Mate I won't lie I wasn't massively sold on the looks of the Trident when it first released, but seeing yours in black and with a bit of work done has really changed my mind. The bike looks absolutely LUSH with even just what you've done so far. Brilliant.
Cheers mate! I’m not a big fan of the other colours but this one really works for me. Happy with it so far
Loving your Trident videos - had mine for a week, same colour and same extras as you apart from the mirrors. The Quickshifter is a lovely piece of kit, heated grips are good, comms for the Sat Nav and USB. I liked your idea of blacking out the white backing on the number plate, did that this morning and I'm looking at the bolts for the passenger peg removal now. Thanks and keep up the great work! A few more miles to go and I'll be run in...
Edit: I've also fitted the TEC levers today, great service from the boys & girls in the North. Two days to arrive, less than 30 cautious minutes to fit. Very good quality and big improvement to functionality!
Thank you. I tried to find the size for the mirror plugs everywhere. I am really glad you talked about the size and the fact that they are both clockwise!
I really like this bike. I can see why you bought it. I bet the engine is really tractable. The quick shifter is the only mod I would want. Along with the protective film for the dash. That's a great idea for a tenner.
Of all the bikes out there, keep coming back to this bike!! Love the looks triple engine ect thinking of trading in my tracer 700!!
Love these mods and agree about the Tec levers. I’m going to cover the back of my plate in black vinyl as well, looks much better!
Got my Speedo angels tft screen cover and a tank protector too. Excellent products clear instructions ,comes with all the cloths squeegy blade etc . went on easy and the tank one is almost invisible so doesn't spoil the look of the tank. thanks for the recommendation.
Had my trident for14 mos now. Running great, no complaints. I like the idea of coating the back of the license plate.
Looks great, very reasonable mods that make a big difference looking forward to seeing what sort of exhaust options come out
Thanks for the mention on the dash protector AND the coupon code! I was pretty worried about finding a dash protector and I couldn't find one in the states. Just order a couple today. Great video, THANK YOU!
Looking forward to seeing maintenance costs and reliability over time. Never really been into Triumphs, but, this and the Tiger 660 are very appealing prospects (read: seems like Triumph has done their marketing homework).
Great video! Your product descriptions are very informative. If I may make one suggestion? Back in my motocross days when riding in adverse weather conditions. I would wrap the brake/clutch levers with medium/heavy grit skateboard tape. Not only will this enhance riding ability, It’ll also cover up those cheesy logos. Thanks, and happy riding!!
Thanks for the info MotoBob and I think the mirrors will have to be a must buy. I bought the Trident with the red radiator guards which I couldn't live with so I painted them a Matt black along with the 2 x exhaust covers and I am now so happy with the look of the bike. I would add a photo to this comment but I do not know how.
Tasteful mods as always! Bike is looking great! I did black vinyl behind my plates too, thanks to your old street twin video.
Thanks Mark! And glad that tip helped - it’s the little things that add up to the whole
Spot on mate ! Writing these down (figure of speech :p) you've got a great thing going on with this channel, very good stuff. God bless mate!
Thanks mate! Appreciate the support! 👍🤘
Those break levers were a "must". Looks sharp.
You nailed the mods, I'm with you on all of them. Also that matte black looks so good.
It would be nice if the my triumph app used the stock Google maps to get some of the built in functionality. It's only software, so it's just an upgrade away if triumph ever want to make it happen.
Still waiting for mine to arrive in Greece. Silver paint scheme. Thanks for the Monimoto idea. I’ve bought one and thought it wouldn’t fit under there. Great video as always.
Hey, thanks I'm in the US and thinking of buying the Triton, keep the videos coming.
Thanks again.
Found the heated grips to be excellent. Much cleaner look than having Oxford grips and the control unit, they get pretty hot I only been able to use it on lowest setting . Like how it comes up on dash too
Thanks for this video. Very good! New subscriber here.
I ordered one of these almost as soon as they began taking orders. Sadly, thanks to the pandemic, I now have no idea when I can take my training and tests. As a result, I’ve cancelled it. It’s senseless having it sat there for months when I can’t ride it. But I will certainly revisit once I can get some test dates later this year.
I went for the same factory accessories as you, except the quick shifter. I was thinking of adding that afterwards. I also added the flyscreen, as it tidies up the back of the clock.
Bike's looking 👌 - fingers crossed for some decent weather soon so you can get some good rides in!
Mirror protector:✔️, I'm using round bar-end mirrors, just got the seat uprated with better foam underpinning & neat lining/sewing.
Definitely great run-thru, ta Bob🤙😊👍
Any pictures of it? Where did you get it done?
@@paulshackleton3594 ta 4 asking! if i can get round to it, i'll be putting it on to my insta account chrisbike77.
Just subbed. Ordered tft screen cover and a tank protector as the triumph one is big thick and expensive . Thanks for the link. Those blanking plugs are bit pricey.
Put a deposit on a trident this morning. Really exited to go ride it. Been looking for one for nearly a year now. These mods are all sounding pretty cool. I come from cruisers where even the standard equipment here would be extra or unavailable. I might have to check out that bluetooth connectivity option and quick shifter
Great video! Just wondered how easy the tec levers were to install for the brake and clutch? I’ve got a pair ready to go on but worried about making a hash of it....
Such a nice bike. One of few that look good at any angle.
Keep doing matey. You make me want to go out and get one! Although I've just bought a ktm 790 adventure R
Would love to hear a comparison with your street twin as I’m split as to which I prefer ?
Great videos 👍
Nice review, nice subtle changes.
I love to get away from all tech when I get on my bike - too many distractions. All the shit that is in my car, I definitely don’t want on a bike. I just want to ride - definitely not answer phones or listen to music. Isn’t that why you have good sounding pipes
I ordered mine with a non-refunable $750 deposit here in 'Merica. It will arrive at the end of April. After break in I am going to get rid of those pillon pegs as you did Mr. Moto Robert. Looks so much cleaner. I ordered Sapphire Black and I am going to the dealer tomorrow to see one in that color that they are delivering this weekend. Bloody Hell !!! I will put some vinyl tape under the seat to help keep the chit off of the underside. Should be a fun, little coffee house runner for me.
Thank you for using my full title, good sir!
Thanks for your very helpful video. I have ordered the same bike and color, but without the bluetooth option. What's your thought on bluetooth GPS vs phone with quad lock ?
Great video! Do you use your quick shifter all of the time? Is it a worth while upgrade?
mine is on a slow boat coming across the pond.. can't wait.
I think you’ve chosen the best mods. They are definitely what I would have chosen.
Amazing video really hope i can get one of these for myself (with similar mods tbh). Now i know we have seen this bike before and there are pictures everywhere but i think i would be a bit better if we could see something like before and after the mods in the video(just a quick photo etc). Still, great content.
Love this bike, and your mods. Here in AUS the Trident is only offered as a restricted bike - any thoughts on whether that would be a deal-breaker for a more experienced rider?
just put a deposit on same bike with same options as a coincidence :) looks a great buy and with 10k service intervals etc nice nice find with the dash protector, ordering one up ! great tip
Practically my ideal mods to perfection!
No, EXACTLY the mods I hope to take!
Enhorabuena por este fantastico video, excelente. Podrias decirme cual es el link de compra de esos espejos?? o si le sirven cualquiera de la street triple?,
Muchas gracias
Hi Bob.
I see that you have started the video with a good cleaning.
In addition to the Matt finish, do you use any other product for the prewash that does not damage the paint of the tank?
I just bought mine and I have doubts about what product I should buy to wash it.
When you get a chance check out some tail bags if you can find some that might fit, might have to wait for the aftermarket though
Tbh I just use a backpack cos I need to carry a tripod most of the time. I don’t think I’ll ever fit a tail pack
Love your channel and reviews. Was just curious as to what paddock stand you are using? Like the industrial clean look of it. Also very keen to see a riding review of the new Speed Triple in due course.
It’s by biketec - I just found it on Amazon
Thanks BOB! Was waiting for this video :)
My pleasure mate!
I got the official rubber tank guard from the dealer and ordered the radiator guard from evotech. Thinking about ordering rear crash bar from hepco & becko to replace the pillion foot rest (wondering if they can be used for saddle bags or not).
Nice mods .. great looking bike, has a bit of everything, retro to modern .. on my list to buy 👊
I did not see the links to your modifications. Did you list them? Great review.
Just ordered a Trident in the same colour & will be shamelessly copying a lot of your mods here, so thanks a lot :-)
This is an awesome and super helpful Video... Thanks Rob... Definetly getting some of these mods on my bike... Which version of the Tec Brake and clutch lever did you get... because there isn't one specifically for the Trident? Is it this one... 'TEC CNC Alloy Adjustable Front Brake & Clutch Long Lever Set - Water-cooled Models'
Hello,
Great mods ans thank you for the links!
Which sizes are the mirror protections (I have the same models)?
Those Triumph bar-end mirrors are brilliant - got them on my Street Triple. Much bigger/better view than the third party ones.
Hey do you happen to know which mirrors are these?
@@nassosa I think they were the Street Twin bar end mirrors. Excellent.
Another option for the mirror holes is ram mount balls, they don't look as clean, but give you a LOT of funtionality
Bike looks awesome. Some food for thought with the mods. It’s just released here in New Zealand this week. What top speeds are you getting if you don’t mind me asking?? I ride a lot with Harleys and bigger engines. Will the bike be struggling to sit around the 140 kmh for longish periods??
Great and safe riding 👍. Look forward to buying one once launched in India
me too
This Triumph looks great , so much more like the original Steet Triple. Only thing is the single headlight ,is there a conversion kit to twin round headlights. 😎👍
Nothing so far but you never know. Might just be easier to buy the street triple tho?
Man ,been waiting for the trident videos
❤️ From India
@sam not rockwell poor country seriously , people over here are much rich than u atleast and could buy your whole family😅😂
@sam not rockwell Have you been to our country ma man??
Hey, I’ve been reading some negative reviews on the connectivity module - things like it won’t always connect and has problems with newer phones. Have you had any problems with it?
Love the bike, I have a T100 Matte Black and use the same muc-off product, it is the only solution and really does a good job. Just a question what intercom would you recommend for rider and pillion?
Hello Bob, I can't find the video when you ever mentionned abour those end bar mirrors ? Are those the same of the street tripple ?
Great update, liked the speedo and mirror protection suggestion. Any chance you can add link where you got your paddock stand?
www.amazon.co.uk/PDSR016-Biketek-Aluminium-Paddock-Stand/dp/B005X6VOVK
In Oz we get the power restricted version of the Trident. Think you refer to it as A2 in UK. I'm curious to see how this affects sales or not, in regards to registration red tape etc. Not sure if this topic has been addressed as yet and that this segment of bike is great for anyone. Thanks 👍
Nice video and mods, fancying one myself but don't know if I fancy THE CB1000r Black edition instead, price of Triumph is excellent though.
It took me ages to find the blanking plugs for the 'old' mirror sockets but I did eventually. They're by Evermoto. M10 Blanking Plug. (I'm sure other manufacturers/distributor do them, but these are the ones I found if anyone else is struggling to find them.
Yo dude, bike looks great man! Any tips on removing the fork reflectors?
Even with nothing added, i think it's a great looking bike! Trying to think of a good reason why i shouldn't have one.
What are those bars hanging from the pillion grab handles? For panniers and stuff?
Definitely get the heal guards and gear, rear brake levers and exhaust heat shield powder coated.
I'll try to get round to it but I'd rather be out riding it when I've got a spare moment.
instablaster...
Late to the party but great vid. Remember where you got the bar end mirrors from? They really finish the look off!
A heated saddle option would be great. Do you think there would be one?
Hi, I’m having problems connecting a Sena headset to a trident - any chance of a walkthrough? I’m not sure which of the Sena options to pair with the bike. Hoping you can help :-)
Nice bike for sure, enjoy your vids a great deal, keep up the great work and thanks...
The bike looks great and your videos are fantastic.
Thanks mate! 👍
Love the bike, Thanks for promo code, ordered clock face Protectors.
🤟😎
What about the Spark line of exhaust for the Trident 660 ?. They look pretty good, especially in black.
What is the paddock stand you're using, and is it available in black??
Yoshimura AT2 full exhaust.
Just ordered mine in exactly the same color.
I'm getting bar end mirrors fitted & will definitely get the bungs you got.
Can yon please let me know exactly what they are called.
Cheers
Love triumphs and love this trident.
I’m very tempted to buying one of these. And I was going to go for the same colour scheme 😂. I’ve seen some negatives about the Bluetooth connectivity, might take a trip to the dealers and see if they can show it to me working.
Bluetooth works fine for me if you follow the connection instructions properly. Had a few messages from other owners who had problems but tried my fix and it worked :) You have to pair from the bike to the phone and wait for the pairing message to pop up on your phone. Connecting from your phone to the bike in bluetooth settings seems to cause problems
@@motobob Thanks I’m still slightly skeptical but will definitely try your method if it doesn’t pair correctly. 👍
Nice touches mate. 👌🏼
Cool mods mate! Any ideas for a tail tidy / relocating the indicators and number plate to get rid of the hugger?
No idea - I think I’ll keep the hugger myself tho. I like the clean look around the tail light
Could you tell me where do you bought the accessory to elevate the motorbike before washing it ?
Aftermarket exhaust would be great when it comes out
Functionality mods are always the best. Especially when you ride all the time.
Would be interested to know more about your garage security please? The horizontal bar at the start looked interesting.
I’ll make a full vid soon but that’s the guardsman by Image4Security. Link in the description to that product with a discount code
Three things i would change, Proper rear mudguard ,Triumphs now throw crud everywhere instead of oil. Proper front mudguard {not long enough}. Plus get rid of the scaffolding for rear pegs {seen you done that}.
I’m sure pyramid plastics will make an extender for the front. The rear is as good as any other naked bike
The rear looks awesome, unique, not sure why anyone wants to change that ... to make the same like every bike? Not me.
Nice mods. Looking good.👍
Can you send a link to the film protectant on the TFT? I would like to purchase some.
Looking to get a trident, what's the cost of the bluetooth and usb connection ? I have also looked at the tank bag whats your opinion on that please?
Looks great MB, I have the same problem, with my F900R. Cant get the accessories due to it being a brand new model.
Maybe next year we will have more choice mate.
The joys of being a trendsetter right? Lol
Haha that’s true. Hoping someone makes an exhaust system soon but I think it’ll be a few months at best
What is the widest back tyre one is able to get away with on this 660. I was hoping to get mine to approximate the Ducati diavel. It would look sick if this was possible.
Looking good! Have you seen the Bennetts bike cleaner test? Never thought about doing that to the plate! I'm off to get my vinyl wrap right now!
I saw it but didn’t watch. Any good?
@@motobob surprising. Never thought washing up liquid was one of the BEST things for your bike! It's scary what some cleaners can do.
@@robbikebob Doesn't household washing up liquid contain salt for viscosity?
Yo, what after market exhaust have you put on it by now? Or which one would you choose?
Nice description of your add-ons so far Bob. The quickshifter and heated grips are in my view the most desirable of the higher priced extras which I'd definitely spec if I was buying a Trident. I find the Triumph heated grips perfectly adequate, they're the same as I have on the Speedmaster and on a Tiger 900 before that.
One thing that several people have mentioned which I find a bit odd - luggage. Clearly the Trident is not designed as a tourer or luggage carrier and even if fittings are available from Triumph or aftermarket, surely it would ruin the appearance of this great looking bike. Why would you buy a Trident if you need to carry a lot of stuff for touring or whatever? Similarly for pillions. There are far better bikes for these purposes from Triumph or other makes.
Honestly I don’t get it either. I’ve had so many comments saying “will it take a windscreen?” or top box or saddle bags. It’s just the worst choice of bike for that sort of thing! Tiger 850 Sport would be a much better bet if you’re trying to keep it fairly cheap but want to tour.
Can you see the outside temperature or the temperature of the engine ( oil ) ?
Damn, Waiting for the new exhaust , I wonder how would this new triple sound like.
Great video lovely bike I had my heel guards powder coated on my speed twin look 💯 better stay safe looking forward to more videos 🇬🇧👍
I'm sure it'll look better but I just want to ride it at the moment. I'll probably get round to it when I've got a couple of press bikes in the garage.
Where is a good place to get things powder coated?
i love this bike. best of 2021
factory mod accessories i was thinking of very good
I dont like so much that plate suport
Can we put it on default place?
Have you ever experienced transmission fault warning due to installation of quick shifter?
