I stopped drinking coffee six weeks ago. I was drinking a strong cup with a little cream. Am very drowsy in the mornings and struggle to fall asleep at night. It’s high summer and that may be a factor. Previously I have stopped coffee and felt energetic after a few days or a week. However, I am older now and stopped doing social coffee when I was banned from cafes for a long time. 2021 was horrible in Italy. In Australia I found myself struggling to appreciate coffee that was $6.50. Its very poor quality. I have been having strong home brews for a long time and this will pass. I like coffee but the world has changed and I don’t want to be in the habit of drinking it in the mornings. Fortunately I am able to rest at those times when I feel tired. I would never brew it any other way, love my Bialetti. I used to find coffee too acidic no matter what I did, then a 80 year old former Jesuit Priest turned Zen Buddhist scholar told me about the Moka pots. He said the Jesuits drink their coffee that way every day, and it results in a less acidic brew. I tried it, and never looked back. God bless that man. He's still kicking, and teaching around the world!
I tend to agree with the Ayurveda perspective on coffee. It's not for every body type. Some will find it increases acidity too much (Pitta), some will find it frazzled the nerves too much (Vata) but Kaphas do fine with it if taken after a meal, early enough in the day. It's even said to benefit them. Always add cream or full fat milk and sweeten if desired.

Great natural way to open up the lungs too, if you ever have a chest cold or asthma. Warm water with honey and lime or lemon is always lovely as well. Rooibos tea is quite nice.
It's an addictive stimulant, that causes a very strong habit. As a coffee-drinker, I concur that the downsides are greater than the benefits from consuming a plant-defense toxin.
Best way to thrive is to drink coffee for a while, then eliminate it(gradually)from your diet for a while & just read & feel how your body responds. As with alcohol too much is a disaster, but a little goes a long way. 😂
Get a Chemex style pour over, use unbleached manilla paper filters. Bloom your grounds, use a gooseneck kettle, and pour correctly. Best coffee you will ever have.
Many of these issues are valid concerns, though high-quality research is lacking. The one thing we do know indisputably is that drinking coffee is very good for you in many, many ways. Presumably, most of the folks who do drink coffee are not concerned with all of these potential problems and are not avoiding plastics and water contaminants---yet they're still better off drinking coffee than not. The effects of coffee in preventing Parkinson's and various forms of dementia are especially impressive. Lots of prospective studies are available at this point, and unlike so many dietary survey studies, people do actually know how much coffee they consume, so self-reporting is probably relatively accurate.

@@RebekkaHaydisagree. Have stored mine in the fridge, freezer or counter, and as all three are prepared the same way and end up hot, they taste the same.
Yes whole amd and grind yourself, taste better and healthier. Dark roast though, don’t see how that’s healthier, that’s just more acryimides etc. though I always by a ‘black n tan’
I make cold brew coffee using my french press. Tastes so good I don't use a creamer or milk half the time
The fact that you started to acknowledge that there is more than one way to being healthy was the moment I started to listen to what you had to say. I was vegetarian since I was 16 and started to be more open minded towards eating meat because of the information that you share.
I live one hour away from the Mt Valley Water site in Hot Springs. You can go bottle your own spring water 🎉❤
That is crazy cool!
Hey Paul, I'm loving your new ABC products from Lineage. Adding bananas and raw cacao powder to your ABC makes a perfect protein smoothie. Since I am a banana farmer in Maui it works well with my environment. Mahalo! PS - looking forward to your honey.
I remember Ken Berry doing a podcast and talked about coffee. I do t recall exactly, but there is something in coffee that he said wasn’t good for us that we drink when using French press or similar filter…but the paper filter manages to remove most of that. Wish I could recall
That is a good video and worth re-watching!
The coffee was prepared in a stainless steel coffee maker with pure water and no added sugar. I look forward to the winter when days are short and nights are long. I cannot wrap my head around people who drink coffee and go to bed. The people I am thinking of drink instant coffee.
Enjoy your coffee everybody. I just want to be out of the habit.
Im an organic focused beekeeper. I use zero chemcals in the hives or the land. Im pretty remote too. Would honestly love to test my honey at a lab.
Thank you for being committed to quality and not harming our environment (and thus people) more. 🙏🏻
@@Ididntwantayoutubehandlthank you for saying that. It’s tough. We import so much crappy funny honey from Brazil, Pakistani, and India. It’s rice syrup fake stuff. Most of it blended with Chinese counterfeit stuff. Makes it hard for us local and real beekeepers.
I drink lemon water right before my coffee, it seems to help with electrolyte imbalance.
I've cut down to one espresso in the morning from 3-4/daily. There's been times when I was traveling long distances and didn't have access to coffee. I never got those withdrawal headaches. I had friends in the army who did 6-10 cups per day. One of them quit cold turkey and woke up in the middle of the night with cold sweats from the withdrawal
My drink is eleuthero, maca and chaga and I have so much energy!!!
My well water is just fine. Thank you.
Same! 💪😎
I take every once in a while breaks from coffee, but when i drink it i always use organic coffee and only drink in the mornings.
Good organic coffee with milk, maple syrup, cinnamon even molasses goes along way the ray, Pete coffee
I've done pourover forever and recently realized the bleaching processes that the filters go through. I ended up getting an organic cotton cone filter that I use with my glass V60 and stainless steel kettle. Always good to know the source of your beans. There are some amazing organic and regenerative producers that partner with small roasters to create some phenomenal coffee.
There are unbleached paper filters.
Where did you get your cotton filter?
@@Ididntwantayoutubehandl Coffeesock. It's worked great for the last 4 months of daily use.
Omg!..this really old man I used to work with back in the 70s would sometimes say “ I’m sexier than a three peckered billy goat” I thought that was something he came up with and when I seen that coffee it brought a tear, I haven’t heard that saying before til now!
Paul is the true Goat!
Thank you!
@@Paulk305 😂
Reverse osmosis water doesn't extract coffee well or make it taste good. Spring water is a better suggestion. Water for coffee needs minerals.
Coffee removes my Magnesium and B-vitamins so I rarely drink it now- It doesn't matter if is super organic as well-
I heard it lowers thiamin (B1)..
I am really glad to have found you. THANK YOU for sharing your helpful knowledge!
Right on! organic beans & the afternoon the decaf at health food store, water processed. Spring water. Quality milk heated & no sugar. less oxalates than tea, so in my book healthier than tea.
I've become addicted to coffee due to intermittent fasting four years ago because it was easier with coffee. Now I can’t quit
Yes you can!
Try shifting to Yerba Mate. Helps with potential withdrawal symptoms, and offers many benefits.
dont quit. coffee rules
you can also avoid silly plungers - use the classic Moka Pot made of stainless steel - effectively a mini espresso machine.
They have Moka pots in various sizes but I always thought they were aluminum?
@@suzettebisanti347 they make both. I've used a classic Moka pot for ages, which is aluminum. Don't care.
I brew organic mycotoxin free coffee in a stainless steel moka pot. 👌
Single origin coffee from Ethiopia is often not labelled as organic, however most farms basically follow organic growing practices
Try Organic Raw Turbinado Cane Sugar with a pinch of real salt
I do love adding cream, sugar and sea salt. So good.
French press or non-filtered brewing raises triglycerides and lowers HDL so I guess pour-over it is!
Thank you for always providing top knowledge!
My newest favorite RUclipsr ❤❤❤
I tend to agree with the Ayurveda perspective on coffee. It's not for every body type. Some will find it increases acidity too much (Pitta), some will find it frazzled the nerves too much (Vata) but Kaphas do fine with it if taken after a meal, early enough in the day. It's even said to benefit them. Always add cream or full fat milk and sweeten if desired.
Why would we give up coffee? It's SUPER HEALTHY as provided by thousands of Science papers and research.
😂😂
That's highly debated. It sits in a grey area even if you don't consider heavy metals and mold spores.
Decaf coffee is fine but normal coffee can cause sleep problems
@@AlyssiaStation It is not highly debated, quite the opposite by the 100s of respected Doctors and Science Journals I follow it is overly proved to be one of the best foods for brain health, antioxidants, decreased risk of dementia and parkinsons etc..
Because it's an addictive stimulant drug and a known neurotoxin
Cold brew is good for less acid in a glass jar and molasses is also ok for mineral rich sweetener
I drank coffee for the first time in a year and it made me extremely anxious and jittery, it really is a drug.
Depends upon your body, when you drink it, how, etc.
It’s cool that he recommends remineralized distilled water for health reasons, and the third wave coffee nerds on RUclips recommend it for extraction reasons lol
I use it for my espresso machine and my steel kettle for pour overs.
Also keeps the water tank from building up limescale. Worth every penny for that alone.
i gave up coffee a year ago and now i dont need paracetamol or ibuprofen anymore . crazy hey. and im so much more efficient. i would’ve expected the opposite. but just look at Paul! Boundless energy no caffeine .
I love my 2-4 cups of coffee a day! It helps in the morning with a bowel movement it cleans u out and helps me focus and be attentive and productive but the trick is to find the amount that works for you without the jitters and anxiety. I brew it with RO water in a stainless steel Italian moka pot
25 years ago when I was body building, 💪🏼 I trained myself to drink black coffee and unsweetened iced tea. If I drink hot tea I add honey. 🍯
what would some good morning bevarage substitutes be? Im open to quitting caffeine, but i just love the ritual of a warm beverage
Yerba Mate is technically caffeinated but if you try it you'll find it's so mild, just offers a ton of health benefits and the taste is gorgeous. I can even sip that before bed and sleep like a baby. Great natural way to open up the lungs too, if you ever have a chest cold or asthma.
Warm water with honey and lime or lemon is always lovely as well. Rooibos tea is quite nice.
You could try bone broth.
It's an addictive stimulant, that causes a very strong habit. As a coffee-drinker, I concur that the downsides are greater than the benefits from consuming a plant-defense toxin.
Not for everyone.
That's what my mother brewed, I prefer the Moka pot. Strong, but feels lower acid and very smooth.
Would be cool to see a video of surprising foods you eat or that are healthier then others
Can you make a how it’s made video on the organ pills and how much goes into each pill
I appreciate this video. As a coffee drinker, I have no plans on quitting, cuz I enjoy it. Thanks for giving some of your suggestions on how to make coffee a healthier drink. Each of those things, I do, and have done for years. Mmmm...coffee.
Coffee is best with fresh roasted beans there is an art to it, but Coffee is fake energy and everyones adrenals are shot, so takes a bit to kick - need lots of herbs and mushrooms
Thank You Paul for all your work, I love how you tackle every aspect of health with major emphasis on diet! You are the man!Keep it up!This is how you thank a veteran!
Wtf Paul! “Three Peckered Billy Goat!?!” 😂🤣💀
If you can't perform without it, it stopped conferring a benefit.
Agreed!
Willpower. Commit or just don't bother. That seems to be THE problem with people. I drink only water now. It took a few weeks but now it's all I care about.

The Zero water pitcher is highly worth a mention. They are far superior to the other inexpensive filters and supposedly filter out like 98% of the fluoride.
Very surprised you didn’t mention start with whole bean and grind yourself before using. Taste way better and keeps mold off
Just poured my first cup of water from my countertop reverse osmosis filter. I bought the AquaTru. Pretty jazzed about it. Btw, butter in your coffee, Laird mocha and some coconut cream...
smoooth! Takes the bite out of coffee. Can't even stand black coffee.
Cane sugar. I don’t eat it, but if I were to eat it, this is how I would eat it.
Ever had raw cane juice? It's incredible. Hard to find but nectar of the gods.
Small bit of maple syrup and raw cream, froth it up! Great cold foam
I started cold brewing my coffee using mason jars. I always drink my coffee black. I feel like it’s been so much better for my stomach cold brewed.
Thumb Up Paul, good content
For over a year now this is how I drink my coffee. Raw honey, grassfed butter, organic heavy cream. It's great!
Its never-ending, everything is bad for you......
And this how people develop food paranoia and weird eating habits. Some people are convinced that 90% of what's in the grocery is going to kill them... so instead they waste money on expensive supplements and get all of the calories from powered drink beverages.
Youre starting to realize that our modern lifestyle is nearly fully inhumane and destructive, congrats

Hi Paul, long time viewer of your content and appreciate all you've done to raise people's understanding of a meat based diet.
I have a question: I've been eating circa 750g of meat (primarily red beef and organs) for the last 2 years and have for the first time in my life I've been getting kidney infections (twice in the last 12 months).
What's your view on the role of red meat and kidney function? It's interesting to me that I've not suffered from kidney issues previously and haven't changed a lot else in my diet.
Looking forward to your response!
Matt
You mentioned a glass French press. I have a stainless steel one. I also have a Kangen machine and only use Kangen water for my coffee and for cooking.
Wow I think sweeteners like monk fruit is what might be triggering by hypoglycemia since it is confusing my body
It's possible. Fake sweeteners, whatever the source, aren't necessary anyway.
Dr. Layne Norton just posted a video about Paul you people should watch. FYI I do not follow the guy but his video is funny.
