Nov. 2023 I went on a carnivore diet to stop my daily acid reflux after my meals. The added bonus was my 15kg weight loss, plus no more heartburn since then. I also drink coffee with cream as a treat, l use it to keep my weight stable as I lost it too rapidly. When I want to loose more weight I drink warm water, green tea or black coffee instead. The bit of pleasure I get from a coffee treat does help against wanting anything sweet so if it works why not.
I think every carnivore owes it to themselves to spend at least some period of time as strict as they can just to see how much healing is possible. I've gotten off track in my health pursuit and would benefit from a strict reset. This is a timely reminder that if you're in a flare or a stall, there may still be levers to pull to help you get things moving in the right direction again. Thanks for the thoughtful video!
For coffee users...it can serve as a challenge within the diet. I agree with you. Treat it like you did with first starting carnivore. 1-week challenge, 1-month challenge, whatever. Some people may find they don't actually need coffee at all.
I haven't stopped drinking coffee, BUT for the first time in over 30 years I have stopped biting my nails and even had to pick up emery boards and a nail clipper! I'm just so much calmer and at ease since making the jump to carnivore five weeks ago.
Just went through the worst 5 days without coffee....realizing if something can affect me that bad to be without, it is bad for me. Period. I had issues with Magnesium....all my minerals went through a havoc reaction. Feels like I am over now from the elimination process. Thank god!
Never in my entire life, even before i went carnivore, have i ever convinced myself or anyone else that coffee is healthy in one way or another. I drink coffee as many others do. I drink too much in my opinion. I don't drink it because i think it's healthy because i know it's not. I drink it because im addicted to caffeine. And because i like the taste of coffee which doesnt help. I have quit drinking coffee many times. Often months at a time but for some reason i always get to that point where i try 1 cup and than im sold. There will come a day when i will stop drinking coffee completely. I just hope that day won't be in the next life.
If it isn't affecting your results then continue what you are doing, I drink one to two cups a day hasn't hindered my results, also only eat once to twice a day,I drink it black.
@@izuki1245 That's just it. It does affect my results. I know because i know what my results are when i quit drinking coffee. I sleep better, i feel better, i perform better. Though i don't drink 1 or 2 cups per day and black as well. The only way coffee can be enjoyed in my opinion. Caffeine has the nasty habit of making it's user think everything is alright. And it could be, but chances are your result will be better without it. But you won't know until you quit. I'm not saying you should of course. But don't fall into the trap that caffeine has laid out for you.
I've noticed you can gradually reduce the strength of coffee and it will still taste good. If you immediately cut back 50% of the grounds - it will taste weak. Gradually reduce it.
I stopped cold turkey after 10+ years drinking it daily. One day since this diet, I was just super shaky so I said no more and I'll see how I feel. Been 2 months since and energy levels are stable since. Haven't craved a cup since.
Yea...I love coffee so much that I started back up again 2 months ago - decaf only. It made me so happy, but my joints started hurting again (I have EDS and fibro) and I felt worse than I had in quite a while. Was it the coffee? The heavy cream? The full pot a day that I allowed myself to drink with the excuse that I have given literally everything else up? I realized it was a total addiction and I'm now 1 month "sober"...and feeling great again. Your videos are great an I am glad to see your channel growing!!
It probably was the coffee. Chaffee said he had the same thing happen to him with a black coffee I believe when he had one for the first time since being on carnivore. Thank you very much for your support.
I did decaf for awhile and then found out that it's one of the worst things you can put in your body because of the way they process it. Awful for you.
@@Jay-hs1vq Interesting!! I never had this problem with regular coffee...and the decaf of the same brand tasted oily or chemical-like to me, but I continued anyway. I'm finally recovering after a month or so - my energy felt depleted and my workouts are getting longer again. I'm off coffee for good!
Same here. I started getting worse after I re-introduced coffee. Along with what you have, I have 4 autoimmune diseases that I am hoping to reverse. One of them now is attacking my heart. So the coffee has to go.
@@tianasixkiller4771 It's rough to cut everything out! But the end goal is getting our health back. And for whatever reason, beef and butter is what works. I have faith it will heal you and your heart! Wishing you loads of health and happiness moving forward... you got this! 💪🥩🧈
Me too, i have decided to have it as a treat only for the next three months, maybe once a week...when i am socialising only, otherwise most of the time sadly no... I will see if it does help my sleep etc..
Been on carnivore 2.5 months, just now quitting coffee, and it’s been the hardest thing to quit, harder then smoking and sugar, was getting bad cramps, few days off coffee, zero cramps.
I found that bone broth kinda tastes a bit coffee-like and feels kinda like I'm drinking coffee. Haven't had cravings since quitting, which was surprisingly an abrupt quit. But the bone broth is nice.
I appreciate your honesty, "It's bad for you, I still do it and here is my justification for it". I'm old and drank coffee for 50 years, at times(years at a time) addictively. 11 months ago I tried carnivore as an elimination diet because of itchy rashes. My results on carnivore have been so astounding that I just kept going, including not drinking coffee. I don't rule out that I may use it medicinally at some time in the future but for now I feel better on carnivore than I have in decades. May be something to whether or not one becomes addicted.
@@dan-qe1tb It's probably just a coincidence that the rash went away when I stopped the carbs but I guess I won't go to the real doctor to tell them I had an itchy rash a year ago.
I'm having enormous success on carnivore and still consume coffee and cheese. Life and reality are a nuanced, infinitely complex, zillion shades of gray. Thus, people who talk in absolute terms tend to be disingenuous and naive.
Recently gave up coffee, well mostly. Drink decaf at work. A) anxiety went to 0 B) energy levels stabilised C) sleep became better and deeper D) started having dreams again. Oddly. For context was throwing back 6 to 10 coffees a day, mostly instant. Giving up is a lot like breaking carb addiction, but is much easier. A few days of headaches. Anyway, you do you and enjoy. Either way coffee certainly won’t kill you.
I needed to hear this. Coffee is the only thing I didn't completely eliminate and think its why my carnivore results have plateaued for the last 3 months. I have more than 1 cup a day too and think it's time to go lion just to see what it's like to be completely clean on the inside
I’m thinking about doing the same thing. Ingest nothing but 100% meat and water for a good long while. See what it’s like completely free of any external dietary influence. And coffee is a major influence on our internal state.
I gave up coffee because I didn't want to be dependent on caffeine anymore, and I also feel it logically shouldn't be part of a carnivore diet if you're doing that. I honestly don't miss it. Yeah it could "wake me up" when I needed it but then I'd be in this weird state where I was being kept awake but still felt absolutely exhausted. I'd feel terrible in the mornings and needed that coffee just to feel normal again. I was addicted to the added sugar as well (lattes were my go-to). And on top of all that, I'm certain it was either causing or at least agrivating some type of digestive issue because it would usually be the common denominator on days where my stomach would freak out after eating for "no reason". People still cling to coffee on carnivore because they're addicted to it, plain and simple. And yes like all addictions, it can feel pretty bad when you try to quit. But you'd think carnivores of all people would understand that already.
Thanks for your informative videos. So deeply researched and presented. Quickly becoming one of my fav carnivore influencers. You really have no idea how helpful you are, do you. Keep it up. A big fan. I have found coffee is negligible to my success on carnivore and am willing to have the small damage that is possibly being done. I have lost 45 lbs and my biggest concern is that I don’t lose any more. I have just gotten over a cold or Corona, not sure, but I was SHOCKED that I even got sick. 4 days. I thought us carnivores were bulletproof!
No worries at all. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Keep up the good work. Hahahha we are definitely more bullet proof than the average person. I bet you will very rarely get sick in the future.
Thanks that is why I stopped coffee on day two on carnivore. On day one I was so full of energy and lack of sleep that I dropped it. By far the most difficult thing to give up. But I am very much more calm less anxiety. 2 weeks have passed. Started my third week on carnivore. Over the years I have reduced to one cup a day but now zero wow. Some days are more difficult than others.
The positive outcomes from drinking coffee should outweigh the fact it comes from a seed. Drink your coffee and enjoy it - do we care about not having anything plant related, or do we care about living a healthful life? If it's the latter, coffee is not bad for you, period.
My grandmother drank coffee most of her life and lived 101 years. I’m tired of all the fear that everything is bad for us. I restarted drinking coffee after years of quitting because I enjoy it, I’ve given up enough already.
I’ve given up just about everything, including my decaf coffee. I don’t feel better, nor am I happier. I don’t think this works for everyone. I’m in my 5th month. Sometimes we have to have some happiness in this difficult life, or what;s the point. I suffer enough. The only reason I’m trying to stick with it is because I’m finally losing weight.
I take my coffee with butter, heavy cream, tallow, and LMNT electrolytes. The chocolate flavoring is a bit of a cheat, but at this point, my coffee is where I get a lot of my dietary fat intake. Between that and the migraines I get without it, coffee's not leaving my diet any time soon.
What chocolate flavoring are you using? I gave up on my decaf coffee 2 months ago because I needed my chocolate creamer. I don’t see any difference as to how I feel. I’m still eating two pieces of fruit, also, because I’m oxalate dumping.
@suew4609 LMNT has chocolate and chocolate Carmel flavored electrolyte packets. They are top-notch. It's also a great way to get your salt and electrolytes up in the morning. I know the idea of adding salt to coffee may sound strange, but it actually brings the acidity down.
My hubby and I enjoy the chocolate LMNT in coffee as well. Word of caution. Unless you are using a large cup for your coffee, only use a portion of the LMNT...not the whole packet.
I drank coffee for 10+ years daily. After starting this diet, I had 2 sips one morning and was SO shaky at the gym that I was worried. I felt fine, wasn't hyper, just shaking, it was impossible to hold my hand out steady. I decided no more coffee right then to see how it affected me. It's now been 2 months since & I feel great.
I've gained 20 lbs by adding heavy cream , sour cream and creamed cheese to my carnivore diet in just 2 months! I think it's time to quit coffee as I cannot drink it without at least 1/2tsp of cane sugar times 3 cups a day. First when I started carnivore, I just ate beef, butter, bacon and eggs and my PMR and Rh went away! I went off carnivore slightly for about 3 months. I then added dairy for more fat when I went back on and added coffee. I'm n a mess now. I have to start over.
---> *_A couple of things to think about:_* *_Organic Caffeine vs "Chemical" Caffeine. That's Caffeine from a cup of Coffee Vs. Caffeine from a Caffeine pill; the Caffeine is made/created 2 different ways._* *_And people react differently. If you get jittery from Coffee, try a Caffeine Pill instead. The Caffeine pills are usually 100mg Caffeine. In a Cup of Coffee(that's the measuring unit "Cup", think "Grandma Cup") it's usually 70mg Caffeine, a Mug is about 100mg. In 1.5liters or 1/3 Gallon of cola/diet cola is 160mg of Caffeine. So now you can see the amount in some different beverages._* *_Also, many Caffeine pills are slow release, so you have a steady release of Caffeine over the day._* *_I feel "strange" when I drink Coffee, but I feel "great" the entire day when I take 1-2 100mg Caffeine Pills in the morning; which I take 1-1,5h after waking up._* *_Also, I am CLEARLY more allergic in the spring if I drink Coffee Vs. if I take Caffeine Pills instead; an allergy reduction by 90% I'd wager._* *_Also, there's benefits to adding a small pinch of Salt(some Maldon triangles) to your morning Coffee. Not only will this bring forth a new flavour profile; it will easy your stomach if the acidity is too much for you. And a Carnivore needs more Salt than others anyhow._* *_Does Caffeine help your bowel movements? Well, yes, but there are other factors. It's more the warm liquid that starts a bowel movement, try just drinking a cup of Hot Water in the morning and see for yourself._* *_Now, I do not know if mixing Organic Caffeine and "Chemical" Caffeine has any benefits or downsides. It does seem that when adding Caffeine to other components for increased effect; it's the "Chemical" or In-Organic Caffeine that works best?_*
Thank you. I would estimate that the optimal average consumption of a varying amount of coffee at different times of the day will be once a month. If you are interested, why I came to this conclusion, then read on. All humans are addicted. Addicted to alcohol, nicotine, hard drugs, caffein, habits, social acceptance, being loved, status, sense of life, shelter, sex, physical contact, raising children, curiosity, sugar/carbs, protein, fat, oxygen, food, … The addiction serves as a trigger which forces us into beneficial behaviors. Those behaviors are however only beneficial in an environment which is deprived. I.e. an environment where there is too little of “everything”. In modern societies there is usually an excess of “everything”. Note: Some people might argue that an addiction is only for things that harm us. I use the term addiction as a way to describe a trigger for a specific behavior. If we want to live a healthy life in our environment of excessive supply and freedom of choice, we have to artificially create the limits for ourselves. The first difficulty is to find out what is the optimal supply of all these things and feelings for our body & soul. The second difficulty is to then give our body and soul exactly the correct amount of those things and feelings. Note: A “perfect” supply is actually not perfect. Our body and soul needs challenges. We therefore need to “every once in a while” challenge our body and soul to make it stronger. Within reasonable limits, the “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” paradigm can be applied, when applied wisely. Wisely means to randomly apply restrictions, so that our body and soul cannot always predict what it will get. As you can see, the caffeine question is getting quite complicated… Considering all the above, I would estimate that the optimal average consumption of a varying amount of coffee at different times of the day will be once a month. For people who, as I am, are interested in finding and implementing the perfect conditions for our body and soul, such analysis, research and discussion is essential.
If you're not 100% carnivore try adding coconut milk to your coffee. No carbs no sugar and personally I can't tell the difference between that and dairy.
Correction, Max. REM sleep is not deep sleep. You are confusing it with delta wave sleep. In REM, we are dreaming, more highly active overall, as evidenced by eye movement. Both are necessary, for sure.
I developed anxiety. I blamed it on several other issues but at the end of the day, it was the coffee. I had to stop drinking regular coffee; I switched to decaf.
I hated coffee and never drank it until I was 34 years old, then I drank it for 5 years. My doctor told me to drink a cup of coffee and 4 aspirin due to swelling I was getting in my skull from a head injury (coffee reduces blood flow to the brain by 52%). Well, I got addicted and started drinking it all day just like the guys at work. I couldn’t sleep, it changed my personality to make me angry especially at the end of the day, and I’d have hot flashes where I’d sweat through my entire mattress. It was insane. I quit drinking it and have never had even one hot flash since. I started studying it, and coffee is very bad especially for women. It milks the adrenal glands and ruins them so that they cannot take over to produce estrogen when the ovaries shut down during menopause; there are entire populations who don’t have hot flashes and excessive bleeding symptoms, and they’re the ones who don’t drink coffee. Men will also be effected by it during andropause, as their adrenal glands are supposed to make up the difference for the production of testosterone. It’s probably a big reason why T levels have drastically reduced in men these days, and the lack of fat and meat in the diet makes it harder for the body to heal the adrenals.
Plse could you provide the study as proof that coffee is very bad especially for women, that it milks the adrenal glands and ruins them so that they cannot take over to produce oestrogen when the ovaries shut down during menopause, so as I can read that for myself & believe it? Thanks. Looking forward.
Hey Max, just saw you on Dave Mac's channel. Thought I'd join you - watching with my cup of coffee. I also drink red wine. And have ACV. Put otherwise, coming up to 4 years on carnivore in 2 months (1 Sept). Six years of keto before that. No comparison. Carnivore is fabulous.
I’m carnivore 2 months and have had decent results. I barely have cheese now. Plus I’ve it done on cooking with butter which I would rather have for flavor after and cook with tallow now. Coffee is the last frontier for me to give up. I’ve been holding onto it tightly as it feels like my last treat. However I do agree with you and so noted, I need to give it up. It does affect my anxiety. I actually crave coffee WHEN I am anxious. And it does interfere with my sleep cycles/ cortisol even if I have it in the morning
This may or may nor be helpful to anyone reading but i would like to share my story. Was definitely negatively affected by coffee throughout my life and do agree with much Max has stated in this video. Stopped drinking coffee for many years. That was until i decided to try several different coffee`s. Was really surprised how my body responded to all the different types and brands. This was not subtle. Now after lots of trial n error i only drink high quality Byron Bay certified Organic coffee (several cups in the AM during intermittent fast) with small amount organic Ghee, few drops of ionic potassium/electrolyte or tiny pinch sea salt before my PM meal. Every other coffee seems to have a negative effect on me to one extent or another.... except this one! (so far) I do not drink coffee in the evening but the times i have tried, with this coffee, barely effected my sleep at all. This specific coffee really seems to agree with `me` which i find amazing since never being able to handle coffee in the past at all. Feeling great now, more energized and positive too, drinking several cups every morning/afternoon with no issues since finally finding a coffee that agrees with `me` whilst also seems to be giving me all the benefits coffee is known for without the negatives. Tried a few more apparently quality coffee`s recently and immediately felt some varying negatives in comparison. This has basically proven to me it is not necessarily coffee itself. It is the type, maybe the specific blend, the roast quality and the overall organic *quality* more than anything. How we consume it and finally just finding one that agrees with us individually.. Considering we are all slightly different with so many variables going on which could affect the outcome. In summary i now find drinking coffee such a pleasure and a crucial compliment to the healthy carnivore/keto/fasting lifestyle.. Maybe try some different types - chances are you will also find a quality coffee that *finally* agrees with you - as i have. Good luck 🙂
I will try to quit. I consume too much and put butter in it, and then munch on some butter at the same time, so it's hard to lose weight. Main problem I think is boredom, an obsticle to quitting. Few weeks ago I poisoned myself with diet pepsi, so I fasted 3 days to recover, 1 day was without coffee. I started getting headache and toothache, so I drank coffee again, I thought maybe i'll quit then. But you inspired me to try again now thanks.
@@HiloBoiz808think it's more to the point of not consuming extra energy overall, than what a particular individual would may need for the day. Rather than the fat consumption itself.
yeah i quit coffee and my sleep has gotten much better and when i wake up im energized i also tracked this carefully but i seem to get anxiety when drinking coffee
Another good option for black coffee is drinking it cold brew. Its much smoother than brewed coffee and I drink it this way much easier. No extra ingredients to drink it. Americano is my back up if I can't get cold brew.
Ive found taking 5-HTP helps get rid of cravings for random shit besides meat and fat. Cuz it boosts serotonin and then lowers dopamine, it helps you be less impulsive and crave carbs less. Something interesting to note.
When it comes down to it, it's all about quality of life. For many people, quality is subjective. If someone loves coffee and that's the only pleasurable thing that they have not given up, then that may be worth the less than 100% quality of life. I still drink 3 to 4 cups of coffee each morning but I would like to lessen that but right now I'm finding it difficult because it has become so engrained in my lifestyle to have coffee in the morning.
Risk mitigation describes how and when you drink coffee. Life is all about that. You share valuable information. It is up to individuals to decide what risks are not worth taking a which are worth taking. Thanks
There was this very interesting piece of information that Andrew Huberman (a big coffee drinker) explained. He said that when the doctors checked his lived, they told him whether he was an alcoholic because they found that he had alcoholic fatty liver (can’t remember the exact name). However huberman does not drink alcohol, so they came to the conclusion it was the coffee and then he found out the receptors of the body that intake the coffee aren’t working favorably until 90 minutes to 120 minutes AFTER you wake up. His solution was to start drinking coffee 90 minutes after waking up, and before that drink electrolytes to wake up the brain. A brain without enough electrolytes can’t function properly (learning abilities are stronger when you consume enough electrolytes for your neurons to do the whole electrical activity transferring information) My 2 cents for those who don’t want to give up coffee
I really don't think that we "dislike burnt food *_because_* we can taste that it's carcinogenic" - it tastes bad because there's nothing left, it's just charcoal. You might as well eat carbon. there's nothing there for flavor, there's nothing there for nutrients, there's simply NOTHING there. it may be carcinogenic, but that's not why it inherently tastes bad or why we inherently don't like it.
Coffee is the highlight of my morning ... NOT for the caffeine but for the luscious experience of coffee's heady aroma paired WITH heavy cream. I consume water process de-caffeinated.
Another group of people who should cut out coffee is anyone with any kind of neurological disorder. Getting rid of the coffee was essential to how I cured my 35 year seizure disorder. There is also a lot of new information coming out about carnivore and MS. Also migraines have a substantial overlap with epilepsy, people with one tend to have the other. When my seizures went away, thee migraines went too. Nice side effect.
@@max.german The coating on all the neurons, the myelin, is made from cholesterol. Many neurological issues are the result of degraded or damaged myelin. BTW, I was just like you in college, using caffeine to power through all the stresses and pressures. Then I started having seizures my senior year. The stresses will always be there in your life in one form or another. The question is how much are you willing to mortgage your future health for a temporary boost today. Just sayin'...
At almost 70 years old, I allow myself the freedom to continue drinking coffee and eating my meat with pasta and tomatoes once a week. That is a thousand times better than the food that my fellow human beings eat.
Coffee used to upset my stomach but after Carnivore i drink 3 Cups of Strong Black Coffee Monday through Friday Mornings and have Never Slept Better. I used to Sleep just an Hour at a Time and Now it's 6 Solid Hours of Great Sleep after Carnivore. Your results will probably be Unique to you
I've given up coffee in the past for a few months, felt hugely better, sleep also hugely better. Also makes me hungry. I need to remove it again, permanently !
I quit for a few months every year to reset the effect and reduce the cortisol for a while. after a while coffee for me becomes a "stimulated without focus" issue. when you add it back in, its pretty motivating in small doses. Athletes talk about less muscle lactic acid feeling when recovering and ofcourse sleep is really the main reason we should all not drink the stuff, but kinda hard not too when living in the modern world and working crazy jobs. its the lesser of two evils really, its just bad to have more than 2 cups and after 9am in my opinion, and eventually starts the jitters up.
Just like how many started carnivore diet, try eliminating coffee for 30-90 days and then make an assessment. Take back control of your life, and don't be a slave to your food.
Carnivore has been amazing for me. I took a break from it and still feel good, but not as great as before. Ending my caffeine addiction now (three days so far) and looking forward to getting back on carnivore to see the difference. Thanks for the interesting video.
Many times I have tried to get used to drinking black coffee but I just can't do it. Tried putting a bit of salt in it, maybe some vanilla essence, but, no, nothing makes it palatable for me which makes you wonder if the body is telling you not to drink it.
Absolutely it can be very bitter. You kind of developed an acquired taste for it after a while. Start with a very small amount of coffee beans if you wanted to switch to black.
Good video thanks MX .. ~6 months into my carnivore diet, my coffee policies are still shifting. I kicked coffee in Feb/Mar, then returned in Apr .. More recently I've been having a 50/50 mild coffee with milk (Reheated in the microwave; 2 per day) - Reason for this has been to soften the impact to my adrenal glands which has been successful, but I acknowledge the insulin spikes - I had attempted butter/cream earlier & found that weight-loss was slowed. From your comments, I think I'll give the butter/cream another shot, then see if I can reduce to 1 per day; The challenge with kicking takes several days to normalise & includes a few headaches in transition. ☕🐄
Well heck. 3/4 as i drink my morning coffee (which indeed does make me poop)…. Guess i need to pull the trigger and start tapering and see if it makes a good difference
i found my body will tell me what it wants now that i am on carnivore. i tried to keep eating chocolate every now and then, but my body has told me its a bad idea. I still have coffee, and sometimes have with cream sometimes have milk but not often, and for a snack i'll take pork rinds or a yogurt. Other than that just meats, mostly Bacon with butter and vinegar
I’m trying to slowly get back to a carnivore diet but coffee has always been a problem for me, it gives me all the problems because I have too much 😅 problem made worse by living in Wellington lol
I want to quit coffee, but it is the absolute hardest thing to get rid of ㅜㅜ I recognize that it is also a kind of food/chemical addiction and so ingrained as a work habit. After this, I am going to attempt eliminating it entirely again. Wish me luck. 🥩
Just cut down your consumption so it's not as much of a shock. I only consume it very early in the morning so my body has at least 12 hours to get rid of the small amount of caffeine I consume. Or switch to decaf?
I just started putting one egg yolk and a little bit of butter in my coffee. I’m Avoiding cream now and the egg yolk makes the best coffee. But I think I probably should stop drinking it. Maybe one day
Coffee is not for everyone. If carnivore or omnivore. Since 2 years I drink no coffee and so because I do not not use coffee therefore I do not lack it.
Please, Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet .(Sorry if i already posted before but i dont know what to do) : I am now over 200 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else but 500-600g of COCKED meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss- HIT Workouts) I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a HEALHTY guy with NO chronic illnesses or health problems. I lost about 17 lbs(8kg) in the first 9 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 8 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements like waist, legs, arms and neck ).In fact i have gained 2,5 lbs(1KG between weeks 10-12, but it might be just water. I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor have I changed my body composition significantly I am now over 12 weeks with no body fat lost. So I would like to ask a few question about the Carnivore diet: 1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnivore diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat) 2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?(how many weeks or months) 3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition? I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet. PS: Most of my time as a Carnivore i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat. Also, Sorry for any grammar mistake, i am Brazilian and english is not my first language. Thank you for your attention!.
It took 3 months on carnivore before I lost weight. I’ve heard some people say they’ve never lost weight. I’ve never gotten the good results either. I have autoimmune diseases, which is the only reason I’m staying on it, but my enthusiasm is waning. And the first couple weeks I found out I have the oxalate dumping issue, so I have left a piece of fruit with each meal in my diet. This may have something to do with the fact that I’m not feeling any better, but how do I get through the dumping? It’s excruciatingly painful. Anyway I don’t feel the same way I did when I started this, 4 3/4 months ago. I thought it was going to be the cure for me, but sadly, I think I’ve been mistaken. I have lost 26 pounds now, so I may remain on it just for that reason as I have a lot of weight to lose. I also got rid of eggs, coffee and cream and everything else but meat and two pieces of fruit. I may be losing weight just because I’m in a calorie deficit. Who knows? Sometimes I feel too nauseous just to think of eating another piece of meat. So, sometimes I just decide not to eat at all. They used to say “variety is the spice of life,” I think that goes for food, too! This is getting old quickly! If I felt better, I probably would not be thinking this way🤷🏻♀️
@@joevans5713 I believe I am getting enough fat. I always have some butter with my meat, especially is I’m having a leaner cut. I try to eat as many ribeyes as I can, too.

I've never had a problem quitting coffee. I often switched up what I drank like herbal teas and regular coffee. I've switched permanently to decaf coffee and it doesn't seem to be affecting me much. I do sometimes forget to drink it if I'm busy in the morning. I notice little difference in my mood or anything else. I would like to go off it for a few weeks to see if I see any more healing. I'm addicted to a warm drink in the morning. It was hard to give up sugar. I just have to find something warm to drink in the morning that is enjoyable. Bone broth latte anyone?
500>>310 pounds on. 80% carnivore. I only take diet breaks when I hit new milestone. I take Celsius, just has caffeine, taurine, egcg. 10 calories. I need to go bathroom in morning, and I do my hardest workout before breakfast. Cortisol naturally spikes in morning. Caffeine also makes me much less hungry. I would sometimes take a second Celsius at noon. Sometimes this was ok, but usually net negative. Although hunger would drop to dead zero, I won’t deny it was usually harder to sleep. And I did start to feel that chest thumping stress which felt unnatural at 6 pm compared to a hyped morning 6 am. Could I go without caffeine ? I think so. I tried for a while last year for 2 weeks. Tbh the weight loss kept going but, the hunger was bit higher. I also had to slowly ramp up in the morning and I had to let my body decide when to go bathroom. It sounds VERY STUPID but the biggest reason I still take Celsius is to go to the bathroom asap. I bet ideal universe situation I could wake up, lift weights at home, poop when the time was right, finish lifting, breakfast, work from home, walk afternoon, lunch, etc, chill and naturally sleep. But I gotta do irl on a schedule lol I’m sry =C
Carnivore took my psoriasis away initially while I carried on drinking coffee but it came back.. it wasn't until I noticed after I drank coffee I needed the toilet and was always lose stool so I stopped drinking it and my psoriasis went again. I'm in a battle with it now, i go a few days without psoriasis goes.. I have a couple coffee over a few days and psoriasis comes back. Definitely doesn't work for me drinking coffee
Long black coffee or a bit of milk in it is actually not messing with my carnivore diet journey. Although butter makes it taste better lol. So far so good for me, but please get to know your body. Read how it may affect you before you decide to keep including it in your diet.
I gave up my decaf because I have an autoimmune condition (Vitiligo). Now I'm doing an elimination diet - lion - just beef, tallow and water for 60 days. I drink hot water with some tallow and salt. We shall see...
Thank you for being transparent about your personal use. I too find that I need that boost of caffeine from too little sleep but it has become a ‘tradition’ (aka addiction 🤣). I just recently started carnivore and am 69yo.I have worked labor on horse farms and in warehouses most of my life so want to extend how long I can keep that up. I enjoy working hard! I realize though that I my be cutting my nose off to spite my face using caffeine to keep motoring…I know from watching great content on a carnivore lifestyle by Drs. on YT, that a lot of the problem of really being serious has to do with our conditioning. Well, I am going to try caffeine pills ( with theanine) to see if the jitters and anxiety side effect goes away as they ‘say’ it does in reviews. I have tried to quit coffee but I am one of those women that are tired all the time. One of the hopes I have is that the carnivore life will change that! Certainly I hope I did not damage my organs too badly and can reverse most of my health issues. Quitting sugar was HARD but so far so good. I was keeping coffee with cream but learning about the carcinogens, pesticides, and poison in coffee and plants I think it will have to go. Keep the great content coming! 👍
For me it gives me anxiety, also it dehydrates me lowering the electrolytes in my body causing cramps, I also believe I suffer from ADHD which is greatly affected by coffee as I quit for a six months stint and I could focus and do long tasks.
In my experience, sugar is one of the most addictive substances around. I personally found it easier to give up nicotine, supposedly more addictive than cocaine, than to give up sugar. Yet caffeine is even more habit forming. I can go long periods without caffeine. But then I'll hit a rough patch where I feel tired and stressed. It's so easy for me to to give into the craving for caffeine to give me that quick boost. And then I just want more and more. I keep falling off the wagon. I tell myself that I'll just have it some caffeine one day until I get some sleep. But if end up drinking too much of it, it will just end up disrupting my sleep that night. So, I'll be even sleeper the next day. That is how I spiral down into a caffeine binge. Even so, it's easy for me to give it up again. I just need to wait for the weekend when I don't need alertness. Once I'm caught up on sleep again, and once I've destressed a bit, I feel fine. I'll once again go for a long period without caffeine. Each time I learn I'm incapable of moderation. That is what led me to do sugar abstinence. I just can't do a little bit of anything that has any addictive potential.
Anything as addictive as coffee is probably not good for you. I want to quit but have not been able to yet. 😱 I've been carnivore for 3+ years. Have been wanting to quit coffee for 2 years. I don't know if it causes me problems, but I just don't want to be addicted to anything. Lots of butter, but I'm not trying to lose weight.
life changing podcasts @ 6pm MST, live chat.. good vid, thanks i knew coffee was not so go, even DR Gundry says that seed products are very bad for ppl.. lectins
I couldn't have sugar anymore on carnivore so a cup of coffee with cream was my only luxury. It did not hurt my carnivore results in the slightest.
It's never hurt anyone's carnivore results. These frauds just need content.
Keep drinking it´s full with healthy antioxidants etc.
Shaddup
I try, but then i add up the empty calories from cream and it's almost half my caloric intake for the day -_-
I think every carnivore owes it to themselves to spend at least some period of time as strict as they can just to see how much healing is possible.
Good for you! My anxiety has been greatly reduced, too. It's wonderful!
I used to bite my nails off too but I had to stop for a different reason. On carnivore my nails became to thick and tough to bite off!
i have to wear a bit guard at night, i was wondering if i still need it
Is that because coffee!
I'm a coffee addict, but I have a rule to only have one cup a day while on a carnivore diet.
Diddo Plus barista @ home 😂
Just went through the worst 5 days without coffee....realizing if something can affect me that bad to be without, it is bad for me. Period. I had issues with Magnesium....all my minerals went through a havoc reaction. Feels like I am over now from the elimination process. Thank god!
Now it only gets better. Better sleep, energy and mood
Same here. I started getting worse after I re-introduced coffee. Along with what you have, I have 4 autoimmune diseases that I am hoping to reverse. One of them now is attacking my heart. So the coffee has to go.

Thank you. It’s definitely best to not have it if possible. But like I said I’m my current circumstances I think the good outweighs the bad for me.
@@max.german Spoken like every coffee addict ever lol.
@@dan-qe1tb It's probably just a coincidence that the rash went away when I stopped the carbs but I guess I won't go to the real doctor to tell them I had an itchy rash a year ago.
Another reason not to have it is all coffee brands contain mold.

A) anxiety went to 0
B) energy levels stabilised
C) sleep became better and deeper
D) started having dreams again. Oddly.
For context was throwing back 6 to 10 coffees a day, mostly instant.
Giving up is a lot like breaking carb addiction, but is much easier. A few days of headaches.
Anyway, you do you and enjoy. Either way coffee certainly won’t kill you.
Very interesting
I needed to hear this. Coffee is the only thing I didn't completely eliminate and think its why my carnivore results have plateaued for the last 3 months. I have more than 1 cup a day too and think it's time to go lion just to see what it's like to be completely clean on the inside
I’m thinking about doing the same thing. Ingest nothing but 100% meat and water for a good long while. See what it’s like completely free of any external dietary influence. And coffee is a major influence on our internal state.
The withdrawal’s can be rough but that sounds like a good idea
Coffee = Liquid drug for addicts.

Hahahha same
I can quit everything and I’ve done but can’t coffee just can’t
Amen to that! ☕️
The positive outcomes from drinking coffee should outweigh the fact it comes from a seed. Drink your coffee and enjoy it - do we care about not having anything plant related, or do we care about living a healthful life? If it's the latter, coffee is not bad for you, period.
Not sure my influences my results. I only have 1 - 11oz cup in the morning (each day). I wonder if one coffee a day is holding me back.
My grandmother drank coffee most of her life and lived 101 years. I’m tired of all the fear that everything is bad for us. I restarted drinking coffee after years of quitting because I enjoy it, I’ve given up enough already.
There's people who live into their 90s who have smoked cigarettes all their lives would you recommend that also? Stupid argument.
There are definitely worse things. Like I said I still drink it. I made this video because their are some people who would be a lot better without it.
You grandmothers coffee was not the same as the coffee today.
@@suew4609it took my system 9 months before my sleep Apnea, and allergies away. Where as most people say theirs went away with in 6 months.
I use the chocolate LMNT in my coffee too and it's fantastic. Although it's half decaf, half regular coffee.
About a small pinch of Celtic salt in my coffee 👌🏾
Get Starbux to start offering Americana with a pat or two of butter!
That's what I do, just ask for the butter, they have it for breakfast foods like bagels.
Heavy cream with water, steamed. Melted butter. salt.
---> *_A couple of things to think about:_*
*_Organic Caffeine vs "Chemical" Caffeine. That's Caffeine from a cup of Coffee Vs. Caffeine from a Caffeine pill; the Caffeine is made/created 2 different ways._*
*_And people react differently. So now you can see the amount in some different beverages._*
*_Also, many Caffeine pills are slow release, so you have a steady release of Caffeine over the day._*
*_I feel "strange" when I drink Coffee, but I feel "great" the entire day when I take 1-2 100mg Caffeine Pills in the morning; which I take 1-1,5h after waking up._*
*_Also, I am CLEARLY more allergic in the spring if I drink Coffee Vs. if I take Caffeine Pills instead; an allergy reduction by 90% I'd wager._*
*_Also, there's benefits to adding a small pinch of Salt(some Maldon triangles) to your morning Coffee. Not only will this bring forth a new flavour profile; it will easy your stomach if the acidity is too much for you. And a Carnivore needs more Salt than others anyhow._*
*_Does Caffeine help your bowel movements? Well, yes, but there are other factors. It's more the warm liquid that starts a bowel movement, try just drinking a cup of Hot Water in the morning and see for yourself._*
*_Now, I do not know if mixing Organic Caffeine and "Chemical" Caffeine has any benefits or downsides. It does seem that when adding Caffeine to other components for increased effect; it's the "Chemical" or In-Organic Caffeine that works best?_*
Brilliant point about caffeine pills. Hm

Thank you❤️
Thank you.
I would estimate that the optimal average consumption of a varying amount of coffee at different times of the day will be once a month.
If you are interested, why I came to this conclusion, then read on.
All humans are addicted.
Addicted to alcohol, nicotine, hard drugs, caffein, habits, social acceptance, being loved, status, sense of life, shelter, sex, physical contact, raising children, curiosity, sugar/carbs, protein, fat, oxygen, food, …
The addiction serves as a trigger which forces us into beneficial behaviors.
As you can see, the caffeine question is getting quite complicated…
Considering all the above, I would estimate that the optimal average consumption of a varying amount of coffee at different times of the day will be once a month.
For people who, as I am, are interested in finding and implementing the perfect conditions for our body and soul, such analysis, research and discussion is essential.

Correction, Max. REM sleep is not deep sleep. You are confusing it with delta wave sleep. In REM, we are dreaming, more highly active overall, as evidenced by eye movement. Both are necessary, for sure.
Also, the eyes do not move "up and down", they move side to side.
Thank you!🌼
I developed anxiety.

I like that presentation type of video concept. Keep it going. Great video.
(so far)
I do not drink coffee in the evening but the times i have tried, with this coffee, barely effected my sleep at all.

No worries bro. If weight loss is your goal black coffee is definitely better than having it with a considerable amount of butter.
yeah i quit coffee and my sleep has gotten much better and when i wake up im energized i also tracked this carefully but i seem to get anxiety when drinking coffee
That’s interesting
I find cold brew to be smoother, less bitter than regular brewed coffee. I like it black.
Another good option for black coffee is drinking it cold brew. Its much smoother than brewed coffee and I drink it this way much easier. No extra ingredients to drink it. Americano is my back up if I can't get cold brew.
Thank you Max, for making these videos. They are very informative, interesting and encouraging. Subscribed to learn more.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed.
I drink coffee but I don't pretend it's healthy or good. I'm addicted. Working on it.
A brain without enough electrolytes can’t function properly (learning abilities are stronger when you consume enough electrolytes for your neurons to do the whole electrical activity transferring information)
My 2 cents for those who don’t want to give up coffee
Very interesting
A friend of mine had a fatty liver and she doesn’t drink coffee or tea or alcohol. Go figure!
You forgot to mention getting a caffeine pill instead of getting a bunch of plant crap from coffee
Coffee is the highlight of my morning ... NOT for the caffeine but for the luscious experience of coffee's heady aroma paired WITH heavy cream. I consume water process de-caffeinated.
It is very nice waking up and having a nice warm cup of coffee. I enjoy it very much myself.
Very interesting. Next video I make like this I will mention this. Thank you.
I switched to organic decaf and love it, I have Oxalate Poisoning, coffee does not cause me pain or illness, like spices do.
Interesting
Same here. Feel like a difference person. Goodluck, let me know how it goes. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Really good presentation of the considerations. Thank you.
No worries, thank you
Good video thanks MX ..
I drink several cups a day
I’m trying to slowly get back to a carnivore diet but coffee has always been a problem for me, it gives me all the problems because I have too much 😅 problem made worse by living in Wellington lol
I’ve been drinking a lot of it while losing 108 lbs but I’m going to try giving it up and see how I feel. My knee has been sore the entire time.
I want to quit coffee, but it is the absolute hardest thing to get rid of ㅜㅜ
I recognize that it is also a kind of food/chemical addiction and so ingrained as a work habit.
After this, I am going to attempt eliminating it entirely again. Wish me luck. 🥩
Just cut down your consumption so it's not as much of a shock. I only consume it very early in the morning so my body has at least 12 hours to get rid of the small amount of caffeine I consume. Or switch to decaf?
well done Max!
Thank you
I just started putting one egg yolk and a little bit of butter in my coffee.
Please, Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet .(Sorry if i already posted before but i dont know what to do) :
I am now over 200 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else but 500-600g of COCKED meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss- HIT Workouts)
I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition.
I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor have I changed my body composition significantly
I am now over 12 weeks with no body fat lost.
So I would like to ask a few question about the Carnivore diet:
1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnivore diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat)
2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?(how many weeks or months)
3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition?
If I felt better, I probably would not be thinking this way🤷🏻♀️
@@suew4609Are you consuming enough animal fat as well?
Intermittent Fasting
@@joevans5713 I believe I am getting enough fat. I always have some butter with my meat, especially is I’m having a leaner cut. I try to eat as many ribeyes as I can, too.
@@derekwalker569 I have been fasting 15-18 hours. I think this is what started me losing weight. I may try some longer fasting and see if that will help me to lose quicker.
Good to know. Thanks.
I appreciate it when you specify if the issue being talked about concerns the coffee or the caffeine. Have you any information about decaf coffee?
Coffee is great! Traded on the commodity market! I love it! Couple cups a day is wonderful! You will die from something besides coffee
You don’t happen to work in the coffee industry, do you? 😂
Like your honesty mate, I drink it pre workout 🏋️♀️
Thank you
Sorry.. not giving up my coffee...givin up everythingelse but thats not happining...good or bad..i only drink it black always have... ocassonally add mct oil
I'm willing to give it a shot...
Been easing into carnivore for 1/2 year
You are absolutely fabulous!!!❤
Thank you❤️
I’ve been carnivore for 2months bc I have rheumatoid arthritis most likely caused by leaky gut. As of yesterday I had to gave up coffee. 😢
190lbs down is incredible. Respect. Coffee is much better than an energy drink. Keep up the good work.
Not all coffee has caffeine.
Pretty sure even decaf has a little bit of caffeine in it.

The pro-carnivore doctor helping me handle my type 1 diabetes depends on coffee. I find that if I forget to drink coffee I don’t really miss it.
Thank you very much. I agree I do love my coffee.
