I just realized Pete is out in the sun. He doesn't even care if he burns to death anymore. Billy gave him a reason to keep living.
I love this scene,it's practically where the entire show's plot begins.
tuxandashotty no that would be the plane Crash the blue morpho died in
@@moralitiesaspook168 you are correct but I must say for the guild plotline this is the beginning for the entire show it's the plane crash
It's like what Star Wars 3 tried to do, but succeeded.
@@moralitiesaspook168 More like Gargantuan 1 movie night.
My favorite part of this is how it explains how someone so overqualified like Brock works for someone who's enemies with a fucking butterfly
Sketchy Jeff isn't Rusty a level 10 Protagonist tho?
Macho Tach0s he only became level ten after inheriting his brothers fortune
You DARE say the mighty monarch is just a fucking butterfly? You should meet 21
reisjames1 yeah I'm pretty sure at the start of the series he was level 9 because the Monarch was a level 9 villian when he had a henchman Army and a cocoon.
Well you forget Brock was assigned not to just protect Rusty but also O.R.B which is a much bigger deal. It is not explained but I believe Hatred was told to give Brock that assignment as he would be the most reliable to protect the orb, which the Sovereign (active at that time) knew was at the compound. In addition, Phantom Limb explains how Venture was a level 3 threat to the guild. The Monarch was allowed to arch him, despite being a "level 9" because he 1) was a nuisance, 2) didn't follow rules and 3) had enough sway to pick his own arch. Besides the fact, of course, the Monarch was super incompetent.
Probably the most definitive "bad" ending in a episode. The bad guys win pretty much every way. With his deadly appendages Fantomas is now pretty much destined for the Guild; Hatred has successfully squashed any OSI investigation into the Guild and Hunter's reassigned to nowhere, while Brock is stuck on babysitting duty. Not to mention the collateral of Billy Quizboy's life and reputation being utterly wrecked.
Ariel Plaza Ya, but if it wasn’t for that everything that has happened, wouldn’t have happened. So maybe it was for the best
Welcome to reality.
Not to mention around this time it was the Guilds fault for the Pyramid Wars. Jesus, they really did win in every conceivable way.
i mean this show is about Failure
I just wish they showed the clip of Billy on the table finally remembering all of this and attacking Brock.
A cool thing. Where White is at is the exact spot Billy and him parted ways after their fight. White felt so bad after he bought a camper and basically exiled himself to live in the desert(as an albino!) at the exact spot he lost his friend. All in hopes that somehow he would see him again or that Billy would come back there.
Really tragic and how he's been reading that however old magazine just cause Billy is in it. And he kept that Quizboy jacket cause he cared that much. It's honestly really sad to see.
Pete was clearly on a path to suicide before Brock showed up with Billy. The guilt must have been devouring him.
A beautiful, gentle moment where Pete finds a reason to live again.
And he continues to hold Billy back from being a success. If Billy actually got his medical degree he would have been the most innovative and celibrated surgeon alive.
@@nubreed13 People use love as the excuse for horrible things
@@nubreed13 if not for Pete Billy would have been a puppet of the OSI which is likely what Brock was telling him. Pete had to keep Billy hidden.
@@juliandavidhoffer2022 except Billy being forced out of the quiz circuit is Pete's fault. Had he never met Pete he would still have 2 eyes and 2 arms
@@nubreed13 All true. Pete was doing what (little) he could to atone, given the circumstances.
It's just so weird to see a high-ranking OSI officer suddenly turn into a fairly goofy costumed villain.
+BullockDS Don't trust any super-soldier serum.
+flashmozzg Well at least he cannot fall any lower...oh wait, yes he can
Dillon Bullock *I'LL SAY IT AGAIN. LUSH*
@@flashmozzg Yeah, that's why Action Man was a full-blown psycho. Once he got off the sauce, he mellowed out a lot
I mean he stuck with the military theme which made him one of the more serious villains
For a show that started as a spoof of 70s-80s action hero cartoons, Venture bros has astoundingly great background music. The instrumental starting at 1:15 is one of my favorite bits in any show.
And it was just some random licensed track they found! Just like so many 70s and 80s shows.
Weird to think Hatred used to be Brocks boss and he was the one to give him to Doctor Venture.
The punishment dished out to Brock would end up becoming Hatred's own salvation. Poetic, isn't it?
It’s also funny that every time they are around eachother Hatred still talks to him like he’s his boss.
And in the end Hatred was left as security while brock became the most feared member of the osia
It's been a long time so i guess they wouldn't recognize eachother.
@@unchartedknight0193 but Hatred likes his job
This and Operation P.R.O.M are the best ending scenes of the series.
You forgot one.
Also the family that slays together stays together
I am "The Bat".
*'The Billy Quizboy Origin Story, only on The Venture Bros'*
Man, Hatred used to be as built as Brock. Guess the years have really taken their toll on him.
Except Hatred had a super soldier serum to help him get built, Brock is pure effort and genetics
And the lifestyle. Brock kinda let himself go when he was crashing with Steve and Sasquatch.
I wonder how Billys life would have turned out if Brock had taken him to his mother instead
potterinu white would have eventually died of heat exhaustion.
@@Azurepeahen but what of billy
Worse, it would've turned out a lot worse.
Spicystachegamer328 420
How long you think he can breathe in an old gym bag?
Or if he left white and did his own thing...... all of his misfortune is Pete white's fault
Hatred fires Samson
Samson brings white Billy
Hatred Basically joins the guild or was a double agent
Then Samson heads over to doctors venture and the boys
Hatred wanted to stop the OSI from investigating the guild, he was a double agent.
He didn't fire samson he demoted him to the most useless job the osi has..... babysitting a low level arching
i've seen this episode multiple times in the past but im just now realizing that was Hatred. wow
Carllito12 *GAVE HIM MY OLD BASKET OF HOWDY-DO!*
He looks like a different character so i was confused to.
under the ole ego Sgt Haine
Ironic, isn't it? Hatred was a mole for the Guild then lost his way when Tinyfeet abandoned him then he ends up in Brock's old role
Love how Brock instead of bringing the kid back to be served as a guinea pig he made the right decision and brought the kid to someone who actually care about him or would care about him. Also love how it shows behind the scenes how Brocks boss was actually a bad guy and with the guild.
Weren't you paying attention? The guinea pig project was a "mind wiping program". Billy tried to escape but still got his memory wiped.
Ohhhh so thats what that ring was, I never realised
Those flowers on that cactus have a great sense of dramatic timing.
They sprouted New beginnings. Basically everyone's connections with each other
I just now noticed that the albino guy( forget his name) is holding a magazine of billy that says cheater. And that as soon as he sees billy he has a wide smile
I wish we saw more of Hatred’s OSI days, ik he was a traitor but still
0:33 - leaning on table
0:35 - hands behind back
0:36 -leaning on table again
oh... my... god...
He's clearly a pro at chewing people out
Nice catch
So wait a minute that's Sergeant Hatred? Wow he changed a lot over the years. what made him go "super" villian? was he under cover?
+Rule Of Three T.A.G The ring he puts on has the sigil of the GoCI, so yeah, he's a double agent. I think it is implied that he had a hand in discontinuing Gathers investigation of the Guild, the only man who believed it still operated.
So is hatred the original super soldier
@fiddle wasn't hatred's serum a prototype of what action man had? or am I making that up
@@randy312 No, that too was specified in the flashback; on the needle itself, I believe.
Sgt. Hatred’s birth name was Courtney Robert Haine (Haine being French for “Hatred”). After being given the super soldier serum he developed pedophiliac tendencies and was offered a position with the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Of course he would later rejoin O.S.I. at an unofficial capacity and bodyguard Venture with Brock
What the hell is an albino doing sitting reading a magazine in the desert lol
Callum Armour Trying to kill himself.
He was so worried about Billy that he was out in the sun, burning to a crisp. If you watch again you'll see he actually is covered with scabs and burns from being out too long.
Waiting for love or death.
In one episode he literally caught fire when a small portion of his skin was exposed to the sun. Guess he had a higher immunity back then.
Trying to die
is it me, or does phantom limb remind anyone of allan rickman? weird considering david bowie is his rival in later episodes....
+zomb1elvis Quite the coincidence since they both passed away in the same week.
It's ironic that Sgt Hatred got put on baby-sitting duty to Venture, after he was handing it out as a punishment to Brock.
I bet Brock loved that.
Kind of makes me wonder when Hatred was exposed as a double agent.
Maybe after the Pyramid Wars and the Guild came out from the underground there just was no more need for it.
@@InfernosReaper but I thought that the pyramid wars started as a result of SPHINX getting the blame for causing the Movie Night Massacre on Gargantua 1 (possibly Vendata aka the Blue Morpho)? Which was what brought Brock into the OSI. And that happened when Rusty and Brock were roommates in college.
@@RaceTheAce77 I mean, Brock fought in the Pyramid Wars, so it's not that. And since this takes place directly before he goes to work for Doc, then, yeah, this takes place after the Pyramid Wars.
The Pyramid Wars started to cast greater doubt in the Guild of Calamitous Intent's involvement (or possibly, even their existence).
This is also only a few short years after Jonah Venture Sr. held a "negotiation" at his headquarters between the Guild and OSI.
A guild which Gathers and Brock were later blacklisted for believing in.
My point is that the entire timeline and continuity is screwy and doesn't hold up well.
@@weebjeez the meeting between the guild and OSI was fifty years before season seven. So that is some point in the 60s which puts this scene maybe thirty years after it. Pyramid Wars was in the 80s this is the 90s
that ending legit almost made me tear up😢
It's the ending to one of the best episodes of the whole series.
“Your windmill chasing days are over, Sancho Panza” is THE BEST LINE I fucking love this show
Aw, you don’t have my favorite scene: Billy biting Brock’s neck!
I always forget that Sgt. Hatred was Brock and Hunters Boss for a time.
Wait, so Billy still works for OSI in the sense to just have his memory wiped?
He was probably watched to keep track of long term effects of the memory wipe project. Plus at the time the information he knew was pretty sensitive so leaving him alone to possibly remember again was a risk they had to keep a tab on even if it was annoying.
irregulargamer13 Episode start, proves they were right to watch him. He remembered something. Everything.
Db14 Goldilocks, this is Casper. Little Nemo has fallen out of bed
Technically he still works for them at least under Triesters organization. That’s why Brock hid him with Pete.
Pete White hugging Billy while he's sleeping is the best part of this clip, and shows that Pete really does care about him, and not just sponging off him. (Though he's still a sponge).
Beautifully made episode. No need to tell over show, just let the music play and the viewer fills it in.
Jeez Sergeant Hatred really let himself go later down the line
Doesn't help that his no-molestol made him grow boobs
That song
Would you be so kind as to divulge it's name?
I can't find it anywhere. I've even looked for it on the venture Brothers soundtrack and it's nowhere to be found.
@@israeldelosreyes808 Oh no worries! Another comment found it. It's called "Sweet Turtle". It's available on RUclips.
Is that hatred?
1:11 Why would you the ring of the organization you’re really working for while you’re undercover.
I’m starting think Hatred wasn’t a good Guild Member to begin with. And that feels very in character for him to make a mistake like that at any point.
the ring was shaking. it must be some kind of communication link between Haines and the Guild
Why do I have the feeling the "G" in Hamilton G Fantomas is George like George Hamilton?? Both dudes are tanned af
0:20 is that Sergeant Hatred ?
Yep, The OSI wiped his mind thou
Nice Don Quixote reference from Sergeant Hatred!
Best show running after all these years.
Adult Swim cancelled Venture Bros.
It's over.
I completely forgot about Hatred working for the OSI, and this just reminded me and connected the dots on why Brock just straight despises him.
Took me way too long to realize that was a Don Quixote reference
many, I never noticed that it was Sgt hatred
So thats where Phantom Limb came from
The somber music really sells this scene.
The most beautiful ending in the entire series.
Not to be 'that' guy but it was Don Quixote who chased the windmills, not Sancho Panza.
Hatred is stupid.
Chris Bumface he refers to Brock being Gather’s Plus one
What was Hatreds position here? Was he over all of OSI like Tresiter, or just over Hunter and his men?
He was probably above hinger and brock but not as high up as treister. .
emart88 wonder what his rank would have been.
Hatred used to be OSI. That's him.
this scene always makes me cry ;_;
Wait, is that sergeant hatred?
What's that Song?
+Leo Romana If anyone finds out please speak up. :D
"Sweet Turtle" stock music owned by Telepictures Music
Bruce Whitaker two years later 😂 hey better late than never
Very radiohead
Darude Sandstorm
Hatred was brock's senior? then how come brock ignores their history all this time? flawed retroactive continuity.
+Ahsan Siddiqui
I'm guessing its cause brock didn't respect him then and doesn't respect him now.
+Fvalen1 That's somewhat changed this season.
or it could have something to do with the mentioned memory whipe
Why did they make sergeant hatred so weak and incompetent. I thought he was supposed to be a badass, obviously no where near brock but he uses guns and is very big on tanks and what not.
Jack Allen guy got tubby
I love this episode
I didn't even know that was hatred
Sgt. Hatred put the "sergeant" in "drill sergeant"
Are you kidding, Hatred is an emotional mess. Of course this was before his divorce so that's probably why.
1:23
is that a black rusty?
Wait wait. Pete was in the sun!
So when Brock left the room, where was billy?
Getting his memory wiped
That how origins came from.
Was that Sergeant Hatred?
Yes. He's mentioned that he has secrets from "both sides" in later episodes.
Zoras88 *UNTIL YOU PRY HIM FROM MY COLD, DEAD HUGGIN' HANDS!*
It's weird seeing Sgt. Hatred as fit as Brock.
Did you see Adult Swim cancelled Venture Bros.
It's over.
Waitwaitwaitwaitwait...was that Sgt Hatred?!?
Man Billy spends a lot of time in various bags
Was the SGT Hatred?
Nice Donquioxe De La Macha reference.
I was wondering who that red headed guy was.
That's sgt. hatred himself
Is it ever explained though how he became a skilled surgeon without a license??!
Can be as easy as him training to get the license, but never succeeding for one reason or another.
So did they remove billy's eye?
He lost it initially when a dog attacked him at at a "Quiz Game" then his eye was ripped out by the magnetic pull of Phantom Lib's machine causing it to explode.
Does anyone know the song?
Beautiful
They really liked throwing Billy in a bag...
Is that Sergeant Hatred?
Absolutely Kino
what was the ring about? thats the only thing I didnt get
It's a Guild of Calamitous Intent ring, that was Sergeant Hatred who was yelling at Samson.
HE WAS SPYING FOR THE GUILDE
OPEN YOUR YOUR REAL ONE
Turn caps off pls
2 SHERMAN LEUNG
WHEN YOU PAY MY BILL FUCK OTTA HERE
wait.... is that sgt hatred 0.24 ?
Was it ever confirmed, that Hatred was a mole for the Guild? As far as I can tell, he was just as skeptical towards Brock & Hunter as the rest of OSI was.
It's pretty much confirmed when he wears the guild ring in this scene. Hatred has been a mole in the OSI and also among the responsibles for the guild's resurgence later
Sgt hatred
What episode is this?
The invisible hand of fate
1:00 holy crud balls is that Monarch and Rust as kids with Blue Morpho (is that him can't tell)
Sounds like hatred
Because it is... Before the Super Soldier experimentation.
anybody know the beat at the end?
wish i knew the song
This was a prequel for many of the characters for the series.
did they just reuse hatred's voice or is that hatred himself?
himself
good god...
Wait Hatred!?
uh, what happened?
jekblom123 Mission to prove the guild exists was a failure. Phantom Limb was born from his "failed" experiment. Double agent Hatred smothered the investigation on the Guild by "cracking down" on Brock and Hunter. Billy was used as a guinea pig for the mind wipe project then Brock took him to white, who was trying to kill himself (albino) to look after Billy. Ending scene was Brock about to start his job as Rusty's bodyguard.
Nobody cares about the beautiful guitar
Spoilers
I shouldn't like a cartoon this much....
venture bros is great but they desperately need to hire more and better voice actors. such terrible and obvious voice reuse
Andy thats just like, your opinion man. Also that is SGT. hatred
you realize that's fucking sergeant Hatred right?
Epic troll bro. :)
*Hatred:* You have it in for me!😡
*Audience:* No... really?😒
Try the song “How sweet to be an idiot” starting at 00:50 as intended by the creators, it gives the sequence a completely different depth and tenderness
