My orchestra is playing those piece for a competition. Your orchestra can play the notes just fine but it's the dynamics and intonation that needs work. Also posture and emotion. When the kids play they should feel something. Explain to them how the conflict between sections slowly builds until the climax and then the resolution at the end. Overall very well, but wouldn't score above a 3 at a competition. Keep up the good work though!
@@rebeltv5647 Bruh.. Practicing my cello is my favorite school period and everyone in my class shows quite a bit of emotion. I just think that these people weren't ever taught how to make things sound good through excitement.
@@rebeltv5647 I mean 5 years. Any different opinion? Yes I do play an instrument. If they are performing this, they should be ready. If they are ready, they should be able to show emotion. If they aren’t, they shouldn’t play at all. That’s the bottom line.
As viola player who has played this for multiple concerts, I beleive they need to be more coordinated and in tune. You could hear the violas mistakes alot in this piece.
I'm a viola and I just started the piece, and I already saw were they made sooo many mistakes. Don't get me started on intunation- they didn't even try to fix it. The shocking thing in this piece is that we actually have the melody XD.
Yeah, I played Night Shift for a contest, which we got gold. We could have gotten a gold with distinction but whatever. There's two parts which I love in Night Shift, the part where you tremolo, and when you play sixteenth notes. I'm a viola, and I love it. The classroom in the video is similar to mine.
Me: *loves the video* *sees too many hate comments* Me: what the heck?! Focus on what they are doing good! These kids play this better than my orchestra and I’m an 8th grader! These are like 6th graders!
ava montgomery shoot let them do it. I’m the only good person in my orchestra (that sounded so vain sorry) but like I play out because I need to bring SOMETHIng to the table . So viewers at concerts know the orchestra is complete trash.... and hey it works , the audience gives me my props. So shoot let them be extra 🤣
@@Sonder_stoic i disagree. playing the right notes makes you a "good musician," but paying attention to all the other details such as dyanmics, articulation, bow speed/angle, etc is what makes you a *great* musician. besides, there are like 10 first violins, he/she doesn't need to be playing out like that.
As someone who played this song for MPAs and who is a first violin in my orchestra, I would like to offer some constructive criticism. First off, there are multiple intonation, tempo, and dynamic issues throughout various parts while they are playing it. These are just small glaring issues. The worst offender of what I heard, is that there does not seem to be any energy or even EMOTION in this piece. This piece is full of energy, depth, and most of all, EMOTION and WEIGHT. You need to show that through the way you play. These kids do not look like they are having any fun in this piece, which is a shame, because this is one of my favorite pieces! Also a couple more things. There is a serious lack of balancing and blending, or even dynamics (I'm talking to you first violin kid!!!). Also, PLEASE teach these kids proper marcato. It's terrible! Also another big offender! POSTURE! I have never seen as bad of posture as this. This might be some of the worst posture I've ever seen! This is a big part of your score at MPAs, and this is important to show how professional of an ensemble you guys are. If I were a judge rating this, I would give this a Fair-Good rating. They still need lots of practice before they go to any competition or concert.
1. Spell “school” correctly 2. Most of these forms are shit 3. Learn to Marcato properly 4. Get a shoulder rest 5. The basses were too quiet, this a loud song 6. Ginger boy in the blue is bowing to big.
Needs more bass, less 1st violin, little less cello, more 2nd violin and just a little more viola. The one cello player needs to stop swaying so much, and the one 1st violin needs to chill and stay the same dinamic as the rest. Not everyone had good posture, which is bad. If they played this song just like this at contest, they would be marked off for several things.
Your orchestra needed way more training. If I were a judge I would rate this a three. The dynamics were good and all, but the posture was horrible and not everyone was playing on the right beat. The bows were also out of whack. You guys need more training because this was a very immature way of playing this piece.
A little moving Is fine but that one cello was like rocking out
I played this in 7th grade and i play viola.

Madison cole they also don't look like they are having fun too
osgood bacon Bruh who shows emotions while playing? They’re just focused on it. Do you play a instrument?
PapaBleach I guess they aren’t skilled then. Oh well quite disappointing even if they are just kids.

Jesus christ, has anyone taught these kids proper marcato?
one of the first violins is playing out way too much.

It's not a performance, it's just a rehearsal. Lay off
Monkalina 1 Rehearsal or not, still needs work.
Why it sounds out of tune
Bad form out of tune cellos had no life completely legato at the beginning there has to be some separations 3
Its not good
