- We head to the home of the historic hatmaker to witness the 52-stage process that has barely changed in a century.
The name may no longer be universally familiar, but there was a time when this 160-year-old company was synonymous with fine gentlemen’s fedoras. At its peak, in the first half of the 20th century, Borsalino was crafting in excess of two million hats per year and employing 3,000 people. It dominated the market to such an extent that the word “borsalino” even appeared in the Oxford English Dictionary as a noun used to describe “a man’s wide-brimmed felt hat”. It made it into the movies, too.
If you’ve watched Casablanca, you’ll have seen Hollywood legend Mr Humphrey Bogart wearing a Borsalino fedora. If you’ve watched Borsalino, a 1970 gangster film starring Messrs Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo, which was named after the hat-maker at Mr Delon’s request, then you’ll have seen plenty of them.

I have 2 Borsalino hats. One is in ivy cap with beautiful multicolored tweed, and the other is a $1,000 Beaver felt hat. So classic and gorgeous. Wear with my Stefano Ricci suit and Brioni overcoat, wow!

My granpa used to wear Borsalino. He's been dead for like 20 years now but we still have the hats.

The video is beautiful, as is the product...the subtitles are washed out by the video though, making it difficult to read. How about a black bar along the bottom of the video for the subtitles to sit, making it easier to read and tunderstand? Just a thought.

Imagine wearing clothes that have the brand name on them in large letters.
The price💲 does not make sense there competition isn't at these prices and use same materials the fact there Italian made doesn't mean it always should be so expensive we know what it costs to make hats not a fan of a huge gold leaf logo on the side of a hat the visible stitching and there quite thin so they curl up in the rain i want mine custom made 🎩 not the comeback from bankruptcy 🏦 I expected from borsalino disappointed 🧐
Borsalino kind of went to shit. Not all Borsalino's are created equal, especially after the bankruptcy. Crippled with debt they lowered quality while raising prices. That was the end of caring about Borsalino, for me.
Perhaps they have returned to the kind of quality that used to be represented by Borsalino.
In fact, Borsalino was turning out lower quality higher priced hats about the time this video was released.
The quality of your borsalino will depend partly on when it was manufactured

Bardzosz yeah they’re cool and all but nobody wears them except neckbeards. Such a shame.
Almost bankrupted in 2015 after the owner at that time pulled them into debt. He was later arrested, accused of fraudulent business activities. The company was sold to an Italian-Swiss investment fund last year. I hope they will remain true to their heritage.
Fedoras are definitely on the rebound. If you like them and have the confidence,then wear one. I do!
