk again... so you can cross into Canada together. I'm gonna miss your videos. Thanks for taking us along.

Just reading the comments and seeing your impact on those that follow your hikes. Shared joy...that, Jessica, is your super power.
Dear home made,
Map's and no guthook. And, can't see ahead, it's very tuff when you are not knowing the what and how.
32.5 years ago that how it was for me. And having some one who was committed not only to the trail but the friendship, like your buddy Perk, is beyond estimate !!

“He tore out like a turkey in corn!” 😆🤣😁 I love the weekly videos and how you crack my husband up each time you say “night hike”.
seeing you hike is so cool but my favorite parts of the vids are always the small clips of you guys just having fun on trail haha
I've been watching your videos all the way through your triple crown and they were were what got me amped and motivated to go do my own European thru hike this year. I'm hoping this won't be your last thru hike, your videos are something I look forward to every week, and even when I was on the trail I looked forward to catching up on them on my town days. Thanks for another great video ! That little fellow with all those quills was sort of cute the way he walked !!!
Gonna miss these CDT vlogs! hope you’re doing well Dixie! your videos are the best! 😘
Dixie you are killing the miles! What are you planning next, I will need a trail fix.
Its good to know that while many of us who are at work dreaming about doing an adventure like yours there are many like you who are living it. You are a great story teller with words and pictures.
Excellent adventure! Thank you for the tips and gear reviews. Most of all getting out there and showing others that adventuring is wonderful!
When you finish you know what comes next right???? SOBO each trail.
So, wonderful. I loved hearing how you want to hurry but you don't want it to end. I really understand your emotions there. Thanks for sharing.
Dixie that metal bridge is a classic drive over cattle guard.. for ATVs.
I'm going to miss these videos, but excited for you as well!
Love these updates. Here's hoping you beat the snows to Canada. Winter can sure come early to Glacier NP.
So glad to see Perk back! I love that he wears a neck tie all the time!!
Dixie, so glad your toes are almost healed! I have driven highway 93 a couple of times and just love the area. Thanks for sharing this adventure. Glad to hear and see that your toes are healing well. Thanks again for a great video. Porcupine quills make pretty good fishing floats.
Think of the fun and anticipation you'll have planning your next hike.
Oh my goodness! !!!! Yall are soooooooo close. ... maybe you're even they're. .... that's crazy my foot is hurting just thinking about jumping for yall lol.... I hope you have the most awesome time! I'm so proud of all of you, everyone was so hardcore! !!

We don't want it to end. Thanks for another great video.
That metal fence crossing is probably for ATV's to cross the fence and still stop the cows.
its 10/3/2018 I noticed today a snow storm in northern montana and southern Canada thought about you and hoped your ok and got somewhere safe during storm.
Got a report from the oil sands that it was a 20 cm nothing too bad. We have someone else going up this week I think, but she'll be done before it gets bad.
She's already finished : ) These videos are delayed.
She posted that she finished up on Thursday the 4th.
So glad to see Perk again too.
You are a nonstop inspiration!
I'M SO GLAD THAT YOUR TOES ARE DOING BETTER & LOOKING PRETTY AGAIN! CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR NEW SHOES! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! AWESOME VIDEO AS ALWAYS!
It's amazing they healed up under the strain she puts them through.
It is so great watching your journey. My partner and I have started planning our hike. We want to start with the AT. We may start with a section hike first. Only because we can't take that much time off work right now. Plus we have some physical issues to straighten out. My knee just swelled up on me yesterday and I actually missed work today. I just love your videos! So glad your feet got the care they needed and are (were, lol, I know this was months ago) healing well!
Someday you might want to return to MT and hike the Pintlers, one of the prettiest mountain ranges on the CDT. Fire closures suck!
Elkhorn Hot Springs! I know it well. A little rustic but we love to escape there.
Glad Perk is back. Congrats on hitting your last state. Dixie, my pretty, you do a great imitation of the wicked witch
Great job completing the triple crown! Hope to see more hiking from you! International hikes would be beautiful!! 🌎🤷♀️
Can’t believe how close y’all are!!
Do not despair ! When you finish this triple crown you can then do them all again going in the reverse direction and you will be seeing all new views. I know this is weeks old but I am glad you are with your friend Perk again. Blessings and Peace.
So wonderful tagging along with. Can almost see Canada but thinking gee, once we get there can we start over? :)
Horrors! A paper map??!! LOL..you crack me up!
"A Thru Hiker Trap"...hahaha! I will miss your videos.
That ending shot of the moon was beautiful!
Perk me up baby!!! Nice to see you buddy
Oh my I love that trail!!!! So cozy, I wish I could go there. I live in New England and sadly we don’t have trail as beautiful and scenic like that ☹️
If you go to New Zealand or Australia you can have more Summer! You mentioned a few videos ago you might like to hike in New Zealand. Maybe after you complete your fire closures next summer you could head over during our winter and go on a hike during New Zealand's summer! I am going to miss your videos so much! I look forward to them every Wednesday!
Hope you brought your snow boots... we've already had snow!
happy about your toes Dixie, and Perk and his tie are styles!!! be safe you all
Dixie, RUclips says you've posted 3 more vids recently but with all your vids they can't be found. Wish I could keep following you!!
Go get Canada Dixie, such a strong person you are. Can't wait for next wed.
I live in Phoenix so I’ll pass on the extra 2 months of summer 😆
wally hikes Please!
I've been watching you since the PCT. I can't wait to see your next hike. You inspire me. "Cause the snow in Canada won't wait for a wimp".......
Come on up to Canada, the trans canada trail is 15,000 miles, I guess the prarie stretch can be a bit dull. Seriously though, the Superor Coastal Trail is the perfect short trail, about 30 miles I think but at least 2 days because of it's condition., and beautiful.
I loved watching your videos you've got a great attitude and a great life. Such an inspiration
I admire your positve attitude and sticktuitiveness. Somehow you always find a way:) You have inspired me to hike the AT.
