Ahsoka struggled to see Anakin as anything but Vader, just as she struggled to see herself as anything more than a child soldier, resigned to forever bear the burden of failing her master and losing so many. Sabine called out her stoic demeanor - asked her if she was even living anymore. By the end of the vision, she was reminded that Anakin is more than Vader, just as she was more than a fallen Jedi. She had to choose to live, and the renewed energy eventually led her to opening up to the Purgill. This is Star Wars baby Also…shout out Quyen Tran for the photography
I have been trying to explain this to those who have said that they are portraying Ahsoka as boring. She is not the brash child padawan or hot-headed teenager. You are also right that she has had that struggle with all the lives lost and being a child soldier. From the Clone Wars to the Rebellion she has known only a warrior's life. Her choosing to live was more than just choosing to survive.
Not quite. Ahsoka struggled with the GUILT of leaving Anakin when he was so vulnerable. She blamed herself for Anakin turning to the Darkside. Ahsoka also blamed herself for the troops that died under her watch. That is why Anakin took her to a mission in early part of the Clone Wars where Ahsoka went against Anakin's orders. As a result, several 501 troopers died. She was traumatized ever since. Then she was in the Seige of Mandolore. Where the entire weight of her being responsible for her troops was nearly unbearable. Anakin's lesson was to teach Ahsoka to help her kill her inner demons. And that included facing Anakin as Vader (that is why she kept seeing him that way). Anakin wanted Ahsoka to confront and defeat Vader. To kill one of her biggest inner demons. That is why Anakin was happy to see her defeat Vader. Because it meant that she was ready to let go of the past and start living.
This episode addressed a lot of the issues i've had with the live action portrayal of Ahsoka so far. Ahsoka was never this stoic and melancholy, even after learning of Anakin becoming Vader(see Rebels). Of course it makes sense though. But this addresses all of that. Essentially Anakin teaches her to forgive herself for leaving the Order, and that she is indeed more than just a soldier going from one mission to the next.
Hayden is a fan of _The Clone Wars_ so he paid mad respects to it by making sure to play Anakin as we remember him being from the animated show. Gotta love that guy!
They should've dubbed Ashley's voice over young Ahsoka, who looked really weird too, no cosplayer has ever nailed young, skinny Ahsoka, why you don't do that in live action without CGI.

Young Ahsoka was played by Ariana Greenblatt who was also played young Gamora in The Avengers Infinity War. Haden Christensen nailed his role as Anakin well in this episode
I'm glad that Hayden got another chance of playing Anakin and getting the love he always deserved to playing him. It always broke my heart to read how people said he was a bad actor, but he was never a bad actor. People just could never open their minds wide enough to see the big picture about Anakin. He went from never knowing greed because he had everything he needed at the time which was love, his mother's love. They took him from that world and told him "you aren't allowed to be attached to anyone." In the books he kept wanting to return to Tatooine to see if his visions about his mother were true or just nightmares, but no one would listen to him. They only called them "dreams." Even Obi-Wan told him "Dreams pass in time." He lost his mother literally in his arms as she tried to tell him "I love you." He didn't want to lose Padme the only other person he truly loved and cared for and because of the fear of losing her, he lost her anyways because his love was distorted into greed. Hayden did amazingly well playing a character that is emotionally tortured and I love that he got a second chance to being Anakin.
He was literally the most powerful Jedi to ever exist. Not even Luke was able to get to his level. If he was never burned, and kept all of his limbs, nobody would have been able to stop him. The only reason Obi-Wan bested him was because of Anakin's greed and overconfidence. If he was never burned he 100% would have been able to kill Palpatine and usurp control of The Empire.
@@flochforster6892 Not just his overconfidence. Obi-Wan *knew* Anakin on a level no one else did. I think Yoda knew that, and knew only Obi-Wan was going to be able to defeat him. That's why he sent Obi-Wan to battle Anakin at Mustafar, despite Obi-Wan's clear attachment to his former Padawan that could potentially get in the way. I think Yoda doubted even he himself could defeat a fallen Anakin Skywalker.
I love how every time Carson is just ride or die no matter what. Like "What's that, your kid's dad was a space wizard and he can hear laser swords in the sea? Ok. After seeing Ahsoka having a moment of catharsis with her master, and letting go of her guilt and pain to more fully embrace the Light Side, Rosario Dawson now truly has become the Ahsoka we remember from Clone Wars! I loved how this episode showed the more of the fact that Ahsoka was sadly both a Jedi AND a child soldier. What’s more is that while while the Jedi were taught to not form attachments to people, she and her master clearly cared for not just their men but their friends and family. And while Anakin failed and fell to the Dark Side because he couldn’t let go of those he loved, Ahsoka succeeded and not only learned to let go and move on, she has now risen and has now become tied with Luke Skywalker for me as the greatest Jedi of life time. This is also easily the best performance Hayden has ever given as Anakin, he actually felt more like Anakin from the Clone Wars than the movies. I honestly never thought I would see LIVE ACTION scenes of Clone Wars, or even Hayden in Anakin’s Clone Wars armor!
When I first watched this episode last night, my jaw dropped when I saw Anakin and Ahsoka in their Clone Wars uniforms as well as seeing Captain Rex for a little. This episode is one of the most memorable episodes ever made in this show! Thank you Filoni, Lucasfilm, and Disney! 😊❤️
So in the first Clone Wars flashback, I noticed it was from the Battle of Teth that was seen in the 2008 Clone Wars movie where Ahsoka made her first ever appearance. The second flashback scene, which I initially thought was the 2nd battle of Geonosis from the Clone Wars show, was actually of the Battle of Ryloth from season 1 as we see several twilek freedom fighters around (also if you look closely, you can see a phase 1 armored Captain Rex). The final flashback/vision was of course the Seige of Mandalore and we see a phase 2 armored Rex and 332nd troopers as well as mandalorian super commandos which was beautifully done. Something else I noticed was Anakin using the red lightsaber. I believe this was a direct easer egg to the original ROTS script where the newly christened vader was going to use a red lightsaber during the duel against Obi-Wan on Mustafar. The reason Anakin didnt have a red lightsaber for the Duel on Mustafar was due to the fact that it wouldve been difficult to see because of the lava and such (which was eerily similar to why Luke used a green lightsaber in ROTJ instead of blue, because of the sky in that case). Also i think it was a nod towards the PS2 ROTS game with the alternative ending where Anakin killed Obi-wan and Palpatine. Finally, as soon as I saw and knew Jacen using his abilities it made me wonder...what if Ezra comes back and trains him to be a Jedi?

One thing I loved about this episode is the fact that Ahsoka is finally calling herself a Jedi, after her transformation as Ahsoka the White. It's a first! That happened when she talked to Jacen and refers to their ship as a "Jedi starship". She finally accepts the title and consider herself a Jedi. What a great character arc with her!
It's official. Ahsoka has been trained by both Anakin Skywalker at his absolute best & Vader at his most powerful self. She is light and dark in equal measure. She's a true Jedi Knight.
We know that Force users can meditate into the WBW, Dave Filoni confirmed that Ezra meditated into it way back in S1 when he received his kyber crystal from Yoda. Not to mention the Daughter was the key to opening the WBW in Rebels and the Daughter’s life force is the reason Ahsoka is alive. So it was definitely in her mind but it was also the WBW.

Make Dave Filoni to Star Wars what Kevin Fiege was/is to Marvel. Also, I don't know how many people will notice it, but that "I won't fight you" and "I've heard that before" is DEFINITELY A REFERENCE TO RETURN OF THE JEDI!!!!!!!!
6:41 the "I've heard that before" is a reference to Luke saying "I will not fight you father" in Return of the Jedi, Ahsoka never said that to him she said she wouldn't leave him again but not I will not fight you.
Ahsoka was under water for hours and she didn't drown? THAT is some serious _plot-armor_ Not surprised, really. Disney can do that and make dumb people believe it's a gOoD episode.
I met Hayden in passing at the Star Wars celebration in Anaheim Ca. Heck of a nice guy he stopped me to laugh and comment on my cosplay. He was happy that Anakins was fully explained in The Clone Wars and it helped in stopping a lot of the hate from the fan base as he love being Anakin.
This was truly anakin and truly not just a dream, anakin was concious of not knowing where a battle was, and also said “I’ve heard that before” in reference to something luke told him, which Ashoka could not have known, and Ashoka did not show up on a radar proving her to not be in that realm and in the real world between worlds
Their legacy starting with Yoda, then Dooku, Qui Gon, Kenobi, Anakin and Ahsoka brought about death and destruction from each member. All of them had a role to play in destroying the Jedi and allowing the Sith to rule intentional or not.
@Dos Cavazos, 18:12 Kacee, regular Hyperspace isn't instantaneous, you know? Depending on where they're jumping in the galaxy Star Wars takes place in, it could take them minutes or several hours to get to their destinations. Like the whales of our world that migrate from ocean to ocean the planet over, so too do the Purrgil, but from galaxy to galaxy--Ahsoka explained last episode that the Hyperspace lanes were charted by using the routes the Purrgil used, which means for a time they had the technology to follow and keep up with the Purrgil while they traveled within a galaxy. The Purrgil likely travel tremendously fast, still their trips aren't going to be instantaneous. I figure we won't see them come out of Hyperspace immediately next week but after a couple minutes of Huyang and Ahsoka talking on their ship. It'll be interesting to see the other galaxy's appearance, but I wouldn't expect too much. We know from Hubble and the James Webb telescope what other galaxies look like now, and they look a lot like the one we live in.
If you look at how she looks without her headband and the first Ahsoka episode of Tales of the Jedi (the baby!Ahsoka episode), and you will see it looks reasonably like that.
I just know Hayden had to be so ecstatic being able to put on Anakin's Clone Wars armor. I just know he has to be so happy being able to return to this character again. He's fully melded with Matt Lanter's Anakin at this point for me. I
17:31 This is an opportunity for Dave Filoni to expand on the lore. Perhaps in this other galaxy, there are forces more evil and more powerful than Thrawn.
It is really Anakin and it's really happening. Ahsoka: "I'm not going to fight you" Anakin: "I've heard that before" That directly referenced Luke in Episode 6 and Ahsoka wouldn't have known that. Then Anakin didn't recognize the Siege of Mandalore.
The fact that she defeated anakin using the sith dark Saber & keeping her jedi form was something mind blowing....& yes! Anakin is keeping balance in force...reason he can transcend both sides so easily
I've been assuming that the hyperspace ring is so big so it can dock with Thrawn's Star Destroyer that he was on when he was taken to the other galaxy. Ordinary ships can't make hyperspace jumps between galaxies, but this way it could bring Thrawn back with his ship.
Imagine spending your entire LIFE just watching TV shows and movies, playing video games, and basically doing NOTHING with your life, and getting paid for it.
The reaction to Huyang explaining Jason's abilities to Carson, just "ok". Literally everyone that didn't see Rebels. Also the "Mortise arc better then all of the sequel trilogy", true and real, sadly. I love the honesty. Hater's can't be reasoned with. You both always offer a pretty balanced take on character development. The fact Mortis is heavily referenced in this episode reminded me of how great that arc was.
As someone said over on funnylilgal's reaction, it wasn't Jacen that kept Hera from going to another galaxy. Hera couldn't expose another galaxy to the menace that is Chopper.

Also, I don't know how many people will notice it, but that "I won't fight you" and "I've heard that before" is DEFINITELY A REFERENCE TO RETURN OF THE JEDI!!!!!!!!
This show continues to impress
the ahsoka/Anakin scenes were among the best star wars has to offer. I really wished they showed us much more scenes like this...
Jacen heard them so it wasn't a dream, Anakin was definitely involved somehow.
When they first land in Clone Wars flashbacks, the music playing is "burying the dead" from the last episode of Clone Wars pitched down :(
You all know the crying Jerry the mouse meme?
That’s ALL of us rn 🥹😭😭😭🤣
This episode was just pure sugar! The transitions between Anakin and Vader were made so very well - loved it!
I think this was through the force, Anakin speaks dialogue which Ahsoka could've never known like "I've been told that before"
Also jacen sensed it so i would say it was a real interaction not just in her head
6:41 the "I've heard that before" is a reference to Luke saying "I will not fight you father" in Return of the Jedi, Ahsoka never said that to him she said she wouldn't leave him again but not I will not fight you.
i know theres really nothing else to do with anakin besides force ghost stuff but i actually need so much more, hayden still nails it perfectly.
Such a revelation to see him with good writing and direction.
Ahsoka was under water for hours and she didn't drown?
THAT is some serious _plot-armor_
Not surprised, really. Disney can do that and make dumb people believe it's a gOoD episode.
Dave makes me cry everytime he has ahsoka and anakin together
That *was* Vader she was fighting at the end. Anakin became Vader BEFORE he got BBQ'd.
this episode was so gooodddd dave filoni is definitely a genius
Anakin has Mastered both the Light and Dark side of the force. Thus bringing "Balance to the Force"
People often say when you're dying you will see your entire life before passing away AND have get to have the chance to fight back and choose to live.
This simply wasnt an "episode", it was directly a 50mins movie :3
When he says I’ve heard that before…i immediately thought of Luke saying he would not fight Vader.
This show is everything Kenobi wished it could’ve been
Their legacy starting with Yoda, then Dooku, Qui Gon, Kenobi, Anakin and Ahsoka brought about death and destruction from each member. All of them had a role to play in destroying the Jedi and allowing the Sith to rule intentional or not.
12:21 The details!! Ahsoka's clone trooper behind her
I mean Jacen hearing light sabers in the water should be an indicator that it wasnt in Ahsokas head, so maybe world between worlds?
I had a feeling that she also played young Gamora....she was great!
“Harry of course this is all happening in your head, but who’s to say that it is not real”
@Dos Cavazos,
18:12 Kacee, regular Hyperspace isn't instantaneous, you know?
We have Ahsoka the White now, baby!
love how Hayden uses the lightsaber. he looks so legit!!!
the siege of Mandalore is the only time Ahsoka has used blue lightsabers
Filoni will make history if he makes a live action clonewars someday.
The way she was so much happier at the end of the episode, literally dressed in white, I’m gonna lose my sh**
this is a Gandalf the Grey BECOMING GANDALF THE WHITE moment for Ahsoka
did anyone catch kacee's "earlier-ly" at the 10:12-10:13 mark? hahahaha
Hayden is a beast with a lightsaber. Dude got all the moves :)
Ezra and Thrawn just chillin, they're both sith now 🍻
Hayden's lightsaber skills are just something. I would consider him to be the only actually existing Jedi Master. 😄
We finally get to see Lord Vader without his armor, how Anakin would've turned up if he didn't lose to Obi Wan
It is really Anakin and it's really happening.
Ahsoka: "I'm not going to fight you"
Anakin: "I've heard that before"
That directly referenced Luke in Episode 6 and Ahsoka wouldn't have known that.
This was Fan Service ep. Thank you Dave!!!! 20/10
Imagine spending your entire LIFE just watching TV shows and movies, playing video games, and basically doing NOTHING with your life, and getting paid for it.
Tony Gilroy and Dave Filoni can have the entire Star Wars IP.
Hayden was at 10% of his real lightsaber skills
Hayden being clone wars Anakin a young Ashoka and Captain Rex live action made me so happy
Hagrid: "Yer' a master o' death, Snips."
Ahsoka was literally between life and death. It was the world between worlds.
*Fun Fact: The actress who played young Ahsoka played the daughter in Barbie, as well as young Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War*
Fun reaction!!!! Hope you guys keep up the great work!!!!
Great reaction! Cannot wait for Erik Voss' New Rockstars breakdown!!
You weren't here! You were killing younglings🤣😂 best line outta all reactors
