  • European Cup and UEFA Champions League winning managers
From 1956 until 1992, association football players competed in the European Cup. Real Madrid won the first championship in 1956 under the direction of Spanish manager José Villalonga, who did it again the following year. From 1977 to 1982, English clubs and managers won every competition, dominating the league in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Italian managers have won twelve of the championships since 1956, making them the most successful in spite of this.
In 1992, the tournament changed its name to the UEFA Champions League, and French club Marseille won it all thanks to Belgian Raymond Goethals.
The only manager to have won the competition four times is Carlo Ancelotti. Three people have won the competition: Pep Guardiola, Bob Paisley, and Zinedine Zidane. Ancelotti won four titles and advanced to five finals with AC Milan and Real Madrid, Zidane won three straight crowns with Real Madrid, and Paisley guided Liverpool to three titles in five seasons. The championship has been won twice by sixteen other managers. Only six managers have won the championship with two clubs: Ottmar Hitzfeld with Borussia Dortmund in 1997 and Bayern Munich in 2001; Ernst Happel with Feyenoord in 1970 and Hamburger SV in 1983; Ancelotti with Milan in 2003 and 2007 and Real Madrid in 2014 and 2022; Guardiola with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011 and Manchester City in 2023; José Mourinho with Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010; and Jupp Heynckes with Real Madrid in 1998 and Bayern Munich in 2013. Johan Cruyff, Ancelotti, Frank Rijkaard, Guardiola, Zidane, Miguel Muñoz, Giovanni Trapattoni, and Ancelotti are the seven individuals who have won the event as both managers and players.

This year it'll either be Terzic (Dortmund) or Ancelotti for the 5th time (Real)
