I had the pleasure of having lunch with George once. A great conversationalist. Very intelligent, insightful, and so gracious.
How blessed you are to have spent time with this wonderful man. What a gift!
Well your last name fits his liking. How did that “come” about?
Of course you did.
@@mem1701moviesWhat a weird thing to focus on.
You left out bitter and can't get over anything he doesn't like.
George is great. I had the pleasure of meeting him once, and he's an absolute class act.
Yes, he was here for a con once, and we got him to attend a room party. Such a nice man!
George was fantastic on the Howard Stern Show. He became their announcer and sat in with the crew every now and then. He opens up about his personal life a TON.
Legendary.
Tsunami…..
Props to Georgie for giving Stern credit for how he basically gave him his now signature line. Him and Braddard are a hoot on the show.
The "Sulu Dance" song parody also helped bring Takei back into the limelight.
@@ericv7720 The Sulu Dance is also from Howard Stern, he really reignited Georgie's career.
What an absolute treasure of a man!!
What a great guy. Smart funny, and compassionate. And that voice of his should be heard on more things. He's like Morgan Freeman, he could narrate anything.
He has. He's narrated dozens of audio books (including Star Trek ones), as well as many documentaries. He even narrated one of my favourite episodes of the TV show Community! 😊
@@OptimusGPrime he narrated community episodes? That show was so funny
George is the epitome of taking your life and molding it to your will and truly living. I love how he has made sure that his Star Trek time is both a part of him but doesn't define him. I wish all TV/movie stars could learn from this. It's so depressing seeing those that live 40-50 years out as booth jockeys at conventions, always awaiting that next big breakout role instead of trailblazing forward into other avenues and letting Hollywood try and keep up with them and not the other way around.
I can think of more depressing sights. Let them live their life how they want.
@@jerotoro2021 After speaking to many of them over the years, this not what they want, this is what they’re forced to do.
Biiiiig words.
Did you know that one of his first acting gigs was doing voice overs for the TOHO movie "Rodan"? He was recruited for the part by Key Luke, of "Kung Fu" and "Gremlins" fame.
George Takei is the uncle or uncle figure we all wish we had.
As in the uncle who buggered you?
Just don't let him get you into a wrestling match. :)
...not that there's anything wrong with that.
@@84westy55 grow up
@@epistemological Never listened to George speak about it on Howard Stern, eh? He's spoken of it on several occasions.
George is a national treasure. He must be protected at all costs
Testify
I was just getting ready to post that very sentiment! Thanks!
* international treasure
What makes him a national treasure?
@@JohnSmith-gq9gn probably being treasured by a nation, just a thought.
I'd argue he's a world treasure though.
George has a very interesting life story.
Bless him.
And now we know the origin of the infamous "oh my!"
Mister Takei was the guest host for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra many years ago when they did an ode to Sci-Fi films (hearing the theme song to Lifeforce played live was amazing). My wife and I went and although I have always been a fan that night was truly magical. He is such a joy to listen to no matter the occasion.
I'm gonna have to dig up a copy of Lifeforce, thanks for reminding us that film exists!
@@bartolomeothesatyr Welcome haha! It is quite unique and had a stellar soundtrack. Plus Sir Patrick Stewart is in it. I think that was my first introduction to him as a youth. Unless it was Dune.
@@kornsin I'm pretty sure the first thing I saw Sir Patrick in was Excalibur.
@@bartolomeothesatyr Ah, good call! That is another one I need to go back and watch again.
That is such an excellent origin story for an iconic catch phrase. Oh my! 😂😂😂😂😂
George is always fantastic when he’s on Howard’s show. He never disappoints. Always so open and honest about his life. He’s truly the gift, that keeps on giving.
Takei , George Takei
George Takai!
What a legend!!

Takei to the limit, one more time.

Such a great ambassador for so many reasons 💗💗💗 so proud to be a fellow American with George Takei.
@The Gràham Norton Show lol bot.
I could listen to George Takei tell stories all day long...
I could listen to him talk all day long.. He's got an iconic. Voice like Morgan Freeman or Orsen Welles or Vincent Price
You are comparing him to Welles, Freeman and Price ? I respectfully must disagree. Has a great voice. I could give you 20 better off the top of my head.
Wrong, George doesn't sound like any of those guys. They all sound like *George* 😉😂
@@magpie.314 true I wasn't saying anyone sounded like him tho..or he sounded like any of those I listed I said he had an iconic voice just as those I listed have
@@theimp5901 fair enough
George Takei and Howard Stern are one of the greatest combos ever. I love them both very dearly
never thought I'd see the day tbh - great to see George on this show at last, I'm surprised he's never been on before
What a great story, what a great story teller.
Haven't seen this great actor for a long time. 😀
Probably because after Star Trek no one wanted him. He did a great Twilight Zone before Trek.
He was in 'The Terror' Season Two recently
He got cancelled for sexually assaulting people. On Howard Stern he boasted about grabbing men's genitals without consent
He was also in Heroes as Hiro's father.
Funny :) Nice to see George and to hear that Howard is still in there doing funny things :)
now we know the rest of the story
love george and his husband's good works for the LGBT community
also their humor
Paul Harvey: And now you know.....the rest of the story
1:39 TFS King Kai: "Seriously! How do people keep getting on this line?!"
As a child in the 60's I liked him in Star Trek now as a gentleman of a certain age I love him on Twitter, when he passes as all of our icons do the world will not be a better place.
Sorry, I really don't like it. It seems tacky to talk about people dying when they are absolutely alive. I would say, respecting you, simply say how you appreciate George now.
@@g-r-a-e-m-e- Gorge doesn't have a problem with it, I've seen him speak a few times about what his legacy will be, why not tweet him and ask his opinion
George is AMAZING. Some 25 years ago, he was doing a book signing, and I was nearly the last person in line and he was clearly in a hurry. But when I mentioned reading it, he turned on those megawatt eyes and gave me a smile that lit up the room. Instant love. And Howard I always think about if someone talks of 9/11. My husband and I were out, no tv, and someone had Stern on the radio. He was forced to stay on the radio live and report as he witnessed a national tragedy unfolding a stone's throw away. Respect for him. OH MY is everywhere and doesn't get old. It was even on a children's show Bubble Guppies episode George lent his captivating voice to. Things I remember forever.
I grew up on reruns of Star Trek and enjoyed his acting. I was surprised and glad to see him on an episode of The Big Bang Theory with Katie Sackoff and their back and forth banter. When I heard that he collaborated on a graphic novel about his and his family's life in the internment camp, I went out and bought. I found it very moving and gave me a much better understanding of the home front events during the Second World War.
george takei is an ABSOLUTE FIRST CLASS HUMAN BEING! ...and one of the MOST INTELLIGENT and FUNNIEST PEOPLE in the world! ☺
You have 4 names. That's all I need to know about a pretentious phony. Lived on Trek residuals and never did anything after that of note. And a sexual predator. Yeah , he's great.
Appreciate ya'll making the effort to correct an error so quickly.
This is partly why the Graham Norton show is the GOAT of late night!
What was the error?
@@hrs2044 They misspelled Takei's last name both in the thumbnail & in the title as Tekai or something but they QUICKLY fixed it. A lesser show would've left a glaring omission on the title but this team is awesome in quickly handling it.
@@AlMoSiCe210 Got it, clearly the headlines are not written by trek fans lol
@@AlMoSiCe210 Maybe Arte Lange has a new gig as TGNS video uploader? :)
Loooooove George! Love you Captain Sulu! Especially when you’re on Howard, you and Bradder are great examples of a loving relationship for so many people.
I love it when he's on Howard.
One of my favorite people in the world that I actually did get to meet even if just for a moment.
This is an awesome story! I've always loved George. The "OH MY" will make a great notification mp3. 😀👍🏻😉
That's a great story! Love this!
George is such a legend :)
Short video, but one of the most awesome I've seen in a long time. Great story!
National Treasure ❤️🔥
He was hilarious on I'm a celeb. He looks great
Takei is a legend!!
*hears the origin story* Oh my! XD Truly, George Takei is a global treasure. ^^
I love him with all my heart
This Graham Tornton show is great!
You're fishing for somebody to tell you that you spelled Graham Norton's name wrong so you can proudly point out that George Takei's name is also spelled wrong.
@@sstills951 I'm not fishing at all, it's too obvious so no one would bite, just commenting on the bad spelling😁

I'm glad I watched this clip. I was planning on finding the first time he ever said it because I assumed it was a line for one of his roles.
What a hilarious story!
I love this story. TY George....and Howard.
OH MY.
That is a classic!!
i just luv that story
What a simple story but told so well
It's spelled Takei, so I hope that gets fixed in the title and description...
Awwwww he's so sweet.
I just said "Oh My" by accident.😆😆😆
It was something Billy West picked up on when he would do an impression of him. It really was more to do with George having a different speaking voice than his acting. It wasn't any particular time he said it because he said it a lot.
so another legend came up with that catch grace.
I remember the episode of Stern! One of the great moments in Stern show history!
This is brilliant 😂😂!!
i love Uncle George! i have his OH MY! on my Follow alert XD
He did the thing.
I'm straight as an arrow, but I just love George. I wish he had done more stuff.
It was so sad how the American government treated him and his family, along with so many American Japanese in WWII, but he has now become an American icon. When he passes so many communities will mourn.
Such a great guy.
About the 4th version. Phony sex molester.
What a great story! 😂
My fave episodes with Stern is when Takei is on. Radio gold!
Oh my, that's hilarious!
thankyou for sharing this 🙂

Glad to see you finally corrected the spelling of his name.
George seems like a really good guy. Big fan.
Luv u so much. Always go out with a laugh. Peace and 😘
I didn’t know this. This is a fun piece of trivia.

George came to my acting class one day! He said “Oh my!”
What a bit of history. I adore that oh my so much I got the cologne and have it as a ring tone.
Aw I like that there friends
Great story!
The man is an international icon... you guys should probably learn to spell his name correctly. It's Takei.
Icon? Look up the bitter comments he had to say about the actually iconic actor from Star Wars.
@@rebelraccoon9018 You have it backwards, cupcake... It was Shitner who started it all. He was, (and still is) a Prima Donna who manhandled the limelight away from the rest of what was intended to be an ensemble cast. Why is it acceptable for Shitner to be an arsehat, but not acceptable for George to call him out on it?
That's _wonderful._
George looks pretty dam good for a guy his age.
That’s fantastic 🤣👍
What a treasure!
I like his voice, he has very classy voice
God just sent the best guest to graham Norton. Can't wait to see the episode.
The Howard Stern Show is now on SiriusXM and no longer censored by the US government. He is hilarious and I try to never miss the show.
George is legendary when uncensored. Howard is outrageous by US prude standards, but Stern, Norton, Clarkson, they’re cut from the same cloth & tell it like it is.
Oh my... royalties!
I love George! Damn, we're getting old!
A spontaneous response, that was 100 percent real, in response to, uhm, 'crassness' :D
Nice to see George again! Editor might want to take a look at his surname though.
I love George Takei . . . such a wonderful gregarious loving person . . . i couldn't imagine his world but love when he shares bits with us and i hope he knows just how endeared he is to EVERYONE on this planet. . . i know his current focus of equality makes him seem 'sided' and opposite many people and their issues i just hope he realizes that absolutely everyone loves that man and his husband is a gem as well. i wish him long life, great love and infinite happiness he truly deserves it all having blessed us these many years with his presence. bless you georgi we
Met George at Timewarp Convention Malahide 1993. He was gracious, fun & full of beans! Had an awkward meeting with him on the first day & he caught me off guard. The next day, getting the autographs he hushed the very full room & told everyone there about it. Suddenly everone was laughing. Except me! Priceless! Pray I wil meet him again.
If your name is Kevin, you need to watch the episode of Community he narrated, there’s a gift at the end for you from George
Cowabunga! Oh My lol some boy 👍
I never knew that story, so funny. Totally makes sense that it would happen on Howard's show. The funniest show was the Belinda Carlisle stocking negotiation.
George Takein: Making the world a better place, one Oh My at a time 🙂
