My dad had speakers of this sort from cerwin Vega back in the late 90’s early 2000’s of course a older version but when he would dj at party i would stand by , in front of and sit on these just to feel that monster bass!!
You probably weren't alive in 1974 (I'm guessing), but when CV powered the film Earthquake, it was amazing. I was 13 years old. I remember some of the theaters had to shut down because the walls were developing cracks. In San Francisco, there was a marquee for a double bill. It was Earthquake and the Towering Inferno. The marquee said "Shake and Bake". Awesome stuff.
Yes this is they way to killer bass Folks the amp is matched and EQ ed to driver with a low cut below 35 HZ and the driver is computer designed for horned enclosure no worries its only good 41 hz it makes up for with massive quantities and unless you play a pipe organ aint nothing down anyhow except wasted power and distortion ! when a bass bin says bottom is 40 Hz its down 10 db and you have to work an EQ to get better low end , Powered Sub does that for you no hassle its EQ and with limiter and low cut in amp , Dont mess with separate amps and and subs in the wrong box ,I prefer smaller faster subs and just double up on em but thats just the Bass Player in me , Good video starter Djs follow this guy
Hi I don’t know much about audio I tryin to find a good a set of subwoofers for outside, Some are good for clubs and inside parties are this good for outside parties. Some sound better inside but not outside.? Thanks

DJ Pakk, what are the actual dimensions of the EL 36DP Subwoofer? The CV website shows " H26XW38XD39." I'm 5'6". You appear some what taller than myself. Is the actual height 38 inches? Thanks in advance.
DJ Pakk, how are your CVs.. i just placed an order for 4. Wanted to know your feedback on this specific powered model. Appreciate it. Thank you in advance
@@HURRICANEMOVEMENTS I have both yorkville and these powered CVs. Yorkville is much more loud and deep..insane. However , I still love these CVs tho, t
Those subs won't go down to 36hz mate the horn path is too short, their specs are marketing bullsh*t, Cerwin Vega horn subs have been tested many times before and due to the horn path the frequency response is -3db at around 48hz. I know a lot of people THINK they go down to 36hz but companies get away with lying a lot about the specs and true permormance of speaker cabs and subs. Most of the spl output is around 50-80hz that's why they sound loud because they're good for kick drums but try running a 30hz test tone through one and you'll hear very little spl oputput which would show what I say is true.
@@djgazaaka5000 When people say a sub won't go down to a certain frequency we don't mean litterally won't we mean the spl output at that certain frequency is so low that you won't feel it or hear it. Your best best would be to accept it or get different subs that do have good spl at around 36hz. Reflex subs are better at being able to produce lower frequencies. You can get very low down with horn subs but the horn path which is the distance from the driver to the exit of the front of the sub needs to be huge. The longer that distance is the lower down into the frequency range the sub will be able to produce decent output. But with a longer horn path comes a sub that is MUCH, MUCH bigger. The EAW KF940 for example is a HUGE sub cab I mean it's massive but it has if I remember right a 13ft horn path so can get down to 25-30hz with good spl output. The horn path on your sub isn't long enough.
yes start with an av amp with a subwoofer 12 inch and a left and right speaker then buy an eq to hook up and a power amp and a bigger and more powerfull sub and a mixer i think you will get there buddy :)
@@Pakk8 closer to $ 2,000.00 i bought a new one from cerwin vega direct,, also came with all needed hardware, casters, screws, footers/pads. and power cord. Only other large low end cabinet that can come close to the output of this beast is a Klipsch Hersey/Bell. :) The thing came to my house on a semi-truck delivery service.
Those subs will not get down to 36hz, I bet if you measured them with SMART software you'd see they're -3db down at about 48hz, in order to get down to 36hz the horn path needs to be quite long, much longer than your subs.
For that “subwoofer” to play down to 36hz (which means you need 4 OF THESE), first the size of the MOUTH (often overlooked when dealing with folded horns) has to be at least 1/4 of the wavelength of the super low frequency that the seller boasts🙄. Given the dimensions of this mouth are 26” by 38”, this subwoofer CANNOT and WILL NOT play down to 36hz. Not a chance in hell. The size of the MOUTH dictates how low the horn will play. If it’s too small (which it is), you’re not getting 36hz. The length of the horn (wether long or short) wouldn’t even matter at this point. The mouth has the final say. However, DJ Teknovibe also made a valid point. The horn LENGTH is the SECOND most dominant figure that determines what this “subwoofer” is able to reproduce. And with that being said, this “subwoofer” falls short in both areas. They’ll shake ppls guts from 50hz on up. But anything below that will most definitely fry the driver. As far as volume capability, this will poop on the KW181.
^^^^great advice and info. I've dealt my whole life with folded horns, then became a sound engineer at the time of the 30hz era..DJ's please keep using the bass reflex cabinets. there is not even one folded horn design capable of 60hz...I can smarrt it to prove it. front loaded is your way to go, just be Sure to have some spare cones...lol... kw181 are perfect for DJ applications. only use folded when you want to knock people out of their seats with a 100 hz...the most important thing: they are out of phase by default and how do dj's time align them with a pioneer mixer? let the in front of house guys work their band with folded...avoid it for DJing
