Dear Dave Matthews Band, I felt compelled to share a glimpse of my musical journey that your artistry has profoundly shaped. It was your performance at Woodstock '99 that introduced me to the magic you create. Back then, a novice left-handed drummer, I found a kindred spirit in Carter Beauford, your remarkable drummer. His unique approach to playing resonated deeply, a connection I cherished. In a time when the internet was a luxury and my music exposure was limited to IRC, your music became my sanctuary. Now, at 40, as I immerse myself in your melodies every few days, that same excitement from 1999 washes over me. Your presence in my life has defined the true essence of music. Your harmonies taught me not only about musicality but also about the feelings of freedom, the strength of individuality, and the endless possibilities that come with believing in oneself. Your existence has given my musical journey its meaning. Anticipation builds within me for those exceptional 'Tripping Billies' live recordings. Each concert brings a new layer of beauty, a different facet of your brilliance. For this, I'm profoundly grateful. I want you to know that your music has woven a tapestry of freedom, health, and success in my life. I extend my sincerest wishes for your ongoing musical ventures that touch lives and hearts. Here's to Dave Matthews Band - the architects of my soul's musical sanctuary. With heartfelt gratitude,
I can completely relate. I lost my virginity to the ugliest girl I’ve ever seen in my life, in the back of a 1994 silver Volvo 740 station wagon (turbo) to this song. The windows were fogging up, and Dave’s crooning, with Carter’s unbelievable percussive dominance gave me the courage to find myself there in that moment. As “tripping Billies” gave way to “proudest monkey” I realized then and there, that I too, could not be more proud of the life I had built. There in that Volvo (turbo), the universe shrank before me, and with the power of DMBs absolute sonic transcendence, I became. God bless you, and your beautiful family @karedalga.
Congrats to Dave and Carter for getting inducted into the hall tonight. When I get off work at the plant, you all best believe I’m getting home, getting the sludge off, and plowing my beautiful wife while Dave croons softly in the background. God bless
Just when You think they can’t add another layer, someone else shows up to the party, but fits in perfectly, as though the seat was already at the table and we never noticed someone was missing. Love them all.
You've named my two favorite drummers, but they are far from the best. Maybe in serving longevity to a band at a high level for decades, but there are many drummers out there that could easily be named so. All about preference, of course...
When I was in college at VCU (Richmond, VA) 1989, DMB played a 1000 patron capacity club in Shockoe Bottom called the Flood Zone every Wednesday night!! Cost at the door... $5 Having the memories of being part of the DMB experience before they conquered the world... Priceless!!!! T.B. was the encore every night!! The energy of that song is still BRUTAL... But back then, it was otherworldly! Haven't seen them live since the last Wednesday show they did in RVA... I have always believed they were just a notch or two above most musical acts, famous or not... The magic for me as a musician was the intimacy of that venue and every time was like the first time... My own personal DMB Groundhog Day 😁
Carter is unreal on those drums... Man do I miss Leroi tho... such a great talent they had to get 2 to replace him and they still don't seem to be able to replicate his sound and uniqueness
true musician. I have a dvd of his solo stuff somewhere from 20 years ago. this guy is smart..As a musician myself, I can tell he doesn't want credit or fame. As long as the bills are easily paid, he is living the dream playing with one of the biggest bands ever.. just suit up, show up.
Tyler Bogda while I agree with this and would love to go to every show this summer, I hate to say summer 2020 has probably been officially canceled lmao
I've been going to DMB shows for nearly 30 years. They work hard but they really appear to have a great time performing as well. It amazes me how well Dave's voice has held up over the years
I don’t know what hits me shock😮😮😮 Carter Beauford and Leroy is like they are being possessed by their own selves at their prime, they have so much energy and play with so much fun!!!
I have Long since left my DMB influence but I swear looking back on the songs from their first 4 albums they are truly one of the most unique bands ever - more so displayed in this video is Dave's guitar style - it has always presented somethiing new to me - he is an inventor of chords
Love how dave just let them loose with the "take em out boy" normally he controls every little thing that happens and wants it all perfect but he knew what was going on here
I was supposed to go to this show but I ended up starting a new job in Delaware - it was on a Wednesday night. I’m no longer with that company. I still missed the show. I still haven’t found a Time Machine. Why does iOS want to capitalize Time Machine? lol
Byłem wtedy już w UK. Nie przeżyje tego koncertu! czemu mnie tam nie było?! Występ nie do zapomnienia. Fantastyczna forma zespołu. Tego nie da się opisać. I ten utwór stary, ten utwór nokautuje.! 👌😃
To Carter Beauford ..... Hands down By far one of the greatest drummers to ever walk the face of this earth!!!!!! Thank you for your endless inspiration to me as a drummer! for years I have played Left handed but can never play on a left handed set up! SO I play traditional right Handed open playing thanks to watching you continously! Ive also tried switching my ride cymbal over to my right side! which has improved my techniques and playing so much!!!!!!! LOOK foward to seeing you all in July!
Coffin(FLECKTONES!)Reynolds,Ross(YerbaBuena) shit, it was the dudes over behind lord carter rockin this tune. and them some pretty sick chords DM be progressinin
I think we need to start a petition to get Dave to bring Boyd back. Literally no one cares that he sniffed someone's dirty socks or whatever the fuck the story was lol
@@duboseq1 Don’t get me wrong, they’re all amazing musicians, but I refer to this band as “Carter Beaufort and those other guys”, cause he is the attraction for me!
Eh there were a few feeling it. DMB have a very distinct Americana sound that doesn't connect well over there in many places. I spent a month in England once and introduced so many ppl to it and most ppl just weren't feeling it much similar to how lots of English music I didn't connect with. It's fine. They all did admit the musicianship was impressive however.
Anyone still rocking their brains out to this song in 2023??
I'm rocking my brains out to this song in 2024!!!
2024 buddy!
2024
Douche.

What a life Booker T has led. WWE Heavyweight Champion and violinist for a hit band.

Wait what?
1:54: Carter is probably the only drummer who can do this on the chorus of a song and not get fired.
Carter is such a musical beast. He don't get the credit he deserves. ATRUE musician.
saw them july this year. carter is undoubtedly top tier

sorry...forgot to mention, Carter is a beast
He is that good, I can't even play air drums
3:44 is definitely my favorite part. My favorite song of theirs
I was at this show it was so good! This was the last song of the night. My first DMB show!
Fiddle dude though!!!!!!! 🙌
Fucking mind blowing.....
That is having fun and knowing what you do
Beauford. Pure genius.
5:40 lts go baby , insane

Each of them deserves a HUGE respect. Especially drummer!
He's a big Billy Cobham fan.
How many bands work this hard during EVERY show they play? Very few is the answer.

That Drumming is insane 😮
BillY Cobham disciple.
I love playing this song (on drums)
When the live version is better than the original.
Fucking true....!!!
...means we got something special!!!
ALWAYS & LOVE IT
It speaks volumes about the musicians..
That's Dave Matthews Band for you
Carter is killing it on this tune
i was lucky enough to be there at the Brixton Academy. 3 hours of it just wasn't enough!
If the drummer is the engine of the band. Carter is literally a Super performance V12.
Perfect
I don’t know what hits me shock😮😮😮 Carter Beauford and Leroy is like they are being possessed by their own selves at their prime, they have so much energy and play with so much fun!!!
Proof of the Divine. True greatness.
How many brains does Carter have? My Godness!!!
Perhaps their funnest song to play and my personal favorite of the Dave Matthews Band.
Monster, monster, monster!!!!
Love the Lost in Space riff.
This is a super cool band Dave Matthews such great musician. The drummer it's a killer
GOT DAMN this was good as hell
Man these guys are tight

If you could not feel this. Music is not for you.. I don't care who you are. This was dope..🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 one of my favorite bands. ✊🏾
DMB you've been my fuel so many times. Just need to thank you.
Love how dave just let them loose with the "take em out boy" normally he controls every little thing that happens and wants it all perfect but he knew what was going on here
Boyd
He says "check em out, BOYD"... because the violin player's name is Boyd... aka "dirty sock sniffer"
What a great live performance of this song!

Carter keeps you on your toes! Definitely changes it up from the recording!

Taylor Hawkins loved Carter’s style!
Carter is great, plain & simple, his drumming is amazing!

One of the best live performances ever.Should have two bass drums when playing double bass.
Is that Booker T on violin haha

Neil Pert may he rest in peace was a amazing drummer. However Carter Beauford is the best drummer I have ever heard!!!
Being a Drummer ... I have to agree.... Carter is in Top 3 of all time....!!!!!!!
Total beast! He is one of my three favorites. Danny Carey and Darren King from Mute Math being the others.

Hands down. THE BEST. But I feel like he usually doesn't get the credit he deserves.
💃
Can anyone hear the cell phone go off at minute marker 6:05 -6:08 ? Ring does not blend with chord being played. Does not sound like keyboard.
It's a tough call between this and
"Two Step"
When you think you can play then you watch DMB and realise you can’t
Where exactly in Europe is this performance from?
1:54-2:10
Who replaced Boyd tinsley?
top
Wonder!!! This music joy
En esta cancion NO encuentro al Carter Beafourd que grabo el Under the Table and Drumming.
Aye guys where is this, Manchester?, Uk?
London I think.
Lucca, Italy!
And the legend says that, being in Tuscany, they ate drank and were quite merry before the concert
Brixton
DMB has the BEST performances in front of the WORST crowds when in Europe.

Jesus, Carter..
get Boyd back!
God I miss Boyd
Pardon Boyd. Bring him back.
DM always has the look )f "Man, I'm way more fucked up that you Party look"
As amazing as Carter is on drums, I hate his punchy snare in this performance. It needs his signature crisp snap sound.
