The Last Jedi Luke - "My nephew got a bad dream, I'm gonna kill him while he is sleeping". You could argue that this was Luke taping into the darkside himself but still, it was stupid and unnecessary, there were better ways to handle and explain Ben turn to the darkside.
@@jameswrhymer So your argument is that Luke was naïve in trying to save his father..... but uhh.... it worked? He was right. Why exactly would he walk away from that story having learned "Next time I'll just kill them right away." as the lesson? If anything he learned to always believe in redemption and to hold onto hope. So John hates the prequels clearly lol. I actually prefer the prequels, even Attack of the Clones, to the sequel trilogy because even those are better made movies, the story is horrendously bad. There is little to no continuity whatsoever in the sequel trilogy and often what happened in one movie was completely contradicted by another movie. While not the best movies mades, no one can argue that the overall story in the prequels and each of the movies is top tier. My list would be: 1. A New Hope 2. Revenge of The Sith 3.The Empire Strikes Back 4. Return of the Jedi 5. Rogue One 6. The Phantom Menace 7. The Force Awakens 8. Attack of The Clones 9. Solo 10.The Last Jedi 11. Long time fan here, John, I hardly ever comment, but after all these years, I still love it when you get passionate about Star Wars! At our house Star Wars will always be on our mind because my daughter, my firstborn, was born on May the 4th 2017. So we will always celebrate on Star Wars Day (and at least I also celebrate Star Wars that day 😂)
I just watched Attack of the Clones again today. This movie gets way too much hate. I thought it was great. Other than a bit of cheesy dialogue and love story, what else is there to hate really? You have a great chase scene with Anakin and Obi-Wan through the city The scenes with Obi-Wan and Jenga Fett and fight scene and chase (love those seismic charges) Introduction of Count Dooku played by Christopher Lee The scenes where Anikan gets back his Mother The scene with Padme and Anikan through the factory Very cool fight scene in the stadium and extends with larger fight scene with more Jedi joining in. Battle in the air after the stadium fight. Obi-Wan and Anikan vs. Dooku and then Yoda vs Dooku which was amazing There was very limited Jar Jar which was a good thing The humor added with C-3PO was so much better than the stupid humor with Jar Jar in The Phantom Menace The action scenes and CGI was much improved over Phantom Menace Hayden Christensen gives a very good performance in my opinion, other than a bit of cheesy dialogue (not his fault). There's a lot of range in his performance imo. Am I missing anything? It's maybe not quite as good as Revenge of the Sith but Attack of the Clones is far superior to The Phantom Menace in my opinion. Anyway, I like it a lot more.
Every. SIngle. Time. He says "I love democracy, I love the Republic, these emergency powers you have granted me I will lay down when this crisis has abated." That one line alone makes Attack of the Clones better than any sequel trilogy film. That one line makes me feel something every single time, which is more than the sequels have accomplished.

As a trilogy yes because 2 different visions, that of jj and rian, as Kathleen Kennedy failed in her responsibilities to help create a whole narrative for the trilogy in which each movie is supposed to flow together as carry over themes, concepts and ideas which the sequels do not do as they contradict and overrule each other, while the prequels succeed as a trilogy because each movie carries over the same ideas and characters while progressing the story from a to z. But the prequels are worse films because they have directing, writing and acting, and attack of the clones is unwatchable.

If you think the Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi was the original trilogy Luke, you need to take that up with Mark Hamil, because he doesn't agree with that. Mark calls the character from the Last Jedi "Jake Skywalker".

Last Jedi WILL age better than any sequel movie by far. it is a genuinely good Star Wars movie in a mixed bag of a franchise. and ROTS is better than TFA.
Hard disagree with you on TLJ. Here's the problem, the film came out over five years ago, and the anger towards the film from half the fan base is even stronger and more fervent today than it was then. Five years have gone by, and every time I think of the last Jedi, I get angrier. That's true for a lot of people. Time has gone by, things should die down, but for the Last Jedi, it hasn't.

I’m amazed by how many people here say Revenge of the Sith is their favorite. It must be due to the age of John’s audience…early/mid 20s to 30 I’m guessing? I’m almost 45, so there probably aren’t many of us older people here. Makes sense though…people who were kids when the prequels came out ended up loving those films as much as my generation loved the OT.
One hundred percent revenge no 1 on my list, saw it as a kid at the cinema everyone dressed up so much nostalgia attached, best battles in any star wars tho to.
The High Ground is an actual, real martial arts tactic: It's much harder to attack when you have to fight against gravity to land a blow, and it's much easier to defend and counter-strike when you have gravity as your friend. It's endorsed by none other than Batman, who once remarked that when faced with superior numbers, move to higher ground. Every single military simulator video game takes note of high ground when calculating attack and defense. As for my own list, I'll keep it brief, The Last Jedi is the worst Star Wars movie, ever, and by a lot. It's all the more frustrating when so many don't understand how it did what I thought was impossible: it fundamentally broke the fandom.
The CORRECT Ranking: 1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. A New Hope 3. Return of the Jedi 4. Revenge of the Sith 5. The Phantom Menace 6. Attack of the Clones 7. Rogue One 8. Solo 9. The Clone Wars Fake Star Wars Movies: 10. The Force Awakens 11. The Rise of Skywalker 12. The Last Jedi

I agree with this, the most amazing movie I've ever seen is The Last Jedi: it accomplished something I was sure was impossible. It broke and destroyed what was a bulletproof IP. Only thing I disliked about Revenge Of The Sith was the lack of explanation for Padme's death. Nobody directly dies from a broken heart. Other than that, it's a near flawless film! It hurts me to see John rank it so low.

Revenge of the Sith is my favorite of all time. I was in middle school and everybody and I mean everybody went to see revenge of the sith. I saw classmates there, friends and family. It was also my 1st starwars I saw on the big screen haha.

Amen! Attack of the Clones is underrated
I am baffled by how the mind of campea and his minions work… sequels shouldn’t even be part of the conversation
@@LazyEyeNZ yeah man! AOTC is awesome and in terms of plot its the best pf the 6 star wars movies

I love how subjective film is. Return of the Jedi was my least favorite out of the original 3
Oh, it’s definitely my least favorite, but I still love it.
Somewhere, in a galaxy far far away, Mauler is having a Stroke hearing John say he'll win a TLJ debate "everytime"

@@alexdean9287 and? Hes still the only one and luke skywalker. If the actor whos been playing luke for 40yrs has trouble with it then thats a problem. If disney comes out of an episode with a pink vader being happy/jolly is that vader?
@@judgeoftruth6058 thats the dumbest take Ive ever heard of. Hamill said in the 80s an older luke would be completely different or on another plane of existence. George's idea was similar to the Luke we got. In fact TLJ luke was great.

John starts by saying he doesnt like doing rankings. Then we see him put Revenge below Last Jedi and Solo. Yeah rankings might not be his strength
The Force Awakens is my personal favorite. Best theater experience I've ever had.
My ranking of all the Star Wars movies and shows that I've watched:
1. Revenge of the Sith
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. A New Hope

My top 3 Star Wars movies. 3rd place. Star Wars Episode 6. 2nd place. Star Wars Episode 5 & coming in 1st place. Star Wars Episode 3.
Put those Star Wars rewatches back on the internet 😭😭 or at least do another rewatch! With you, Kristian, Ellis, Napzok, Reilly & Dennis. I miss that crew!!
I watch them all the time still and the fact that the majority of them were removed from the internet is so disappointing.
Revenge of the Sith is criminally underrated. I think it could very well be the best star wars

@@MatijaHD The clone wars theatrical movie. Not the show
So John hates the prequels clearly lol.
My list would be:
1. A New Hope
2. Revenge of The Sith
3.The Empire Strikes Back
4. Return of the Jedi
5. Rogue One
6. The Phantom Menace
7. The Force Awakens
8. Attack of The Clones

10.The Last Jedi
11. The Rise Of Skywalker
12. The Clone Wars Movie

You have a great chase scene with Anakin and Obi-Wan through the city
The scenes with Obi-Wan and Jenga Fett and fight scene and chase (love those seismic charges)
Introduction of Count Dooku played by Christopher Lee
The scenes where Anikan gets back his Mother
The scene with Padme and Anikan through the factory
Very cool fight scene in the stadium and extends with larger fight scene with more Jedi joining in.
Battle in the air after the stadium fight.
Obi-Wan and Anikan vs. Dooku and then Yoda vs Dooku which was amazing
There was very limited Jar Jar which was a good thing
The humor added with C-3PO was so much better than the stupid humor with Jar Jar in The Phantom Menace
The action scenes and CGI was much improved over Phantom Menace
Hayden Christensen gives a very good performance in my opinion, other than a bit of cheesy dialogue (not his fault). There's a lot of range in his performance imo.
Am I missing anything? It's maybe not quite as good as Revenge of the Sith but Attack of the Clones is far superior to The Phantom Menace in my opinion. Anyway, I like it a lot more.
YES EXACTLY! I fell the same way
Every. SIngle. Time. He says "I love democracy, I love the Republic, these emergency powers you have granted me I will lay down when this crisis has abated." That one line alone makes Attack of the Clones better than any sequel trilogy film. That one line makes me feel something every single time, which is more than the sequels have accomplished.
Return of the Jedi is by far may favourite. I was so glad to get to see it on the big screen last week for the first time

Hot take but all prequals are better then the sequals. Those suck

That was taken by the haters, edited out from the interviews. It was his approach of him understanding Luke now as an Obi-Wan type of character. He loved the film.

Last Jedi WILL age better than any sequel movie by far. it is a genuinely good Star Wars movie in a mixed bag of a franchise.

I 100% agree with you John for putting Return of the Jedi at #1! For all the reasons you give!

Having the last Jedi and Solo above Revenge of the sith!!?
"It's treason then"
I’m amazed by how many people here say Revenge of the Sith is their favorite. It must be due to the age of John’s audience…early/mid 20s to 30 I’m guessing?
I’m almost 45, so there probably aren’t many of us older people here.
Makes sense though…people who were kids when the prequels came out ended up loving those films as much as my generation loved the OT.
Remember a lot of people think they are being cool and edgy when the villains win.

I agree with this, the most amazing movie I've ever seen is The Last Jedi: it accomplished something I was sure was impossible. It broke and destroyed what was a bulletproof IP. Star Wars has made bad movies before and kept on making money regardless. The Last Jedi wasn't a bad movie, the Last Jedi was an insulting movie.
Id put Rise of Skywalker below Attack of the Clones myself. Worst of the live action films.
Debate the Last Jedi with Mark Hammel cause he didn't agree with Ryan Johnson.
He called him a genius during making the film at Star Wars Celebration

2. Star Wars AND Return of the Jedi
3. Rogue One
4. Revenge of The Sith

I only ranked 5 of the ten films because I really don’t like any of the other 5 and therefore I don’t care how they are ranked!
Empire is my favorite because no other movie in cinema history can duplicate or match the audience reaction during that huge reveal scene between Luke and Vader, “I AM YOUR FATHER!!!” 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
And I couldn’t decide which episode I liked better, IV or VI so I just put both @ number 2!
Only thing I disliked about Revenge Of The Sith was the lack of explanation for Padme's death. Nobody directly dies from a broken heart. Other than that, it's a near flawless film! It hurts me to see John rank it so low.
Was prob paid off by Disney.
