The thing I love about this scene is that the older women are tough and capable. They aren’t banging on about mid life markers and they certainly aren’t invisible. They are out having fun and very much in amongst it as I remember them from childhood too. Grand matriarchs of all they surveyed. There’s a lesson here.
Agreed! Especially Liz Fraser who I had a run in with once. I was a petrol pump attendant in my early days and she had an account at the garage. I was a bit overawed to be serving her and accidentally filled her car with diesel instead of petrol. Then, noticing my mistake alerted the manager and they pumped the fuel out. Meanwhile, she showered me with a stream of invective which showed a very good grasp of many of the more basic words in our vocabulary whilst I stood blushing furiously and hanging my head low. She was already late for a meeting and I can't say I blame her at all. After she left the management didn't even fire me. They probably thought that I'd had punishment enough...
Maureen Lipman is & always was such a fabulous actress, it's a shame you don't see Adrienne Pósta much now, great song that should've been released as a single IMO
This was filmed in a pub in Battersea called 'The Pavillion'. It was a basic little place that never changed since this was filmed. Sadly it was demolished in 2021 to make way for...have a guess?...luxury apartments.
These days I just notice, Couples, groups, sat on their mobiles. Sometimes I wonder to myself, maybe they are just texting each other. 😊 I went to my local last Saturday. It was dead £6 a pint. I cried.

@@NickBloomfield 🤩😂
Well said Artemis. Sometimes it seems as if we've gone backwards.
Liz was probably only early 30s in this ...hardly middle aged 😂
She was 38 which in those days was early old age...
Great film that really captures the spirit of ‘68. Good looking b’stard Waterman back in those days !
It was a very iconic film.
Wonderful song, and a classic film - yes, it should have been a single !
Damn right!
Great film.
Indeed!

agreed.
Dead right
I love this film!
It's a proper gritty 60s movie, fantastic actors/actresses..
Great old movie from the swinging 60s.....should have released this as a single
Absolutely!
Adore this bloody brilliant film! ❤️
It is a classic!
Sadly the Pavilion pub has just been demolished. Love this film and soundtrack.
So much history gone. It's happening everywhere...
Brilliant film watched it so many times.
Me too.
Me to great film of the 60s with Dennis waterman great times I'd love to go back there
It's a pity they never released this song as a single featuring the singing voices of Adrienne Posta and Maureen Lipman
Was really disappointed the album only had an instrumental version of it.
Oh heck yes 😍😍😍
A version was issued by The Jigsaw band..not the one who had sky-high..pretty hard to get, but as you say, no release for this version
@@markmiwurdz3992 I didn't realise that. You've just saved me some money. Thanks!
It would be easy to make it happen technically but then there are all the copyright issues...
Adrienne had a fab voice.
Adrienne recorded some singles in the 60's under her real name of Poster. She does have a good voice, and she is a lovely engaging lady..
She did!
❤❤❤ Adrienne ❤❤❤
yep!
Old Maureen lipman was a tidy bit of tackle back then 😂
A wild cat 🐱
I agree 100%

Such a shame.
Lets hope they name it Pavilion apartments. That would be fitting.
I adore this.
It is great!
Love it to bits!
Thanks!
Look at the pubs now..dead holes full of folk sat quiet stuffing their faces with a carvery...the old days were the best..
Pubs are shutting at an incredible rate and their position as the centre of the community has long since gone.

Batersea 1960s go there now its horrendous
Like so many places...
Looked like a dump in 1968 too!
@@johnescolme5066 gritty hardworking folk are sadly lost in time..all there is nowadays are overweight IT keyboard pushers
Isn't it gentrified now?
I like the film that this is from.🤩😊😎🤗
A great film and so iconic of its time.
Let's not forget Jigsaw who were the backing band in this song..
Very True!
Maureen Lipman is also Paula Wilcox's Best Friend
Another good one from back in the day...
Must get around to seeing this film, doesn't Adrienne Posta look like Lulu!
Yes!
Yes, most definitely so! x
