1/18 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C From 93 UNBOXING..... Early Chase???

Retro Maniacs!!
 today as I was looking for something interesting for us all to get into, I noticed something that caught my eye........ 2 identical diecast 1/18 Shelby Cobras from 1993...... well, ALMOST identical.
Both made by ERTL, same year. They both have identical boxes with the SAME product and UPC (SKU) on the back....... both cars say they are "painted in authentic Guardsman Blue with a white stripe....... BUT, one has an anodized finish. Also, one has a white side pipe, and the other a black one. Also, a glaring difference you guys will see on the licence plate tags....... Do we have some sort of early Chase ? Usually ERTL the chases I come across most commonly are chrome and black chrome....... did they do anodized chases in 93?? So many questions!!!  anyway guys let's get into this and see if you can help me solve this!
