For your information, Richeese Factory is a fast food restaurant chain from Indonesia with a main menu of fried chicken and cheese owned by Richeese Kuliner Indonesia, Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Kaldu Sari Nabati, Co. Ltd.. Initially the name "Richeese" was the name of a cheese wafer product with the name "Richeese Nabati". Then a few years later, the company opened a franchise outlet like KFC but with a menu concept full of cheese. As you mentioned, the meaning of Richeese is "Rich with cheese".

Likewise, the owner comes from Bandung. In fact, the first Richeese Factory outlet which opened in 2011 was also in Bandung, specifically at Paris Van Java Mall.
in short words, it's like.. a cheese wafer company, trying to make a buffalo wings fast-food chain but in their own way and with CHEESE. and it was a success. and now there are some branches in Indonesia already.
edit: and yeah, the milk strawberry drink thing indeed weird. even for Indonesian standard. the best drink there is their "fruitarian drink". it taste like.. fruit tea. sweet sour drink

poor Ashley 😂, she doesn't have to push herself to finish it if she wasn't sure, the cheese sauce is there to reduce the spicy taste which is too kicking. even Indonesians barely finished it raw, we love to dip the chicken to the cheese sauce before devour it. hats of to Ashley who made it half to death 🤣

For me delicious spicy level is (I can eat with enjoy, not torture spicy)
- richeese level 3-4
- Mie Gacoan level 3
- Sambal with 21-25 rawit chilies
- instan noodle with 5 chilies
- 1 piece of gorengan with 2 chilies
- Bakso, soto, mie ayam with 3-5 spoon of sambal (try it and find the perfect spicy)
- Rujak cingur, tahu tek, gado-gado, tahu bumbu/tahu lontong, lontong mie, lontong balap, lontong kupang, I request spicy/pedas with 5-7 chilies. (You can request medium/sedang with 3-4 chilies, or little bit spicy/pedas sedikit with 1&2 chilies or no chilies/tidak pedas)
This is an amazing breakdown of how to order each dish! I was learning as we went along, we would just say “local spicy” or “Indonesian spicy” and people would look at us like I’m we were crazy. 😂 It was always so delicious though! I think some Europeans gave Indonesians the impression that westerners can’t handle spicy food, but we are here for it!

Yea, basically.. sometimes they don’t ask… and if we forget to mention, the food comes not spicy at all, but sometimes with sambal on the side which is nice. ☺️

Because you said you become like hiking, if you plan to visit Labuan Bajo in Indonesia you should consider to visit “Waerebo Village” need to hike 2 hours (normally) to Waerebo Village (not a volcano but no signal there) so you can interact with the villagers and stay 1 night on their traditional house.
That sounds like an amazing adventure! Visiting Labuan Bajo is on my (Ashley) bucket list. We didn't get to visit this time around, but we already have plans to return to Indonesia in the next few months and we can't wait! 🥰

carefully with your stomache..some warm sweet tea or milk can reduce spiciness and don't forget clean up your hand with soap and water before touch your eyes.
Yes! Making sure to wash your hands is huge. We kept taking breaks to wash our hands as we kept switching the camera lol.

Hi, restaurants in Indonesia usually provide hand washing stations, so you can wash your hands first before eating! :D

You guys did it, first time I got there (my hometown doesn't have Richeese Factory resto at that time) when I worked in Yogyakarta few years ago.
I also take level 5, it's very good, I can finish it since my hometown food mostly was savory and spicy but in Yogyakarta mostly it's sweet, too sweet for me.

We noticed Yogyakarta's food was sweeter, which we thought was interesting because we didn't realize it would be. We definitely prefer savory and spicy flavors, but we love trying new foods, so it was fun experiencing Yogyakarta's cuisine for the first time.

Maybe you guys have built so much spice tolerance traveling through SEA that those fire wings aren't as spicy to you anymore. I do think that once you start eating spicy, it's almost like a snowball rolling down a hill, given that the spiciness isn't absurd or completely intolerable, even if it's really spicy you kind of have to keep going and going to be able to deal with the heat already in your mouth. This kind of feedback loop of eating more of the spicy food to combat the spiciness really really builds up your tolerance over time to the point where you become almost a veteran or expert at eating spicy food. In many cultures there is a fun jovial rapport, sometimes subconscious or unspoken competitive nature to eating spicy at family gatherings, nothing serious or mean just a little "common it's not that hot" while you casually deal with said spice like it's no big deal 😁 I would imagine once you guys get back to the states, very few things will be too spicy for you lol

Spicy food never really bothers me. The spicier the better!
The spicy taste of richeese is felt after eating it, the mouth and throat feel burning, unlike chili sauce, the spicy sensation is immediate but consistent.
It was a building spice for sure, but nothing we couldn’t handle. 😋

u guys should've eaten them being divided in halves, half part pure spicy while the other half mixed the spicy sauce with cheese ( order some extra cheese sauce is recommendable) , the food would be more enjoyable & tastier when being eaten that way .

Our restaurants always have washbasin to wash your hands. Big, small, fastfood restaurants in a building (not street side) will always have washbasin. Not inside the restroom. So you can wash your hand properly before and after you eat, instead of just wiping your hands with tissues.
This is unlike restaurants in the U.S. You have to go to the restroom to access the washbasin.
We’ve noticed that and it makes a lot of sense. We definitely had to wash our hands after eating those wings. They were so saucy! 😅
@@mikeandashley U.S. burger restaurants don't even have washbasin (outside the restroom). I didn't want to touch restroom door after washing my hands before I eat (!). So I cleaned my hands with wet wipe and usually got strange stares from others. Ewww, why no one there wash their hands before they eat burger with their hands??!
Anyway, Indonesians are used to this because of the legendary mantra from our grandparents/parents/teachers since we were little kids: "Always wash your hands before you eat!".
Yes, EVERYONE should wash their hands before they eat. 💯 We’re also taught this in the US, but it seems some people chose to ignore their teachings!

Haha, we were happy for the ice cream too! But yea, no issues to note. We typically eat pretty spicy food, so maybe we were just used to it. 🤷♂️🤷♀️
